I shall call the commissar Mr. 0fg ;)
Why 0fg?

Excellent!  And don't worry, MAGS takes a lot out of ya.
Thanks!

Aaaaaah... we all know how boring it is to be an officer in the middle of a war zone... (laugh) Oh wait... how boring it is when you can't pull your phone up and check something on the internet or play a game... (laugh)

- "yes... yes... go kill some Germans and leave me alone... I'm studying the inside of my eyebrows..." (laugh)
(laugh) That line is hilarious, mind if I use it in the game? (laugh)

Why thank you!

I do like Grok's lizard overlord as well,
and I'm looking forward to see what other entries show up here!

Yes, I like the colors in the screenshot, looks nice!

I cannot say whether it was my interest for ancient mythology or my love of irony that got the best of me,
but the theme I picked for this Fortnightly Writing Competition is fate, or more precisely, the inevitability of fate.

The story must contain a prediction, or prophesy, and a character who in their attempts to prevent it from coming true,
inadvertently sets it in motion. Oedipus is probably the ur-example of this trope, but it shows up in various other fairy tales
and folklore as well, and I'd like to see your take on this theme.

Fortnightly Writing Competition ends in december 18.

This sounds like a fun theme, I'm holding my thumbs that someone will make an homage to The thief and the cobbler!

Thanks for the kind words, Twirlly!

I voted for Pychopomp, I liked the puzzles and characters,
but Mandle's game was fun too!

This princess not like all the other princesses who are "not like all the other princesses".
She doesn't daydream of running away from her royal life, she wouldn't be caught dead wearing pants and she sure as heck doesn't know karate.
She is perfectly content in doing things befitting a royal princess, such as singing, dancing, looking for suitable suitors, applying drops of belladonna to make her eyes appear larger and
rigorously study Il Principe by Niccolò Machiavelli.

Hints & Tips / Re: Psychopomp
Thu 01/12/2016 13:25:24
You need to:
Spoiler
Switch to Psychopomp and go upstairs to the room with the cage/waterwheel. There is a loose brick in the red brick chimney to the right, try removing the brick and then flip the pipe on the water-wheel to make water run down the chimney.

Hope it helps!

Just played. Fun game with a poignant anti-war theme. The ending does feel a bit rushed, though.
Spoiler
I was hoping to be able to interact between the two groups of soldiers, maybe somehow getting them to put down their guns and make friends.

Anyway, a good advert for Sniper and Spotter which I still haven't played yet. I will rectify that soon.
Thank you!
Regarding the ending,
Spoiler
I agree that it's a bit rushed, and I would probably have made a nice cutscene or something more elaborate if I had the time. No making friends between the soldiers though, much of the story revolves around the protagonist realizing his own insignificance...

Anyway, I'm happy that you liked it! ;-D

I love the ground so much! But I was kinda anticipating a speech line from the characters, always fun to listen to their conversations (laugh)

Looking real spiffy man!  Hope to see more of this soon.
Thank you both!

I haven't really given this project the time I wanted to this month, since I've been busy working on a MAGS game, Fallen soldier,
link: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=54211.0
(some of the characters do show up in Sniper and spotter though! ;) )

Since that game is finished, I have taken up work on this game again, and made some new animations.
Here is a new animation I made of the commissar where I really wanted to show just really how much he cares for the well-being of his men:

Thank you for your kind words, Riaise, I'm so happy that you liked it!

Mandle, I just played your game, and while I've heard a variation of that joke before, it was nicely executed in the game,
the cute background and angel choirs really added something a little bit extra to the joke.
#1779
Great to hear, best of luck to you!

Just finished it, and I liked the game. Maybe I have a soft spot for nonverbal storytelling, but I like how it manages to tell it's story in a simple yet engaging manner. The puzzle were intuitive too. My only complaints would be that the backgrounds look a bit flat and dull. Now this isn't technically about the game, but having to first install zip extractor and then download it to google drive and then download it from google drive felt like an overly complicated solution for downloading and playing the game.

But all in all, it was a nice game and I liked it. :)
