General Discussion / Re:Kill Bill Vol. 2
Sun 18/04/2004 16:04:20
I really Enjoyed Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2, having seen 2 Friday night.

It's just a fun movie, it doesn't take itself TOO seriously, and it pays homage to genre cinema.  It's obvious a lover of movies, and film, especially Hong Kong Kung-Fu Films, Grindhouse Cinema, Spaghetti Westerns and such, made this movie.  Yes, the action and violence are over the top, but it never claimed to be a realistic movie.  It's just a film, meant to entertain and engage you - which it certainly did for me.  I'd love to view it as a whole film, all 4+ hours, personally.

a week ago in school the teacher was talking non stop so my friend dared me to turn on the air con so we couldnt hear the teacher.
i turned on the button on the wall but i accidentaly hit the fan buttun and 8 paper planes that were stuck on top of the fan all fell down  and hit the teacherand my friend emeedietly pointed to me.

For a genius, you have horrible spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Critics' Lounge / Re:Need advice on a new bg

Personally, I think the BG looks great.  The textures are nice; and it looks really good.  I love the foreground stuff.  Very nice background; I really couldn't suggest much to improve it, except what you already have thought of; little details like seashells and such.

Here's another BG - you walk up the stairs in this one to get to the first background in this thread.

So any comments?  Anybody?   Bueller?

Here's a new background I worked on today.  I want to add some more stuff, like a "station" house at the end of the dock, and some freight "wood" type boxes laying around, but I was looking for some opinions, new ideas...... comments, criticism, and paintovers welcome.

EDIT: An Update - added a little shack/hut

Thanks for the input Zor,

I do agree with Mr. Collosal; people really aren't symmetrical - I think the idosyncrices of the human form add life to a character - but that's just the way I prefer it.

As for scaling in MSPaint, I was just to lazy to do it in another program..... heh.

Oh, and to answer some questions about the guy - he'd just be an average peasent type in the game.

Critics' Lounge / New Sprite for C&C
Mon 12/04/2004 02:04:27
Hey!

So, I've never really tried to create my own sprite, so I gave it a small run.  I made this in five minutes in MSPaint, and I tried to do the best I could.  I may use him, if I modify and make him better due to advice I get here, or I may just file him away for future use.  Anyways, here is my first sprite attempt.

Any comments or criticism welcome.  I already have one.  His legs suck and are too short. Oh well. I'll fix it later.  I'd like to see what YOU can do for me!

Thanks so much!

Wow, I'm amazed at all the young kids who are interested in Adventure gaming.  You were all just little babies during the golden era of it all..... but I think it's cool that you like these kinds of games, and that you're using AGS.

I'm 25.  I'll be 26 in May.  Everyone at IA calls me "The Old Guy", but I'm not the oldest team member!

I really love the style of these backgrounds.  I can't wait to see your game in action.  I also like your custom GUI.

Nice job.  I hope the rest of your BKGS match the style.

Heh.  Here's mine; they're from last year..... I was just practicing using layers and such.  I think modified versions of these will end up in Quest For Infamy.......but here they are

They were fun to make.  Hopefully someday, I'll get better!  Practice makes perfect, n'est pas?

Just a bump to add my edited pic, and a new one.

Here is a background in progress I'm working on.  I'd like to add more detail and buildings; I just can't come up with anything now.  Any crit, ideas?

There's supposed to be a pier here, but I've only half finished the idea....... it's supposed to be some old docks on the sea.

And some edits

And here's another background I was working on.

Let me know what you think!

General Discussion / Re:Guitar Chart
Tue 23/03/2004 18:49:56
Oh Earlwood,

You just have to remember there are 8 whole tones in a scale, and a whole step between each interval except between the 3rd and 4th note and the 7th and 8th note... every fret is one half step.  The strings are, in standard tuning, EADGBE.  Chords are easy.  A major chord is a 1st, 3rd, and 5th.  A minor chord is a 1st, b3rd, and a 5th....... oh bugger.  This takes too long.  Go to harmony-central.com!!!!!
