Ah, completely forgot to look at the inventory the first time.
Went back and played around with the new inventory a little bit.
Quite simple, and simple GUIs are always good. But you already mentioned the biggest improvement over the old inventory (being able to use an object by itself) That should help simplify things a bit (no more clunky sounding 'use object1 with object1' like in the original's GUI)
Should work quite nicely, although displaying only two objects at a time could be rather awkward if the game ever gives you a large amount of objects. If not, than I honestly can't think of anything else you could change. Overall, I think that the GUI works quite nicely, and it lacks the awkwardness of the original. The smoother a GUI is the better, and this GUI seems to be quite smooth.

Completed Game Announcements / Re:CR

Downloaded it and played it for a couple of minutes. Looks good so far!
Even though all the graphics and music are from other sources, it is your first game and it was made in a week and a half. Even with practically no original graphics and sound, it shows that you do have the determination to make games, and you could really go on to make some good ones. It may have used graphics, sound and (as the readme itself says) a bit of a corny storyline, but I've enjoyed what I've played so far.
Keep up the good work!

For people familiar with the RON universe, it uses graphics from RON (though it doesn't follow the RON storyline) And, since gin mentioned that bin laden is in the game, I thought I'd point out that the sprite used for Bin Laden is the Crazy Homeless Weirdo. Not sure if that was intentional, but I got a chuckle out of it.

I like it. Definitely much easier than the original's GUI. Eliminates much scrolling and clicking.
I suppose if I had to give any complaints about it, it would be that clicking on all the objects all the time would always give you an interaction (like if you wanted to go into a door, you might just get the look interaction for the door) but I imagine that's probably already been worked out, anyway. As long as the 'walk-to' spots assigned to the look command don't interfere with getting in and out of things, I can't see any potential problems with it.
Ah, and now that I recheck the demo, I notice that the stairs on it have their default command as 'walk-to'. Tricky, tricky!
Anyway, as long as all the exit hotspots are like that, I think it's a great GUI. Seperating the walk command from all the other commands, and only allowing the right-click command change when it's on a hotspot pretty much eliminates all the problems with a right-click interface.
Keep up the good work!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when the Fed's nab your shit, it's gone...  they either keep it or auction it off to help defray the cost.  All your bases are belong to them.

The 5th Amendment reads:

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Note the last line.

If it's stolen, or you owe money on taxes, they can certainly take it away, seeing as how in the case of theft it's technically not your private property, and in tax seizures you already owe the government money anyway.

But if it's your private property, as in the aforementioned:
QuoteYou lost your home & you still owed money on it.

Your cars were confiscated but you still owed credit you couldn't pay.

You used to have bank accounts, credit cards and savings. But all your money was confiscated.
They couldn't use those as evidence, and even if they could, 'just compensation' would be owed.

But, of course, that's just the constitution. The government managed to find loopholes through all that years ago.  ;)

Since when is being fat a reason to hate someone. If fat people were a race you'd be a racist.
No no no... You see, semantically speaking, even if fat people WERE a race, if you hated them, that wouldn't make you racist.
You use an incorrect definition of the term 'racist', you see.
If one is "racist", then he feels that his race is superior to all other races. I believe the term you are looking for is "prejudice", as it refers to one's belief that another specific group is inferior to all other related groups.
Semantics, LGM, semantics!

'All my money was confiscated'? I think theres some law that saws police have to reimburse people for evidence taken, in some "constitution" or something.

EDIT: Oh yes, almost forgot, I hate stupid people.

Do something really stupid and sue somebody for it.
For example, throw yourself in front of a bus, pretend to be injured, sue the bus company, and get millions!
God Bless America!

Ah, the sites working for me now. Voted!

Is sylpher.com down?
None of the sites hosted on it seem to be working properly right now.
At least not for me at the moment.
But what strikes me as odd is that they worked fine for me yesterday..
Hope the site gets back up. I want to vote, so my demo can get at least one vote ;)

Have I ever told you people how much I love you all?
Because really, I do.
You can download it here, if you want.
On second thought, no need to download it. Or play it. But please, one demo game vote, that's all we ask..

I just died in your arms tonight, must have been something you didn't vote for (like Tom Mato's Grand WingDing)

The artwork looks amazing. I love the amount of detail.
The mountain in the background looks very 'Nightmare before Christmas'-esque, by the way.

I have like 300 channels, but all i need to watch is HBO.

The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, the list goes on and on.

That and the latest movies, which you can watch before anyone else gets em.

Although watching cable is probably much more rewarding if it's not stolen..

Haha, I love it.

It combines the unholy manic-depressive mumbo-jumbo of the original and adds a little 'Christmas Spirit'!
Although, I must admit, my favorite part was the text floating outside of the demon-lighthouse thing. I guffawed heartily at that one.

And DG, I think it only adds to the original, as it helps give some perspective to my opinion on the original one (I enjoyed the first one, but my overall opinion can pretty much be summarized as "WTF?")

Good animation, very funny.
About the voices, good considering this is the first one, but i always pictured Guitarman's voice being a cross between the voice of 'Gopher' on the Winnie-The-Pooh cartoons and the voice of Grandpa Simpson.
A dash of common hobo, too.

General Discussion / Re:Saddam Captured?

On the previously mentioned discussion of whether Spain was allied with Germany:
I believe that Spain remained neutral throughout the war. However, they might as well have been allied with Germany. On the other hand, one act by the Spanish government (with the endorsement of an extremely high-ranking Nazi official whose name escapes me) greatly helped to speed up Germany losing the war.
You see, at this time the Allies had claimed the Straits of Gibralter, and were proceeding to take North Africa, Italy, and the likes. If Hitler had been able to take the Straits back, it would have been a brutal blow to the allied war machine. Rather then spending Germany's already spread-thin military to invade yet another country, Hitler saw that he could probably convince the Spanish government to simply let the German army pass through freely. Before he went to negociate himself, however, he sent the aforementioned official. An unwise move, on Hitler's part. You see, this official, like many in latter-day Nazi Germany, was beginning to lose trust in Hitler, and took steps to see that he lost the war. This official also happened to be a close personal friend to many people in the Spanish government, and he quickly convinced them to not let Hitler freely move through Spain. Spain listened, and when Hitler himself came, the Spanish agreed to let him move his military, but set a ludicrous fee on the deal. Of course, Hitler didn't have the resources to pay the fee or enough resources to invade Spain, so he gave up on retaking the Straits.
Of course, the Straits proved invaluable to the Allied war effort.
So, to answer your question, they might as well have been allies, at least through most of the war, but Spain inadvertently delivered a crushing blow to the Nazi war effort.
Pretty much sure that those details are right, if my memory serves me well.

Anyway, on this whole Saddam thing, I'll just classify myself as 'Anti-Saddam'.

Whoah, Look at this thread:
Started in January
Holy Crap, that's old

When we think it dead
We think it's gone and buried
Then BAM! It is there

So why does it live?
What is it with the haikus?
I now eat my foot.

I imagine that the families of the almost one million people that Saddam is estimated to have mass-murdered are pretty happy about his capture.

Actually, I read a book on various psycological things, and in one chapter they talked about how blind-readings from psychics(where they obtain no previous information on the person) use phrases that, although somewhat vague, are specific enough to be believed. Even being that specific, they tend to apply to a large majority of human conditions.
This site probably uses a similar method.
And most people found something that they didn't agree with, anyway.
So it's not scientific or anything, but it's still a good trick.

Tried all of those, none of them worked. Checked all the scripts and everything, no luck.
But, just for the heck of it, I tried setting the GUI used in the jukebox to GUI 1 (which was empty anyway), I set everything up the same way, changed around all the room script to accomodate the different GUI, and oddly enough, everything works fine now.
Odd, but I got it to work, at least.
