Alright, I got it!  I'll read it through a few times and then see what I can hammer out.

I was dissapointed when the main character turned out to a male.

Heh, that was my fault.  Carmine said "no, sir" to him.  So actually, it was Carmine's fault.  Blame her.

I'd be up for that, Andail.  ;D

Wow, this was... quite the read.  Boggles the mind, it does!

I still don't know whether Vince was joking or not, but I think it would be awesome for a bunch of us to contribute assets for an adventure game.  With everybody throwing art, dialogue and scripting into the mix we'd get something as bizarre and cobbled as the story itself!

I can't access that site from work.  Has anyone submitted "Verb of the Adjective Nouns"?

I know I'm excited.  I've seen less of the thing than anyone!

Edit: I just had a thought.  Who's going to make the adventure game version of this story?  It's sure to be a front runner for the P3N1S award.

That's not a half-bad idea.  Maybe we could convince everyone involved in the story to contribute a bit of graphics, writing, or code?

Sounds fun!  I'd like to be in on this.

I don't mind being first, but if someone really wants it, that's fine too.  Wherever I may fall, my email address is menglen at hotmail dot com.

That raises an interesting question.  Maybe he truly is homophobic in the clinical sense.  Maybe his reaction, psychologically, is the same as an arachnophobe discovering that the barber is actually a giant spider.

Okay, that was silly.  But do you get my point?  Maybe he wasn't issuing a judgement on the barber at a personal level, just acting out of a crippling fear.  True terror vs. utter dislike.

Some people are afraid of milk.  Some people juggle geese.

Nice little slice of life there.  I've seen similar things happen to people.

Great job calling up a preconcieved notion and then turning it around all in just a couple of lines.

I love the way you told your joke without overstating it.  Subtle and effective.

Well, whereas interpretors like AGS might be a bit overkill for the DS's tight memory limits, I'll point out that there is an unofficial devkit out there.  Further utilizing said devkit is a library called "PALib" which handles a lot of the more common functions.

Perhaps a team of savvy AGSers could use the devkit to build a library specifically for adventure games?  I'm sure it could all start with some well-developed classes for characters, rooms, inventory objects, etc, and would not be complete without a pathfinder.

This could be made even better with templates for GUIS and whatnot.

It wouldn't be as user-friendly as AGS, but it would take a lot of the burden off the more competent programmers who want to make an adventure game for the DS but don't want to code themselves to death in the process.

Eventually, who knows... maybe a graphical interface that outputs code which could be run through the devkit's included NDS compiler?

I think he meant "Blastronauts", who just so happen to be astronauts with blasters.

But... I thought that all astronauts have those...  ???

On Birthdays:

Her glossy black nails reflected a red bow as, with a yank, she freed a brightly wrapped parcel from its ribbon, and as said ribbon fell to rest, draping itself across the knee of her black leather pants, she tore away the paper and opened the box.

“A lacy, pink sweater.  Thanks, grandma.”

Cornered, the mouse withdrew a toothpick from its belt of twine.  It lashed wildly; a hot crimson bead fell upon the floor as the wooden sabre cracked and splintered, having met the large dark pad upon a large clawed foot.  The cat retreated hastily so that it may address its wound.  A scarlet trail followed.

It's your heel, isn't it?

Yeah, the poster's a bit on the "College Kid's Webcomic" side.

It has that distinct "Alien Hominid" flavor to it.

Yes, I came across this news yesterday and my jaw dropped a bit.  I also found out that he's helping out with the Penny-Arcade game, but I don't know to what capacity.

Let me know when you get into the process and I'd be happy to provide you with some voice.  I'm a 27 year-old guy, but my voice is pretty flexible and I've been acting for well over a decade.  I can probably do multiple characters for you.

The problem is that the recording equipment on my computer is pretty well below par, but good enough to provide you with any sample you may want.  If you're interested after that, I may have to mail you a tape or something (in order to achieve the highest quality I can give you), but we'll cross that bridge later on when you're ready for voice.

Hah!  I was making mine while OneDollar posted, but I edited the neck too, so here it is.

Mine's just straight-up iso.  Now, do keep in mind that this robot still doesn't look like a fully formed robot... all of the parts have depth now, but it's all still the same depth.  Normally, the torso would be deeper than the arms.

If you're going for fully fleshed designs, this needs to be changed.  If you want sprites that look like they were pressed out with cookie cutters, don't let anyone tell you it's wrong.  It's a legitimate style choice as long as you keep it consistent.

No problem!  I'm happy to hear that it worked out!
