I think you should use such artistic talent for things that don't violate copyright and are original. I'd love to see something original from you.

I got an email back from them saying that its ok as long as its not a commercial product. If your still unsure, don't worry, this isn't the only project I'm working on.

I say if someone can do a Dr Who game, I can do a Simpsons game. so HAH!

The warped perspective looks very good and interesting, though I can't image how you're going to make this a playable room- a character would have to be skewed, streched AND warped to move from one door to the other.

Apart from that, there's little to crit here. That's the Simpson's living room, yes? Very faithful to the original. Can't really crit anything. Or, better put: It looks very good, let us the the final version soon!

Its a challenge, but these type of rooms have been done before. Look at the games Toonstruck, Curse of Monkey Island, and Day of the Tentacle. All been done before, all completely doable. Thanks for the crit.

Okay, I just finished sketching out the TV Room for the 'Simpsons Adventure' game.

Before I go onto tracing and cell shading, what do you think should be fixed or added. I know the couch needs to be redone mainly because the perspective of it is really unusual. Other than that, what do you think?

EDIT: Digitalized in illustrator. Still have line work and more detail to finish.

I'm a newb, and yet i'm not a newb.

Anyways, hey guys, I'm Brad. Ive lurked around these forums for a long time. I think ever since the project started. Anyways, I decided to settle in with these forums since I'm now starting up two projects, and one test game using the AGS engine. I'm currently in college achieving the major for the Game Arts & Multimedia Arts program. At the top of my class I'm currently working with my Professor Sean Osborne who currently works at Activision. My dream is to become a legendary artist to create though provoking content for games, films, and music.

Hope to meet more of you guys. My xfire account is psychogod23, so hit me up whenever you guys have a chance. :D

Oh and check out my signature to read my blog and developer diaries.

And as a last note, are any of you Trilby fans? Cause I don't know if it's a coincidence, but the game reminds me a little bit of the Trilby Series. People disappearing, walking around doing stuff and when you least expect it, something kills a friend of yours, etc.
Anyway, keep up the good work guys!

Play Gabriel knight, or basically every other adventure game set to a serious tone.

BTW, great game Sektor! I think I might just write a review of it in my blog.

I'm currently looking for some avid artists an developers to help join me in creating the first Star Wars adventure game. This project will play out like the sam & max episodic series. The game is called 'Star Wars: Jax Stories'. Each episode progresses the story with a different case, all connected in some devious way.

Clip from the dev blog [LINK]'You control of the character 'Shaden Jax', the best PI on planet Coruscant. Well, at least he thinks he's the best. Little does he know that small clues laid along his long journey of suspense and mystery will uncover a dark Sith secret.

The first episode is titled 'Mystery of the Stone Cold Twi'lek'. In this episode Shaden is hired by a female Twi'lek by the name of Nali Zem. At her disposable she requests you to investigate her sister's untimely demise. As Shaden investigates, he soon finds out that things are going to get worse.

Our goal is to create a episodic series with 2 hours playtime each. As short as they may seem, we hope to be able to satisfy those who love classic adventure games and those who want a perfected episodic gameplan.'

Right now I'm almost done writing out the script for the first episode. After i'm done, we'll begin production.

At the moment, the only visual element I have is the logo.

The game will play out like the lucasarts game 'Full Throttle' where the left mouse button moves the character and the right click brings up the actions wheel which displays various ways to interact.

I also envision cut scenes to be similar to Gabriel Knight, where the action is done through the 2d background and sprites, plus comic book box cells with illustrated animated artwork.

Besides the basic visual features, I want to incorporate mini games like gun fights, car chases, etc.

So to help this innovative dream come true, I'm going to need the help of others.

At the moment these are the following areas that I need filled in:

1-3 Conceptual Artists: Considerable experience here, I need concepts for character designs, weapons, basic environment layouts, objects.

1-2 Graphic Artists: I need graphic designers to create promotional artwork such as posters, and character artwork (Artwork placed with character bios).

1 GUI Artist: A pixel artist who can draw out gui layouts that can be cut up and used for the gui programmer.

1 GUI Programmer: I need the programmer to incorporate the interaction wheel various minigames.

1-2 Background Artists: Preferably digital artists with considerable experience to create 640x400 background art.

1-2 Animators: To start things off I'll need the main character created into sprite form and animated for movement.

1 Sound Effects: Someone who is friendly with star wars sound effects that can supply quality audio to be used in-game.

If you are interested, please either PM me or email me at bradnewsom@gmail.com

Well, that's pretty much the one and only main feature of the plugin. :P All the rest relates to how to display the character.

Oh, from the screenshots, I thought it was just a module for creating the character and world in 3d.
#209
I don't know if this has been said yet, but can we use this module to make the player character 3d and keep a 2d background, similiar to Syberia?

I like this Rating Panel idea. It may not dissuade you, but it gives a professional view of what they think of the game. I prefer to go with what the panel has to say instead of the overall community. For instance in a abandonware site I saw the game Future Wars. It was rated 5 by the website and 3.2 by the community. I loved the game, and once I replayed the game, it was still something golden. The community most of the time doesn't understand why things are rated a certain way and sometimes rate it just for the fact its not there type of game, which is really unreliable. Newgrounds is a great example of this.

All in all, i'm all for the rating panel.

Maybe in two more years i'll be able to put my hand in the rating panel. Ive worked for a lot of abandonware websites and freeware sites rating videos games for about 6 years, so hopefully soon i'll be able to get back into it for the better good. :)

This is just TOO FUN! j/k. I wish I had this last term, would've been a real help. Interesting program by the way, I don't think there is one online that is as easy as this one.

need help in office:
Spoiler
I got the paper clip from Mansin's folder. Now what do I do?  I can't use the clip on anything. Seems my objectives now are to open the little cupboard door and of course to open the office door. What do I do next?
[close]

Please give direct answer, not hints

Spoiler

Use the paperclip on the keyhole on the door that leads out of the room. If you mouseover the right area, it will say keyhole not door.

Yes, calling someone (in this case a moderator) a smartass for pointing out a few obvious issues with your mission/post isn't really the best way to start your time on these forums, and I only hope your attitude isn't typically so brash as it will only bring you trouble.  As I mentioned before, a few games will go a long way to giving you some credibility on which to build interest in your endeavors, just don't expect everyone to be immediately interested and impressed with someone who hasn't produced anything because, frankly, we get similar claims on this board pretty regularly by people that aren't dedicated and just disappear.  No offense.

Ive seen those type of people a lot in the hl2world.com and moddb.com forums. I frequent those sites a lot and I totally understand were your coming from. I'm full aware of my mistakes and I wish to understand ways to avoid them in the future.

As I said before, I hope to better my image by contributing myself to these forums and its projects. :)

Anyways, while reading this thread, I decided to look through my old documents and found a couple of stories I wish to make in AGS. In the end, I think it would be best to produce some good AGS games before I really settle in here. I think i'll frequent this site as there are a lot of great idealists and creative artists.

Good for you! When you've made a game and ildu and I (well, I at least) still haven't, you can rub it in our faces.

I should also say that I definitely wouldn't mind a Journeyman Project remake, especially given that Pegasus Prime was a Mac-only title.

The Journeyman Chronicles has been around since the beginning of last year, but due to an ignorant choice my Assistant chose cause the project to be put on hold. Damn legalities. Only recently when I attended the Anime Expo at Long Beach, CA that I had a chance to meet up with Tommy Yune, the Conceptual Artist for the Journeyman Project and Artist for Robotech. Surprising enough, the members of presto studios took great interest in my project, but my assistant accidentally gave the president of Presto Studios the feeling that we wanted the license for Commercial use. Only recently (a month ago) I realized this mistake and took it up with Tommy at AX. Officially we came to the conclusion that the Journeyman Chronicles will be a freeware product. If the first chapter of the project is quality enough, the project will become commercial.

So hopefully things will work out, but not until next year. haha

This is some top notch stuff! Definitely reckons continuation! Although I think a couple of things couldve been done better, which has already been pointed out, I think this will deserve a special place on AGS! :D

Come to think of it, i'm sorry this had to be my welcoming thread.  ::) Thanks guys. :D

Thanks for the help Limping Fish. My work can be found in my personal development blog at http://darthrelak.blogspot.com/

The Journeyman Chronicles will not begin production on early next year, so thats the problem that lies in front of me.

Okay, I figured out the rest of it. It's as simple as one two three.

Spoiler
1. Use the hammer on the sign.
2. Use the hacksaw on the top part of the sign.
3. Use the newly found halves of wood with the sign post.
4. Stick the new slingshot into the hole you got the sign from.
5. Use the brick with the slingshot.....POW!
6. Walk out.

You forgot to mention

Spoiler

Before you can place the slingshot in the ground, you must get the tire tube from the evidence room found on the chainsaw, and place it on the makeshift slingshot

Try not to pull a michael moore here.

Produce a thought provoking documentary? Address pertinent but neglected issues and injustices of our modern civilization?
I don't see what this has to do with game making!

Also, writing a post on a public forum sort of obligates you to be able to meet and handle criticism. You can't decline criticism on a forum that isn't your own.

no, manipulating footage to make it go your way, not the original way.

I rather understand what you're asking for however, my ideas will remain mine for now.

Best of luck with your venture.

However ...

Quote from: BradNewsom on Sun 08/07/2007 20:24:32PPS: No criticism please.

That's basically the same thing as saying, "please tear me apart for my idea!" because as you said...

Cheers.
