Completed Game Announcements / Re: Life

I actually didn't write the game, I only scripted it.

but I do consider myself a nihilist and I don't considered that to be pessimistic.

A roller-coaster takes you back to the exact spot you got on at... doesn't mean the ride is any less fun.

I may have stated this repeatedly in the past, but I have yet to experience another forum as courteous as AGS.

Agreed, I'm a member of alot of forums and the AGS one is easily the best, and the only one i post on regularly, for 2 reasons.

1) Moderators are not tyrannical - Sometimes Mod power goes to peoples head and they police the place like the bloody gestapo. The second anyone says anything slightly subversive (religion, politics etc) it gets locked and all discussion gets destroyed and then everyone walks around on egg shells. People here are free to speak their mind, which leads me to my second point

2) People here don't take everything as a personal attack - With the odd exception most people here behave maturely and react positively to criticism. Often people go fucking mental the second someone says something negative about them/their work but here that doesnt seem to be the case.

My 2 cents.

We are very accommodating of newbies providing they are courteous and sensible.

I believe for this to work the background graphic also needs to have an alpha channel.

can bottoms ever stick out more than they should?

She's just a curvy gal.

incidentally why would this thread be unsuitable for those under the age of 13?

Actually the rain plugin cant add alpha channels either. If you use an alpha channel sprite on the rain module the sprites are just white blocks when it flattens the image.

Technically the rain plugin is obsolete now since everything it does could technically be done on guis or overlays without the cross platform wrecking dlls.

I had a go at a platform engine a while ago, which turned into the following

I'd be happy to release the source but it is very very messy.

Edit: it was built with 3.1.2

yeah the "best" way to do it is to extract the objects from the background, clone the area behind and then use them as objects with alpha blended edges. but that would take a fair amount of work and rotoscoping skill.

Does anythign strike you as odd about the "other games by Shade" bit?

on my computer it says "life" and "McCarthy Chronicles Episode 1"

So i assume theres an odd little bug on this page that makes it display the games by whoever is logged in as well...

doesnt do it on any other pages.

I still think a full 8-bit alpha channel on drawing surfaces would be the most useful thing to add.... by far

@Haddas, do you know to "how"? ::)

actually i think his original phrase makes sense.

if you consider "know" as in "i know kung fu"
and "to be" as the infinitive "being"

then it works.

Just now the forums were down for me. It soon picked up again, but I was just wondering whether there is a back-up plan if, for some reason, the forums went down permanently?

Go to lookout point and flash your torch into the sky 3 times whilst wearing a single red rose in your lapel.

Someone will come for you.
