General Discussion / Re: New Parent Hacks

Congratulations!

A tip I got from an acquaintance having a baby was that you shouldn't bother too much with your regular sleep schedule, just sleep when the baby is sleeping.

Also, when the baby gets old enough to eat real food, my parents had a great rule, that it's ok if the kid don't want to eat the full meal, but they should always taste the food before turning it down.

While it is quite belated, I would also like to note that the 9th of November was the zenith of the Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520. Also in regards of peculiar co-incidences, every time that I have visited that city, I have been approached by tourists, wanting to know some intriguing history from the city. Each time I have happily obliged, and the Bloodbath is a very reliable story to tell. It is quite fun to re-tell it, with fresh exaggerations each time.

Early November also saw the start of the October Revolution in Russia, one could note, with the Winter Palace seized on the 8th of November.

The month of November seems to be a quite common time for excitements and upheavals, I would say. It is a month out for blood. Although I ought not to irritate it yet, with a week of potential mischief remaining.
Don't worry, I think we're safe now... ...for this year!

It is also the day America started tearing up its Constitution...

"November 9, when Trump's 2016 presidential win was announced."
Yeah, I remember that date, Stockholm had the mother of all snowstorms that same date!

The 30 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall has been all over the news, but it's not the only big historical event that's happened in Germany on this date; https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_9_in_German_history

So I gotta ask, what's the deal with Germans and tearing things up on November 9 of all days?  (roll)

So I saw this pic of The Rock:

Aaand I couldn't resist photoshopping it!  (laugh)

I just use my adblocker to block those elements, so I can click past them.
It surprisingly works about 75% of the time.
For me, those numbers are the opposite, and that's not even counting all the sites that don't let you use adblockers.

Isn't that the music from the Home Alone movies?

What with it being the time of Halloween and all, I thought I'd share a great spooky classic:

I just find this piece so inspiring, and ever since I first heard it I've thought of
one day creating a game with a gameplay segment synchronized to this music.

I don't know exactly what it'd be, but the Danse Macabre just has such a fantastic flow to it.

Clouds, Nazi's, heavy music... What a great combo  (laugh)

I have a few ideas swirling around in my head... If I get time I may be able to put something together  (laugh)
Interesting! What do you have in mind?

Birds eye view. Up and Down, Left and Right Scrolling. WW2 flying sortie. Targets to destroy (dam, fuel depot etc), being defended by Nazis... Only safe cover are the clouds but then you can't see your targets very well below..Destroy all targets. Get shot down and a backup takes over... Maybe 4 backup aircraft. Nazi's have Anti aircraft guns and a squadron of their own.

Game over when you destroy all targets or your squadron are all destroyed..

just jammin'

You mean like this?

Personally, I thought of something side-scrolling like this:

Because that lets you see more of the sky and the clouds meant to be the theme of this month,
plus it'd be easier to play with mechanics for dropping bombs on the ground and avoid anti-aircraft guns from my view.

This was an unexpected theme, but I already got some pretty cool inspiration.

However, I'm not sure my technical skills are up to the task, so is there anyone good at programming who'd want to try their hands on making a side-scrolling flying game in AGS?

It was a hard choice, but:

Concept: Mandle I just love the swirly clouds
Playability: Alan v.Drake I see so many things I'd want to interact with
Artistic Execution: Alan v.Drake great colors, atmosphere and lots of details

to defeat an evil supervillain literally named "Dr Doom"
Ah Dr Doom. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the comics (at least from what I gleaned from the ones I read) he became the dictator of Latveria, and turned a third world country into a prosperous first world country, and is beloved by his people.
Dr Doom also helped save the remaining population in the Marvel Zombie universe, while Mr Fantastic purposefully infected the rest of his team.
He also got horribly disfigured when a lab experiment blew up in his face. Mr Fantastic tried to warn him that his formula was off and that it would happen, but apparently due to his hubris, Dr Doom didn't believe him and as such now believes that Mr Fantastic tampered with the lab experiment somehow. Something tells me Dr Doom is right, and Mr Fantastic did tamper with it.

Dr Doom is the perfect example of a good guy that became a villain because he was villainized. And I think it would be brilliant if they made a film about that. Especially since his last name is literally "Doom".
Yeah, and I'd especially want to see the whole "beloved dictator" bit, since I don't know any other superhero movie that did that with their villain, instead of just making him a generic evil scientist like in the existing movies.

Though the best super villain origin of all time must probably go to Lex Luthor, for turning evil because he blamed Superman for his baldness! (laugh)

I'm glad you saw the movie and complained about it here, but actually explain why it is bad. I've seen lots of people online saying Fan4stic was awfull but never really say why. I thought it looked ok enough but I can see what's bad about it now. Thanks for saving me some time.
Thanks, I'm glad all the time I spent studying film at university proved useful!
