Whoa. This project looks very promising, your drawing style is very clear and matches that of the Monkey Island games perfectly.Ã,  You've got alot of talent, and I hope you use it well.

Again, I say.... drawings=good?  But backgrounds?  Animations?  This is all talk, really..... how many other projects have people SHOT down in flames because they have nothing to show.  So far we've seen a few still pictures, albiet very nice ones, but that's it.  No plot, no sprites, nothing.  Just some conversation about it.

Not to slag this project, but I love how sometimes people will support a project so hardcore with no evidence, and SLAM another one harder into the ground, sending a potential AGS programmer crying into a corner, cuddling with their blanket singing "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen.

That said, Phantom - let's see an animation or a background next.... that would be nice.

Amelie Poulain: This movie is insipid.

Amelie Poulain?  C'est merde!

Heh.

City of Lost Children, now there's Jeunet at his best, I think.

And how can you not like Indy and The Temple of Doom?  Cause it sucks compared to the other two Indy movies?  It's my least favorite, but I don't NOT like it.

Donnie Darko.... it's cool.  It was a low budget movie that got made, and press play, cause Drew Barrymore produced and starred in it.  It's a little sci-fi movie and not much more.

The main reason it looks so bad is because it's in 16 bit colour which makes it all so more uglier! I wasn't quite sure what colour scheme to use but I was in a bad mood so I tried to make him look like a perfect picture of evil (A VAMPIRE ;D) He originally had blood dripping down his face and longer fangs. In my game it is 50 by 42. Here's my picture labeled:

P.S. It was done in paint.

Okay,

Saddam Hussein didn't wear turbans; that's Osama Bin Laden.  If you wanted Hussein, give him a beret.

Steve,

Thanks for the info!  Well, he is a rough and tumble guy, so his clothes are kinda rumpled.  I drew a new version, which I have to upload soon - where he's holding a sword.  I redefined some of the facial features, and softened the red eyes a bit.

He was sailing on a ship, and he just came into port.

Hey all.  I've been busy working on not only backgrounds, but sprites as well.

Anyway, here's the latest.  I made it from scratch in MsPaint.  I'm going for an early 90's Sierra Style.

Comments?  Paintovers? Etc.  Please let me know...

Can you tell us anything about the plot yet?

:D

PS. I'm so sure this project is gonna be awesome I added it to my Signature :D!

Don't mean to be the pessimest here, but we've BARELY seen anything ACTUALLY related to making a game here; just some cartoons on posters, really.  And, though they are NICE, I haven't heard shit about plot, or seen anything leading me to believe this is SO in the PrePlanning stages....... let's HOPE it comes to fruition.  I do send good wishes for this project, but I've heard and seen this story quite a bit....

INFAMOUS ADVENTURES is looking for a sprite artist/animator to help with their Sierra-modeled game, "Quest For Infamy".  Must be able to render sprites for 320x200 res, in classic Sierra Style.

ALSO, we are looking for a background artist who would like to create some new backgrounds for the game.  The Game is based on the Spielburg Valley from QFG I, but there are many new areas including a town.  If you can create Sierra-like backgrounds at 320x200, please check us out.

For more information on the game, please visit the official website at http://www.infamous.iconrate.net

If you are interested in the position, please email alexansg@yahoo.com
Send some samples, please if you have them.

Also, visit our forums to talk with the team directly

Thanks!

The Beastmaster.

I used to see it ALL the time on TV when I was a kid.  I think TBS owns the rights to it, so they play it all the time.  Anyway, it's just stupid fantasy, sword and loincloth fun.  No point, just stupid comic-book fantasy......

I must have seen The Beastmaster like 180 times.

Just look at it like this......

Critics Lounge 101 - The Beginners
Critcs Lounge 404 - For the more experienced.....

Just like a school course.... more is expected in later courses.

I think having two forums is a good idea.  There has been an influx of really, well, thrown together things - as compared to the ART that some people turn in.....

Just a quick paintover I did.

I used some textures from another picture to give the beach texture.  Then I dodged and burned....Then I used some gradient colors for the water and the sky, and filled them with a texture too.  ALSO, I resized the screen for 320x200.  You really should pick a standard size for your BKGS, unless you DID want this to scroll.

Experiment with tools in your editing software. Most are fun!

Here's the latest iteration of my background..... probably one more pass on some detail work, and I'll be done.  But I'll tell you, I've had fun doing this.

Looks awesome, Radiant.
I love your gui, and your pop-up credits.  It looks very nice!

I'm glad you've got a good project going there.  I recognize KQArtists mighty fine work, as well.  Hope that it all goes well.  I'll be paying attention to this one.  I can't wait to play it.

No, LGM.  I agree.  She's a goddess, much like her namesake.

You are all gay.   ;D

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

We live in a crazy, variety-ridden world.

People CAN think Uma isn't attractive.

I just think you're batting at a different plate than some of us.  ;D ;) ;D

I'll animate it when I'm good and ready!

Seriously, I am going to fix his right arm, raise his knees a bit further up on the legs, and try a fleshier face first.

I am going to animate it, though. Walk, attack, and death are in order.

Yeah, maybe some rotting flesh on the face would be cool.  Depends on where you wanna go; he looks cartoonish now, which is cool.   More rotting flesh could give it a more "real" look.  Can't wait to see results.

Hmm.  I wonder why it's messed up for Mandarb.

Bummer.

Anyway, check out the forums if you have questions or comments on Quest For Infamy.

I've drawn a new mummy character. First things first, his lower jaw is supposed to be missing. Other than that, have at. Be harsh, be mean, be cruel, I like a challenge!

Penguinx,

YOU SUCK, YOUR SPRITE SUCKS, and EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS THREAD SUCKS!

Ah, I can't be harsh and mean.  It's a really great looking sprite.  Well, now time to animate the sucker, eh?  That's the tricky part!
