My entry is playable from start to finish now, but I still have to add background music
and try and add a bit more interactivity and polish, but I think I'll finish within time.

I just bought the game off Steam, I'll play it when I find the time! :)

Another win for Slasher. Congratulations!

Our planet is full of exciting fossils from species long gone, but now you can help bring them to life again in sprite form!
There is plenty of exciting fauna to chose from, ranging from creatures as different as the wingless 3 meter tall Moa birds to Eohippus,
an ancestor to the horse no larger than a terrier, and Synthetoceras, an antelope-like creatures with a Y-shaped horn growing out of their noses,
and plenty of other creatures even weirder, all which are now gone but hopefully not forgotten.

Guidelines:
- No size, palette or style limitations.
- It must depict a real creature and feature the name of the species in the description.
- No dinosaurs. I don't want all entries to be different versions of T-rex. (roll)

Deadline:
1st December

I totally forgot all about it, but I'll try and come up with a new sprite jam tomorrow!

Liquid in a container
There's some sort of liquid, usually water, and you need to pick it up by putting it in something, like a bucket.
Seen in : Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Deponia, and many many others.

Yeah, I know that might seem a bit too generic. But it is usually a genuine attempt at a puzzle in adventure games. Simply figuring out that the container can be used as a container is usually part of the puzzle.
One puzzle with liquid I've seen used in numerous games is the puzzle where you have a 5 unit jug and a 3 unit jug, and need to use both in order to fill the 5 unit jug with 4 units.
I've seen this in at least three different adventure games and even one Bruce Willis movie. I've no idea why everyone recycles this puzzle but I've seen it a lot.

I haven't seen any problems using GOG on chrome.

I still end up using Steam mostly since I already have a big library there and there are free Steam key giveaways every once in a while.
But while Steam is still fine for now as long as you only want to buy games you already know about, it really grinds my gears that they
absolutely refuse to curate the content on their store, and will only remove broken files, asset flips and troll games once enough people
actively go out of their way to protest and report them. There's even been reports of straight up bitcoin mining scams being sold masquerading
as "games" on Steam, all which could have been avoided if Valve required any form of application process for their games other than just paying a fee.

And the 100$ fee might sort out a few kids trying to upload their projects for fun, but it will not actually deter any of the scammers and and
charlatans hoping to make it back by tricking gullible gamers.

Looking cool Blondbraid. (nod)
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!

I'll admit I'm reusing a lot of assets for my entry, and most of you have probably seen the characters before,
but I hope to make up for it by playing around more with cool gameplay mechanics.
I'm currently trying to make a sequence where you can use a pair of binoculars in gameplay:

What really grinds my gears is the increasing trend of AAA single player games needing to be connected online to the game company servers,
and lagging and freezing whenever your internet connection acts up, despite this being 100% unnecessary due to the games being single player,
they shouldn't need to be connected at all. It's just there so greedy executives can shove micro transactions and redundant sharing-your-progress features in the game.

@Blondbraid, I think that is a  more than acceptable interpretation of the theme.
Great, I've already started making a test prototype of my entry!

I'd like to make an entry of the idea I have, but I'm not sure if my idea of a "scarecrow" counts:
Spoiler
It's a corpse propped up by someone wanting to distract and intimidate their enemies.

Does this fit the theme enough?

Thank you, I love your idea as well!!! It could also be interesting to combine "classical" 1990s-style adventure and Fahrenheit/Heavy Rain-style interactive drama.

I had an idea somewhat similar to yours which involves an unreliable narrator, inspired by the movies "Mulholland Drive", "Lost Highway", "Secret Window", "Usual Suspects", etc., with the two parts of the game telling the same story from the perspectives of two different characters. The first part of the game would be something very cartoonish/comic in the vein of DOTT or CMI, with an "adorably geeky" protagonist like Guybrush or Bernard Bernoulli and his humorous adventures (maybe with some surreal stuff, i. e. aliens, magic, time travel, etc.) The second part of the game would be told from the perspective of another character, with a darker and more realistic style and maybe different gameplay mechanics (think Darkseed), the guy from the first part would be the villain, and it would be revealed that his story from Part 1 was either his delusion or he deliberately made it up. For instance, in the first part he could be telling his story at a police station, implying that he was just an innocent bystander, and the second part would be from the perspective of a police detective, and the "adorably geeky" guy would be the criminal the detective is after.

That would be awesome. It would be like getting hearing a story from Moriarty, then from Sherlock Holmes.

If you're interested, you may PM me, and we can try to work out something together.
That sounds a lot like the classic movie Rashomon (except in Rashomon all narrators are unreliable)!
I'd wanted to see such a plot where you play through the same line of events with different characters explored in a video game for a while now, it'd be interesting to see what you would create!

Cool and short game, finally I played it too. Even in the enhanced version  :-D
That's great, I really appreciate your videos!
Great work, and I'm glad you liked my game! ;-D

I just voted, here are my thoughts:

Captain Carver's Carnival Curios by VampireWombat
Spoiler
It's a very neat idea, but it was a bit disappointing that there was no graphics for the map screen.

Dr. Chuckles' miniature world of madness by Slasher and Mikeg
Spoiler
The story and visuals very much reminded me of a slasher movie. :)
Anyway, there were some good puzzles and animations, and the timer gave some stakes and tension. I ended up voting for this game.

IT REALLY, REALLY GRINDS MY GEARS THAT SOMETHING AS GLORIOUS AS THIS IS TURNED INTO SOMETHING AS TRITE AS THIS FOR THE SAKE OF LAMETARDS WHO NEED THEIR DAILY DOSE OF WARM-FUZZIES TO COPE.
That story has already been retold at least a hundred times before, but with different treats, the oldest version came from a 1912 short story where a lady misstakenly takes 5£ from another woman on a bus, beliving that she had stolen it from her. It's basically an urban legend at this point, and being annoyed at one version is basically like being annoyed at a Robin Hood movie. No bother, they'll just make a new version to replace it next season.
