Looks like the game is coming along nicely, best of luck! ;-D

I really like your new sprite, although the blue one seems a little bit bright, maybe slightly slightly darker (especially the rim of the hat, it sort of blends into the background)?
All in all I think it's an improvement.

In my opinion, the only sprite which doesn't make him look like a smiling buck-toothed hillbilly, is the last sprite. And that's probably because his mustache is extending beyond the face. So that's probably a good place to start.
Part of my brain thinks it looks like he has a big smile and a Chaplin-style mustache right above it. (laugh)
Personally I prefer the second sprite from the left, but I agree with Danvzare on the mustache. Also, the bowler-hat looks like a trilby-hat in some of the sprites, it should be rounder up top.

Maybe you can try and zoom out the photo and see what the pixels look like?

QuoteWhen you switch to character two again, is that in response to some inventory interaction? If the cursor is in inventory mode, it could possibly get confused by the switch (since suddenly the active inventory item isn't available any more). That would explain why it stops working until you right-click (since that's the action to deactivate inventory-item cursor mode). And the number of items in your inventory (i.e. whether the active inventory index is valid) could conceivably affect this behavior, which would explain why your "fix" worked. In that case, a better way would be to set the cursor mode to normal before you change characters. But again, without seeing the code this can only be a guess.
For now everything seems to be working, but I'll definitely keep this in mind the next time I work on an inventory puzzle. Thank you so much for your help! ;-D

You should post the bits that seem relevant here. There's no way for us to tell what the problem is without seeing the code.
Yes, the thing is that I wasn't sure which bits were relevant, but I just managed to solve this.
The thing is, that the second character had received two inventory items as part of a puzzle, and still had them by the time of the second switch. By removing the items when I changed back to character 1, and adding them back once I switched again to character 2, the bug disappeared. Still a pretty weird bug though, does this happen often when you leave things in inventory?

There is a bug in one of your scripts.
Yes, but how can I locate the bug? I have a lot of scripts to keep track of and I don't know what to look for. I've already looked over the parts where I switch characters, but I could not see anything out of place. I used the same commands as for the previous switch, and then they work as they should...

Anyway, the game looks nice!

Sounds like a situtation, where the game is in hiatus until something specific is done. Is there a cutscene beetween before the character switch?

What do you mean by "but then..."? The left mouse click doesn't work immediately after "unlocking" it?

Maybe you should give us some "switchy switchy, the second time is itchy" code. (nod) (laugh)
What happens when I press the left mouse-button is that either nothing happens, or I get the default answer "I can't do that" etcetera instead of the scripted interaction. When I press the right mb the character is supposed to say a comment if the cursor is over a hotspot, but no such thing happens if i click on a hotspot or inventory item. But once I've pressed the right mb both buttons function normally = a scripted interaction happens when I click on a hotspot or inventory item.

Hello!
I have already built my game, but there is still a few bugs. My problem is that the cursor doesn't work in one scene once the player changes character. I used the default two-click system, left mb for interaction, right for examining. My game starts with the player controlling one character, then switches to character two, then back to one and then two again.
It's the second time the script changes to character two that this bug occurs. What happens is that left mouse-button doesn't work, clicking on hotspots and inventory does nothing, until I press the right mouse-button. Nothing happens at first, but then
both the left and right button work normally again. ???

Not a game-breaking bug, but I'd like to fix it if I can. Has anyone had a similar problem or know what can cause it?

The best of luck with the fine tuning... or break a leg (if it is the theatrical tradition that should be followed):)
Thank you both! :-D
The spotter's walk animations are already finished, you can now see him walk in eight different directions!

Exciting news! Can't wait 'till the next week (or the week after the next week :P) then!
Great! While I do not dare say any exact date, what with Murphys law and all, all the important parts of the game is finished and the rest is just a matter of fine-tuning. :)

(laugh) (laugh) (laugh) (laugh) (laugh)

I've never been super excited about a game like this!
I'm so happy to hear your enthusiasm, it's great to see people excited about this game and I do hope you try it out once it's released! :)

Happy International worker's day everybody! :)
I've added some new sounds and animations, and plan to add more so that you will be able to see both the main characters walk in eight different directions!
I have worked for so long on this game, and now I hope I will be able to release it within eight or nine days.
While you wait, here is a GIF of the spotter using a knife.

Yeah, he'll never be a master woodcarver.

Hate to say it, but to me the top image looks more like a pouting child than an adult CEO, it looks a bit silly with the mouth looking like an upside-down U. :(
The second image looks great though, practically seething with schadenfreude! ;-D The only thing bugging me is the line between his mouth and left side of the nose, it looks a bit dark and bent weirdly, but otherwise great work!

He looks good against that backdrop, it will be interesting to see what sort of game this will be. Best of luck! :)

Ok here's the CEO of the Neofeud equivalent of Google after it becomes a trillion dollar company and becomes more evil:
He will also be in the room with the female Stratoplexian.
Well he sure looks like a bad guy, the almost-unibrow and jawline remind me of Rudolf Hess. (roll)
But the bright red tie clashes a bit color-wise with the bluish/purple color scheme in your previous screenshot. It could be pretty cool if you played up the contrast with the dirty and rust-colored poor areas and the rich areas reflecting the sky and being all silver and polished...
This game has an absolutely lovely art style! ;-D

Thank you! ;-D

Oh yeah, that's some great news! Can't wait to play it as well! :D
This picture would be grand for the main menu or credits sequence. :)
Thanks! Although I'm a bit worried that the GUI and buttons might get a bit "lost" in the bright colors, it's certainly an idea I'm exploring.
I'm so happy for all the positive response in this thread and it's been a huge motivation to finish this game. It's close now, I promise! ;-D

After a lot of work the game is now playable from start to finish! Pretty much all of the puzzles, backgrounds and character sprites are complete and there are no game-breaking bugs (only a few immersion-breaking ones, but I'll work on that!)! Otherwise the game is almost finished save a bit of polish, and I shall hopefully be able to release it next month!!! ;-D

(No, this picture doesn't actually appear in the game, but I thought it would be funny to try and capture the bright cheerfulness of communist propaganda. For some reason all the bright stars just make me think of Lisa Frank though...(roll) )
