OMG YOU PISS ME OF YOU BASTARD :P

Obviously the grasp of the English language is just beyond your masterful skills as a game maker.  "YOU PISS ME OF YOU BASTARD" doesn't quite make sense.  You have a clause, "of you bastard" attached to an incomplete thought, "you piss me".   I believe the correct statement you were going for was "You piss me off, you bastard."  The use of the word "off" instead of "of" makes this thought more complete, and the use of punctuation makes it even better.  Also, The CAPS LOCK key lies less that 7/8th's of an inch to the left of the 'A' key.

As for your subject, need story, animations, bgs, and characters, you should have just said "I need a game".  Well, Legge, you're in luck, because on the main AGS there are PLENTY of games you can d/l for free, which are fun and entertaining and they have all of those things you want.

Have fun playing them, and enjoy your evening!

Sinister,

Hey!  I liked your game very much.  Good story..... the only thing I would say is you need to edit your text BADLY!  Many spelling errors, capitalization problems, punctuation missing.  ie.  Diego was razed..... should be raised..... razed would mean he was destroyed!  Hehe.  If you need an editor, let me know.

Here are some sprites we've been working on for QFI.....sort of a cast of characters.

The Sprites were made by BerzerkerTails and Myself.....

BTW, those two near the bottom, yes - they are searching for their lost hobbits! Heheh.

lol quite a funny story, except it kinda fell apart in the last paragraph. How about you stop moaning, get a job, and buy that wacom yourself!

She has a job, it's hard to save that kind of money when you're in school.

On the contrary, it's easier to save money when you're in school, on account of having no bills, food or shelter costs to worry about.

They often use a Gecko Lizard in their commericals, or have "fake" commercials to promote themselves.  They're really funny and popular in the US.

Now before you all think I'm heartless, let me clarify.

I am not happy about all this crap that is going on ... I'm just not suprised by it either.

Mandarb,
I have to agree - this isn't really shocking, or a surprise.  This kind of barbarism, on both sides, has always happened.  IT'S CALLED WARFARE for a reason.  It's not nice, it's not pretty, and the object is to quash the other side using extreme, deadly force.  So things are gonna get messy.  We're all human, we're all different, and we all suffer from sins of pride and foolishness.  This kind of stuff has happened between Christians and Muslims forever; look at the crusades.  I'm sure events like that video happened in more frequent and barbaric means, but since they didn't have EXTREME mass media to spread the word, the world only learned of that kind of behavior on a global scale when historical publishing became available the world over.  The world has ALWAYS been this horriffic and barbaric..... that's all I can say, and I'm not surprised.  Don't think you can waltz into Iraq, on a mission of peace and rebuliding with good intentions, and MAYBE end up killed by some crazy who doesn't give a shit about your intentions, just your nationality and religion.  The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Ali:Thanks for your help. I'll definently try it out.
Blackthorne519:That's ehat I've been doing so far, PrntScn and then replacing the character with colours. ???Works for me.
Thanks all for the advice. I quess I just have to keep trying.

Farsight, what I meant is rip backrgrounds from SQ4 and SQ1 VGA..... use them as ideas and basis for collaging.  That's what Tierra does.

Farsight,

Updating a game from EGA to VGA graphics takes time, patience and a lot of courage!  You must first learn to use your paint programs effectively - learn about using layers, colors, transparancy and shading.   This is really all trial and error stuff.  I taught myself by reading many of the tutorials I found here, although many of them don't fit the Sierra style.   Using light and shade, dodge and burn helps bring out the style you want.

Tierra/AGDI uses a lot of "collaging" in their images; they take pieces of original Sierra VGA art, ripped from the games, to make new images, using the clone tool and cutting and pasting.  You should perhaps try to assemble a plethora of backgrounds from SQ1VGA and SQ4 to see the kind of "style" you should go for in the creation of your backgrounds.

There is no SIMPLE way to "convert" EGA to VGA.  It has to be rethought and redrawn, and it takes LOTS of time to gain any proficiancy at it.  But given the right amount of grit, you can do it.

NOW - how to rip backgrounds from the game?  You can either use PrntScrn to capture the background from the game itself, and paste it into a program and edit it, or find a program called SCI Studio.  Use google, GOOGLE is your friend.

No one is gonna do it for ya, and unfortuantly, it isn't easy.  But it's rewarding when you get good at it.

Hope this helps some.

is it my conn or the site is down?

cheers,
TheSaint

Yeah, our site has been down lately.  We tried beating our webmaster, but he's a bit of a sado-masochist, so that didn't do much.

I dunno, it's been down most of today (Sunday, May 9th).  I'm a bit miffed myself!  Hopefully the problem will be taken care of soon.

Hello folks,

Time for a QFI/Infamous Adventures update.

Progress continues on QFI, which is turning out to be a pretty large game, and we're enjoying it.  Expanding the Spielburg Valley has been fun, and designing the new port town to the south, Volksville, has been an adventure in it's self.  Creating new artwork for it has been challenging, especially due to the loss of our main Artist, KQArtist.  So it's been up to me, and I've tried to improve my skills as a background artist, and I came up with these concept BKGS that hopefully with a little more work, will end up in QFI.

Now that said, the script work is drawing to a close on the first character, the assasin.  Work on the Brigand and Sorceror are about to begin.

POSTIONS NEEDED:  We lost our main background artist, so if you're interested in making Sierra-Like 320x200 Backgrounds, and working with a fun (and sometimes rowdy) team, visit Infamous Adventures at www.infamous.iconrate.net also check out our forums at www.infamous.iconrate.net/forums OR send an email to me, Blackthorne, at ALEXANSG@yahoo.com .  We're fun bunch, but also very serious about this game.  The game will be completed and hopefully, it'll be fun to play.  Drop us a line.

Critics' Lounge / Sierra VGA remade background
Wed 05/05/2004 23:01:37
Hi, this is a background I made for practice of a KQ3 AGI background.  I just made it for shit's&giggles.

I'm trying to improve my ability to edit and make background art for games, so maybe a little C&C or edits, paintovers, whatever.Ã,
This isn't a finished version, I want to do some more, but I figured I'd see what y'all say.

Thanks!

That's a really good sprite.  I'd love to see what type of game it ends up in.

Forgive me for being skeptical, but i'm really holding reservations for this game until i can get excited about the plot. I feel that you've tried to sell the game purely on the graphics so far (which i have to say are looking fantastic) which is the problem with a lot of games today, all style no substance.

That's what I've been saying, but we got a billion peeps here declaring, in a five page thread no less, that "This looks so promising, or This looks awesome...."
I haven't seen a plot yet......
