I stand corrected. I didnt realise you had photographic evidence.

if youre truly interested to know how water based animals made it onto the land i can tell you :p

The first animals on land were arthropods. These animals dont have gills or lungs, they breathe using things in their body called sphericals which directly absorb oxygen from the air/water. It wasn't like a trout hopped out the water and gave the whole breathing thing a go.

However there are also animals with gills which live on land. The mudskipper for instance.

Theory, in a scientific sense, is the highest level of proof possible. Definitive proof is only valid in mathematics.

We also have the theory of gravity and atomic theory (both of which by the way have LESS supporting evidence than evolution) but no one questions those.

And yes the global flood HAS been disproved through geological records. It would be very very easy to detect a massive global flood in the strata but it just isnt there. It never happened.

Also the idea of being 'zapped into existence' have also been proven wrong due to a great deal of things. We understand a lot about the formation of planets and the evolution of species and absolutely NOTHING points to someone clicking their fingers. It just doesn't fit the evidence.

as for the age of the earth, biblical scholars date the creation story to have taken place between about 5500 BC and about 4000 BC.
They come to this age using the genealogies present in the bible starting with the creation of Adam (who lived till he was 930 years old by the way).
Christians who do not believe in evolution generally accept this time scale. (the pentecostal faith teaches the earth is likely to end within their lifetimes too)

I have a question for you all though. Why is it that believers in the theory of evolution get so heated over the fact that some people believe in the theory of creation? Both are widely accepted, legitimate scientific theory. There is supporting evidence for both. Neither has been proven or disproven.

What?

Creationism (just like the existence of (a) god(s) ) is a belief/claim, not a "scientific theory". And simple claims don't need to be disproven.

Widely accepted? Perhaps in the United states and some other countries (like Turkey).

Supprting evidence for Creationism? Please enlighten me.

I'm glad someone took you to task on that monkey! :p

We have disproved creationism on several points. The Flood didnt happen, the earth isnt 6000 years old and mankind wasnt zapped into existence instantly.

Those are all demonstrable and simple FACTS

Legitimate scientific theory my arse...

I would go for the Calin´s last version though  ;D Youve put a lot of effort in it

Actually this was the simplest recording ive done in a long time.. sit in front of a microphone and play.
It was all a single take, took about 15 minutes from start to finish.

Thanks for breaking your silence for that :p

I agree thats just pure laziness on my part.. and i should really have fixed it.
#3127
oh, well thank you for being honest. I'll see if i can improve the quality of the acting for the next episode.
#3128
its episodic and thus short.

the second episode will be longer though. Consider episode 1 an intro i guess.

The groundskeeper was supposed to sound wise and enlightened in an odd kind of way. Whether i achieved that or not is debatable i guess.
#3129
Well any help you think you can give is ofcourse 110% appreciated. I would very much like as much publicity as possible i suppose. Let me know if you need anything from me.

Not only that, but on second day there's still a light in the window, although you may enter the room and notice that there's no light on inside (thankfully Sarah is not seen in the window while being in the kitchen at the same time :P); and when looking on it McCarthy sais that he thinks "there's someone in the room".

Apart from that - inventory arrows allow you to shift items up to 1 unnoccupied slot.

She runs upstairs everytime you leave the house :p

And the inventory arrows thing was intentional to show the player that that is the end of the inventory items.

kind of you to say so.

As for episode 2 I'm hoping for a 6 week dev cycle. Hopefully looking to release by february.

And open a few doors? You're really going to have to elaborate on that because currently you sound like one of my spam emails. :p

So when is the shadowy cabal of the review panel likely to get to my game?

I'd like to know how many Big Blue Cups I need to put on my mantlepiece.

Seriously though.. do you all wear cloaks?

..and whats the password to get into your lair?
#3133
no Yahtzee games?

I refuse to be influenced by the perception of yahtzee and can seperate the art from the artist.

I fully recommend the John Defoe series and the 1213 series by yahtzee.
#3134
its slightly odd in 32-bit games

255,0,255 doesnt work when using drawpixel so it may be the same for import (you have to use COLOR_TRANSPARENT in the script)

Critics' Lounge / Anti Aliasing
Fri 04/12/2009 01:43:31
My girlfriend is currently making a sprite based game for her art degree and shes recently made this sprite.

I was wondering if anyone could do a quick paint over showing how anti aliasing can be used.
It matters because the game is going to be an Xbox 360 game and the sprite looks un acceptably blocky at that res.

I do realise how rude it is to basically ask for an example but.. meh i'm rude.

Edit: also any critique or paintovers are welcome without AA

to be honest I didnt particularly perceive the 'gay'.

It sounded like a fairly average 20ish year old. I was convinced. I've heard far far worst.

I think perhaps you were trying to emulate my delivery a little which wasnt that good in the first place.

I also second the VA competition.
#3137
yes you win,  ;D

Im fairly confident thats unbeatable by mortal hands :p
#3138
All of those things have already been flagged up :p

but thanks for mentioning them.

Originally I made my voice much more gravelly but then as time when on (about 500 voice files later) I kinda forgot and just lapsed into my natural speaking voice.. which happens to sound like a 14 year old girl.. matches the way i look quite nicely :p

That is not true, not at all.  There are many differnet TYPES of beliefs regarding evolution vs creationism.  Hell, I found 3 different poll/studies from 3 different (news) sources within 10 minutes which go against the numbers you are stating:

CBS News : http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/10/22/opinion/polls/main965223.shtml

51% say we Evolved, but God guided the process
30% say we Evolved, but God did NOT guide the process
15% say it was Creationism, and NOT evolution.

81% belief in Evolution,  that is a far cry from the numbers you listed.

Here is another one..

Gallup Poll for Darwin's birthday : http://www.usnews.com/blogs/god-and-country/2009/02/11/gallup-darwins-birthday-poll-fewer-than-four-in-ten-believe-in-evolution.html

Basically saying education plays a big role in this.  Idiots with lots of religion play into the belief system, while 70+% with college graduate degrees believe in evolution.   This one says 39 percent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution.  25% say they don't believe in evolution, and 36% say they have no opinion.

And the third one:

National Geographic : http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/08/060810-evolution.html

Basically saying Americans are less likely than other Western nations to believe in evolution.  The numbers given though are 25% of Americans rejecting evolution, versis 7% in GBR and 15% in the Netherlands.

So the numbers here are higher than Europe, but by no means 50%.  I think it again goes into the theory that many Europeans have a negative stereotype of Americans being bumbling, bible thumping idiots.  Sure, some are, but that is the way in every country (as was established earlier).

**EDIT:  And I am allowed to hijack this thread, since I started it lol**

You've read the first poll wrong due to bad page formatting..

read above... 51% believe god created man in his present form..

sorry to break that to you..

your second poll puts the number at around 41%... still stupidly high

and your last source says only 14% believe evolution to be definately true!

your sources dont support your conclusion
