It sounds outstanding. But the style of that character doesn't seem suited to it.

What do you mean? You think that for a story like that I need realistic character?

Here is some info of my new game called "Metaphysical graffiti".

Features:
- New kind of interaction: thinking about objects, characters or situations (there is a "brain" cursor that allows you to think about hotspot content).
- Brief history of philosophy (major metaphysical works and their authors) right there under your cursors.
- Two maps (local and world), available almost anywhere in the game.
- Communicating with main character itself!
- Taking notes and using them as inventory items.
- Character Mortimer Morgan from "Coup de cup", MAGS winner, by kind permission of JAZ.
- 800 x 600 Hi- res, Low contrast graphics.
- Story driven plot (not without puzzles, off course)

Story:
On a world very similar to ours, Mortimer Morgan, metaphysics and ontology professor suspects that something is very wrong with his knowledge of basics of men's existence: one day, windows error message appears in his study room, making him believe that he is nothing but a character in an adventure video game…

Progress:
GUI's: 100 %
Music: 100%
Graphics and scripting: 20%

Here are (real size) screenshots:

There is one thing that bothers me: I don't know if people would be interested in learning about metaphysics, ontology or any branch of philosophy trough the game. So, what I would like to hear from you is not about quality of graphics, character or a story, the main thing I would like to know is: would it be strange and too school-like for you to play a game where you would have to read about quotes of famous philosophers, their biographies and so on….
So, the question is (as stated in title): would you play a game like this at all?

As many times is stated before, you can't make mp3 into midi. Here are the reasons: Midi files are sheet music and they are played by internal PC keyboard (instrument) and they sound different on every PC. And mp3 (WAV and OGG...) are real sound files that sound the same on any PC. But most of music creation programs can export their files to midi - that is what was ment when stated "you better use midi files".

Don't think twice, just use Photoshop (if you can), for there is no better raster based graphic program!

Well, I feel that that's basically what RPGs have done to remain so strong in 'market' place.Ã,  People are still playing RPGs because they have 'evolved' where (most) adventure games have not.Ã,  And all of us here at AGS (or rather a vast majority) prove that point daily.Ã,  We still use 320x200 graphics!!Ã,  While I love the retro ... it's not moving forward and is why, I think, the genre has dropped off the scene.

This is true. I noticed that most of the games use 320 x 200 resolution, very few use 640 x 480 and I don't think I have ever seen 800 x 600 AGS game!! While retro is nice sometimes, it would be nice to see something other. Don't tell me that my new game ("Metaphysical graffiti") is going to be first 800 x 600 AGS game ever made?!?

Chasing the dragon is using opium. Opium is from the east originally, hence dragon. My first impression was also drugs, but it has a rather mystical qaulity to it.

Chasing the dragon is term for using any drug by vapourising (heroin, opium, hashish).

Yes, I got to do something with my bum :-[
Backgrounds will be painted (not 3d rendered if that's what you mean). Front view help anyone?
#235
So, what's the problem? If object is hidden it doesn't matter if it is in front or behind the door. And when door is open the door object itself is moved, so it doesn't matter again if it is back or in front. Or am I missing something?

General Discussion / Re: Teachers strike

Well, it looks like I am looking at things from completely different perspective, since I am a teacher. And there are few things that I'd like to point: No one can rate you knowledge if he (or she) didn't each you anything. Your gonverment will surely find the best sollution of this problem. Another thing: all the things you said about teachers I could tell about my students. There is good and bad in everything. (As Loenard Cohen once said: "There is crack in everything, that's how the light gets in").
Everything will be OK!

Ok, here's the link. It's a self-extracting exe-file and it's about 848 kb:

http://tim.vd.hoeven.free.fr/MonsterIsland.exe

The original game is in Dutch so I tried to translate it in English. Some parts of the game could still be in Dutch. You can only play the island map. Try walking from the bridge to the beach (by first clicking on the bridge and then on the tree). Or try walking from the beach to tree, that's impossible too.

If you meant the game project, I could upload that on my site too, but I'm afraid that my ideas and artÃ,  will be stolenÃ,  :-[.

Your exe will be no good to us for checking (maybe if we reverse enginere it....).
And about your art and ideas.... yes, by all means, keep it away from dirty old men like us!

How did you get past the gnome to go to the wizard?

Spoiler

Use potion with book (or vice-versa) to find out what kind of potion it is, and then use it on dragon (only when you are in the same room as gnome. Now you are invissible and you can pass!
