I've made a few more animations in order to give the main characters different facial expressions.
For some reason the protagonist doesn't seem too happy about it though...

Looks great!

As of counting, there appears to be a tie between lorenzo and selmiak, does anyone else wish to vote and break the stalemate?
#1284
The new track are great, keep up the good work!

Seeing as several game developers have gone out to say that their games won't include loot-boxes after the controversy around EA and so forth,
I'd might as well jump the bandwagon and point out that this game won't have loot-boxes either (not that it was ever planned to have them in the first place). :P

Know what the game will have though? Regular boxes!

(The situation depicted in the screenshot will make sense in context)

Lovely entries all in all, and since the original deadline is long overdue, I hope you are ready to start voting!

You will vote on the following categories:

Concept: your background should tell us something about the place you have depicted.
Playability: does it have clear walkable areas, things to interact with, etc?
Artistic Execution: what's the feeling of the place? Does the image convey the wanted atmosphere?

The vote ends at November 30th.

Yeah I was just thinking of a soft-serve ice cream machine but serving some sort of mango-orange sherbet!

But yes, looking amazing! As a guy from an island with actual erupting volcanoes on it and who lives on a cooled lava flow, I can say that the depiction looks pretty accurate!
Funny, the stream of lava reminds me of liquid honey! :)

I think it's ok in this case, besides, there would be no vote if there was only one entry. Lorenzos BG is great too, but I don't think lack of competition is fun.

It's a beautiful entry and it does have those typical Gothic archways.
Is anyone else still planning to enter or is it time to start the vote?

Congratulations, Pilchard! Your game with the kitties was adorable! ;-D

Has someone pee on the floor? (laugh)
Nice new screens, and I specially love his face expression! (nod)

Thanks! To answer your question, here's a screenshot of the commissar commenting on the puddle (it will make sense in context :)):

Like I previously mentioned, I have no plans on adding a Leroy Jenkins reference to the game, but it did give me an idea for a silly doodle:

Anyway, here are some new screenshots from the game, and I'd be happy to hear your thoughts:

The last screenshot with the lava and menacing clouds looks awesome, ever thought about adding Heavy Metal album covers as tie-in merchandise? 8-)

One thing that greatly bothers me in movies (and quite a few video games too) is when female action heroes go into battle wearing high heels, and not just in a scenes where say, they were surprised and caught wearing civilian clothes, but the story clearly shows that they were expecting to get into a fight and had every opportunity to ditch the heels, yet they run around in the stupidest shoes they could find. No sane person in real life would ever chose to wear high heels in any situation where they would have to run or climb rough terrain, yet we still keep seeing female agents, assassins and policewomen and other supposedly experienced and professional women run around in high heels on the screen.

This why this is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time:

I want to do exactly what Jack does whenever I see characters supposed to be action heroes run around in high heels! (nod)
We see plenty of action heroines rip their dresses in order to fight, why not remove their high heels while they're at it?

I've played all the games now:
Fearaphobia
Spoiler
It was an interesting idea for an arcade-style game, though a bit short.

Moonlight Moggy

It was fun to play as a cat, the pixel art was nice and the puzzles were good.

Grizzly Goose of Gosse

The crayon drawings for graphics and voice acting was great, its a fun game and you can thell the whole family had fun doing it. my only complaint was that it was hard to understand what to do inside the shed, but otherwise a cute game and it has my vote.

Just You and Me
Spoiler
It's a great game, just a shame that the screenshot in this forum kind of ruined the surprise, for otherwise it's a very suspenseful game. My only complaint is that the ending was a bit too abrupt.

It's an adorable game, but I'm stuck.

Spoiler
That's a nice double-use for one of the quest items.

I already guessed as much, which item do I need to use and where can I find it?

It was an interesting video, Umbrella terms, and your post was an interesting read, SilverSpook!

As someone living in Sweden, I've heard several people debate that one of the big reasons that Sweden has such a thriving game industry is because of the countrys strong social security net. Basically, if people know they have a safety net to fall back on, they are more willing to take risks such as starting a new company or begin a project that might not be an immediate commercial success. University education is also free, which means that many young people are able to study game design in different universities, rather than being limited by what they can afford or which educations their parents are willing to pay for.

I'm currently studying game development with a focus on graphics while making adventure games in my spare time, and it's thanks to the current system in place.
Still, having no budget at all also means that I haven't been able to market my games, and even the most popular game I made have been downloaded less than a 1000 times.
