Thank you for your input everyone, it's really helped me improve this.
I streamlined the background the way lorenzo suggested, and I changed the text. While your image was great and well made, Darth Mandarb, I think the other composition makes the title clearer to read.

I hope this one is an improvement, but I'm still unsure about the row of soldiers. I'm a bit worried anyone seeing them will get the impression that it's going to be an RTS or similar where you get to command troops, and get disappointed when they see it's a point and click adventure game instead. :-\

Thank you for the tips lorenzo, and your sketches are very nice. As for the spelling, I was going from the English translation of Dante, but I hope the title won't be too confusing to Italian players.

I hav tried making new versions of the image more in line what what you described, I toned down the blue and changed the pose and background:

The first background I made have rows of soldiers to reflect the propaganda posters more, but the other one with the ruins reflect the events in the game more.

The protagonist is a coward, but I wouldn't say he's supposed to be a reluctant leader as much as coward who's comfortably hiding behind a desk job (while criticizing simple soldiers for cowardice) until he accidentally ends up behind enemy lines.

What do you think of the changes, and which version do you think works best?

I've seen the production thread for so long, it's great to see the game finished!
Congratulations! ;-D

I'm sorry for the delay with a new background blitz, and I hope you will like the theme I picked. Since Halloween is coming up, I thought it would be fun to pick a theme that lends itself to horror and ghost stories,
and I think the Gothic style does that very well by being so closely linked to medieval castles, old churches, catacombs and mausoleums in addition to featuring heavily as background settings for many horror classics.

The background can depict anything from a majestic cathedral, a gloomy crypt, the silhouette of a castle in the distance or something else entirely, as long as it incorporate some form of Gothic design elements.
For those unfamiliar with this style, the by far most recognizable and common trait is the pointed vaults and archways, and Gothic buildings are dominated by triangular shapes pointing upward.
Other common design elements include gargoyles, crenellations, lattice windows, spires and tall towers.

Voting will be in the following categories:

Concept: your background should tell us something about the place you have depicted.
Playability: does it have clear walkable areas, things to interact with, etc?
Artistic Execution: what's the feeling of the place? Does the image convey the wanted atmosphere?

Deadline is November 4th.

Based off what Andail mentioned, I made a new version where I tried to make it look more like the propaganda posters, although I didn't want the character to look too heroic for story-related reasons.

What do you think, does it look better?

Since I've neither played your game nor seen Star Trek: Discovery, it's hard to say for certain but I doubt that having a diverse space crew or space travel involving blue glow is enough to call either one a ripoff of the other. If anything, the trailers and screenshots I've seen remind me much more of Stargate than of Star Trek.

Hi! I'm working on a game called Commissar's Contrapasso, and I'm planning to add a devlog to Gamejolt, so I'm going to need a thumbnail for my game.
The thumbnail is supposed to convey the tone of the game as well as make people want to play it, and since the game is about WW2 I tried to make it look like an old Soviet propaganda poster.

I'm a bit worried that it looks empty, but at the same time I don't want to take away focus from the title text. Any thoughts, opinions and feedback is welcome!

That's an oddly specific shape.

Yeah, I must agree.

Just my own thoughts, but ideal Coloring Ball shapes perhaps shouldn't force the participants to adhere exactly to a rigid pattern.

The fun of the contest, in my opinion, is to see what people can come up with given a more ambiguous and rotatable image.
I'm sorry about that, I've never hosted a coloring ball before, and I didn't think my shape was that specific compared
to the last coloring ball. Danvzare and Glenjamin also came up with fun ideas to subvert the expectations of the theme, and I
didn't think the shape I picked would be too hard to work with, but I'll keep this in mind the next time.

I hope there'll be more entries before deadline so there can be a vote.

May I ask for at least a small cameo of sniper and spotter in this game? :D
Don't worry, they will show up in the game. (take a close look at the second screenshot at the top!) ;)

Thank you for all the kind word everybody, I'm so happy that you liked it!
I've been a bit busy with making more art and handling the script, and now, the Kübelwagen can be interacted with!

Wow, the eyes of the last character looks simply mesmerizing!

I'm not sure why, but for some reason the guy in the last sketch makes me think about Elton John.

It sounds great, but will trying the beta interfere with my saved games? I haven't yet completed playing Neofeud and I'm worried about losing my progress if I do. :-\

That is an awesome menu! :-D

Just in case it's misunderstood: The winner, traditionally, starts the next one up.
I know, and I'm terribly sorry that I forgot about it. I have been rather busy last month. :(
