Gotta agree with selmiak there, otherwise it looks great in a very rococo sort of way! :)
#1984
Nice!
Is it the interior of an airship or the Nautilus? :)

At first I thought about drawing a zombie playing Pokemon Go,
but it felt like kind of a cheap shot so I decided to go with a mermaid instead.

Things have really changed in the ocean the last hundred years, most of all the levels of pollution.
This mermaid's hair isn't naturally green. She swam too close to an oil leak, and unable to clean her
hair she has now given up and decided to cut it off instead.

And forget about snappy seashell or starfish bras, due to the abrupt changes in their natural habitat most of them are unable to develop properly.
Luckily for her she found lots of discarded T-shirts in a huge mass of trash roughly the size of Europe which happened to float around in the Pacific ocean.

I can't get that picture of a bunch of monkeys doing a banana boat ride in space out of my head...

Then pull it out of your head and show it to the rest of us...Only way to get rid of such pesky stuff that I know of...
I got a similar picture in my head reading about the theme of this month. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to compete this month,
though I'm sure the games here will be hilarious! (laugh)

I linked to a funny song I found about this very problem, literally called Just Glue Some Gears On It (And Call It Steampunk)! ;)
Ha ha ha, that was a great song, and a funny one as well. It's true about how people think about steampunk as well. (laugh)

Personally (while I know this is probably flawed) I see steampunk as being a setting with a Victorian aesthetic, but with all of today's modern technology (and perhaps some yet to be invented technology such as robots and spaceships) running on steam and clockwork machinery.

There just isn't enough steampunk in the world. :~(
Totally agree on that! It's a shame som much fantasy just fall into the same old medieval-europe tropes when there are so many, many places and time-periods to draw inspiration from.

jwalt, Dboywheeler, you both have som nice entries!
I have been working on making trophy's myself:
A top hat with gold goggles for the winner.
A bowler hat with silver goggles for second place.
And a cap with bronze goggles for third place.

Hats with googles are nearly as an iconic symbol of steampunk as those big gears!

Dunno about a crap-ton of gears--that'd take FOREVER to do--but I did find some stuff that I hope fits the Steampunk theme.
Well, steampunk doesn't have to have tons and tons of gears, it's just something that's become very closely associated with the genre.
However, one of the pitfalls to avoid is just adding random gears and brass parts to things with no purpose.

Not anything of mine, and not an entry, but might be inspirational in some fashion
Spoiler

First time I encountered an image of USS Choctaw (Civil War era), it struck me as the essence of steampunk.

Great! Civil-war era armored warships and other victorian mechanichal veichles are a good starting point, how nice of you to post an image! ;-D
Personally, I'd recommend anyone curious to look up the works of author Jules Verne as well as some illustrations for his books.

Terribly sorry about that, I appear to have some trouble posting this GIF.

Nope, still not working... :~(
Posting GIFs from imgur have worked before, but this just won't show up for some reason.
I guess I'll just post this link to the image if you want to see:

Edit: OK, now it's working, I think...

I just couldn't resist the urge to create this:

Behold!!!
#1993
It can be animated or a still still scene, as long as it fits the theme! :)

This BACKGROUND BLITZ will be about steampunk!

Steampunk, for those unfamiliar with the concept, is a blend between science fiction and fantasy with an Victorian aesthetic.
The style is mostly associated with but not limited to brass pipes and gears, old-timey goggles and steam-powered machinery.
I you need further inspiration on what to do and not to do, I recommend listening to this song!

I chose this theme because most of the steampunk illustrations I've seen have been of items and characters,
and I thought it would be fun to see more explorations of places and environments for a change,
be it the inside of an airship, an inventors laboratory, just a regular room with steampunk machinery,
anything you can think of as long as it has some steampunk elements incorporated.

Deadline is August 31st.

The top three contestants will get one of these trophys:

Thank you all so much, I'm so happy right now! :-D
I shall set sail for a new background blitz at once!
#1996
I have added a Swedish translation to the game, it can be selected in the setup before starting the game.
I also changed the graphics for some of the menus, and while this game was just a little practice project of mine,
I do hope this is a small improvement.

1st Place goes to CaeserCub  and the fantastic bearded penny farthing guy !! .  But how does he pedal?
My guess: He doesn't, and that's the reason he's late all the time! ;)

This is my first time winning a trophy though, how do I add it to my profile? ???
#1998
Yes, I think I understand now, looking at the directions in the link.
It seems easier to me to just replace rare characters that aren't used in speech this time, this way I managed to make them show up in the game, even if it is a bit of extra work.
Also, thank you for the tip about replacing fonts in the script!

Yes, available versions are listed here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?board=28.0
3.4.0 is still in Beta stage. I do not control the homepage, so it has only latest final release.
Ok.
What strategies do you recommend if I'm using version 3.3.5 and want to add the extra letters?
The font I'm currently using only have 104 symbols out of the 128 slots available.
#2000
Is 3.4.0 available for download yet? I Only see version 3.3.5 on the main page.
If not, how can I make the extra letters show up in the old version?
I want to add both small and capital versions of three letters, six symbols all in all.
