Now you've made me think of (and therefore want to play) Arcanum again. I hope you're proud of yourself.  >:( :=

In different news, great theme.

Is the game that bad? I've always wanted to play it an never heard of it being related to Bugs or Dead Ends. haha

Congrats Progz. I left this community for a month or so and I find that no one even entered the contest besides you. Thats too bad. Oh well, congrats again.

Leave remakes to the professionals please. By remake, I mean something greater than just bringing the game to AGS.

(There is already a remake of the first game that is more than worthy for a modern AGS game. So there is no point in remaking it yet again.)

Or in game design terms, its an obstacle. Mini games are usually skipable (well at least in most adventure games).

Well i hate this kind of Minigames, which doesnt belong to the actual game, so this isnt allowed.
In this competition, the Minigame should make sense in relation to the actual game.

Example:

Your Maincharacter fails to open a door.
possible Minigames:
1.
The Character go to a gym, and lifts some wheigts with an easy waggle Minigame.
After that your Character is strong enough to pull the door out of the hinges.

2. The Character find a lockpick
Short lockpick minigame (Example - The Heist)

3. The character find a crowbar
Short minigame where the char, opens the window with the crowbar.

Indeed. Kudos for those that offer various mini games all that occur through various possible solutions to an obstacle, instead of just one solution.

Also I'd like to make it clear on my previous statement. Obstacles and Mini Games are not the same.

An ATM number panel is not a minigame unless the definition has really changed.  Minigames are things like punching people, throwing darts at a board, jumping bottles, sliding tile puzzles, that sort of thing.

Or in game design terms, its an obstacle. Mini games are usually skipable (well at least in most adventure games).

Awesome. If that's how you like it, then cool. Glad you found the look that when in your favor. I personally like it. It doesn't feel busy nor confused your eyes.

I think we are seeing things because we are a bunch of freaks. Honestly, even though it may look like the stated, it looks absolutely fine for what he is trying to accomplish. A poofy skirt, a little girl, and the fact that the skirt bounces back looks absolutely correct for what we see here.

Looks fine to me..

EDIT: Possibly, to get these guys minds off of a big butt and pregnancy of a little girl (eeeww), you should add more bounce and fluidity to the skirt. She looks pregnant because the area in front (the bulge) is pretty static. Skirts with wires or the like have some sort of bounce to them. Try that out and see if it fixes it.

I want to agree about the legs, but I think artistically, its fine.

Damn it, this isn't working. I'm out. :( Unless I can fix it in t-6.

For animator, I suggest finding someone who can record video in front of a greenscreen, and understands how to compile them into useable animation and into sprite form. I would love to do it myself since Ive done it before for my Film Class got an award for best use of Green Screen in Video Game at my college. The problem is that I have no filming classes this term.

I would offer my services if I do get a chance to use the set and greenscreen room. We just got some HD Camcorders in this term, and I need a reason to use them.

My only problem is finding actors. You will have to find me someone here who lives in Southern California who can assist me with actors.

This will all come at a cost though. I want to have a hand in fixing up the backgrounds. I love what I see, but there is too many inconsistencies which I can fix.

Well, hope this project is going well. :D

The new screenshot is definitely much better. Are you stilling using the Light filter in other backgrounds?

What looks wrong with the room is that it slopes outward as it moves up, rather than maintaining a square shape, and this skews all the doors and angles strangely.

Nothing wrong with that - it's just two-point perspective (with one vanishing point in the centre and one far below the image). This is geometrically correct as the eye level is closer to the ceiling than to the floor. I agree, though, that it looks odd in an adventure game, where one-point perspective is pretty much standard.

Also I prefer that look. It gives it a Three Dimensional Look to it, which is always welcomed. Now it looks boring.

Oh no!

I'm seeing coming a new wave of Akatosh easygraphic games!!! xD

No, the style seems improved, but is need to be how fit this in a 680x640 resolution as much... 'cause in 320x240 the outlines could be very Biig.

Mmm, have you thinked to use the floating hands in the walkcycle, as many flash games? It could be cool

Correction, 640x480 and 320x200.

BTW, how do these images count as huge? Does most of the people here run there computere solution at 640x480?

I kid though. haha Looks great Akatosh. Too bad there is no vector engine within AGS. It'd be great to be able to create a totally flexible game using vector game assets outside of flash. :D Vector is the future!

This isn't exactly the place to discuss such a subject. This forum is used for criticizing work, not discussing the best program of sorts.

When the legs reach the furthest position forward, they don't straighten up. Thats another problem. Also, as mentioned before, the kick back is too much.

Why don't you try Gimp? It's free and it is much better than PaintShopPro.

Good art isn't dependent on what program you use.

True, but it provide tools to make creating art a little easier. Im more of a Photoshop fan than anything else.

Honestly, if your doing a planetscape, just go on google and look for photos planets. Various elements like Light Diffusal caused by the Atmosphere, or the Atmosphere itself giving a gassy extra layer look to the planet. Lots of stuff should be taken into consideration.

AGS Games in Production / Re: FALLEN LEGEND

If you want to go commercial, never use photoshop filters. They look horrendous, especially with the beautiful artwork underneath it. Find otherways to create lighting. Just NEVER use photoshop filters (except blur, sharpen, and the more subtle ones)

well, it's your opinion. In mine opinion, Head is'nt John.

1) John is american, not Eslovenian.
2) Don't have this ears, and less have this Mindless thug face.
3) And Finally, as little detail, the clothes are gray xD Yes, I know in the pic the clothes seems gray, but they'red or black, normally

With some edits Sure it will be much more john crichton, but actually not.

Anyway, as I said, fantastic sprite and fantastic style ^^

I see what your saying.

1) Just raise his eyebrows. It looks eslovenian because their eyebrows usually are close to there eyes. Also the use of shadowing may have caused this.
2) I guess. Remove a few pixels off of the top of the ear and it should look right.
3) Not hard at all to fix. :D

Better?

Reup. Looked a little to brown before.

Incredible full-trotter character, but Absolutely is not John Crichton xD

Anyway, the style could rocks for a very good graphical game.

Are you talking about Progz sprite? I say it looks EXACTLY like John, if not more than the OP's sprite.

I picture the pose for the Sorceress with her facing south, levitating with her arms opposite from each other. As if the forces of gravity and wind work for her.
