Rui--The problem cannot be solved by me and Dave alone! The main problem was 'People aren't paying attention to RoN anymore' and Dave and I already were, so I can't just make a RoN and say the Problem is gone. This thread is so people can discuss what can be done to re-popularize RoN. I'm sure we can stay and make games, but will anyone keep the tradition alive after we leave? If not, perhaps it is time to do something like start a new tradition. That's all I'm saying.

Thanks, JRock.

*hits head* The Moon!

How did I forget the moon???

I'll get right on that!

I suppose the gradient will be a job for Paint Shop Pro, however.

Here is a fogless redo:

Good point about the rock, and I'll see what I can do about the fog and the haze.

I didn't even notice about the water, but you are absolutely right. I made the texture too small. I fixed the rock, and the water.

And are you saying there is too much fog or the fog itself is too much, and should be done away with?

As for the island size, well, I used this as a reference photo:

I am trying to make the island hillier.

Critics' Lounge / 3D Background--Title Screen
Fri 13/04/2007 02:26:50

This is the screen where the title screen and first part of the intro scene will take place, and maybe used to separate time periods--essentially, this is the establishing shot, and you will see it a lot, so I want it to be good.

Criticisms, suggestions, etc?

(Sorry for making paint-overs not really an option...  ;))

Well, I PMed yht33 to see what he thinks of the idea about another RoN type game series, and I think that this could really liven up the AGS community (As if it needs it). This could indeed go someplace.

EDIT: Or of course it could just fall flat. I mean it could go someplace just as the last one did. I should save that for when the thread is more than one hour old. I am sorry, but I am dead tired. I canna think for the life of me! I promise I'll be less optimistic tomorrow.

So, there have been mumblings in another thread about the fate of RoN. (that is, the Reality-on-the-Norm series  :P) Well, I'm game to make one. Shall we keep the tradition alive, folks?

Or is RoN dead?

Shall we start new RoN-type game series thingy?

(I really am terrible at this thread-starting post writing. I feel I am too succinct, like my measly post isn't enough to start a whole thread. That first rule is so imposing...I don't know if this is interesting, helpful, or funny! I try...)

I'm far too poor (or perhaps lazy) to afford your games, Dave!

I'll have to stick with 'The Bestowers of Eternity.'  :'(

And Dave, you may want his power, but he wants your money.   ;D

I'm not sure I would want the Y man back. I go to FR regularly, but I also go to the FR forums, and he is still a prick. But he's funny as hell. And Trilby's Notes is the best freeware adventure game I've ever played.

I know about RoN! If you guys really want it to be saved, I'll go check it out... :)

Oh the humanity! It took Gilbot putting it into words, but I figured it out... I (rather foolishly) had the actual GUI itself be the thing needing to be clicked. Change that to the text box, and I'm ready to go...

I'm sorry for easy that ended up being, I'll do better next time, okay?  :-[

Okay, so I am making a text parser game, and so I opened up my original Test game(ah...memories) and quickly adapted it for text parsery. (I'll handle arrow key movement later...) Now, I understand all the advanced tenants of the text parser, all the scripting, etc, and, for the most part, it works just fine. But I have one problem...

The 'Enter' key does nothing. It seems to say right there in the manual that in text boxes it automatically converts standard keypresses to TextBox keypresses, and that Enter activates Interface_click...But that doesn't seem to be the case here. I have to actually click on the interface, and this is certainly not the desired result.

I'm certain this is some awful n00b mistake and I'll feel stupid once the answer comes out, but I've looked all over the manual and the BFAQ and can't find an answer for the life of me...

Quote from: those SmacktardsFact: Publishers exploit cute, huggable and lovable franchises such as Pokemon and Splinter Cell, in hopes of hooking more potential gamers in today's youth. This is the same strategy practiced in the tobacco industry.

That quote, paired with that inane picture and the fact that the name sucks bug time, seals in my mind the idea that these guys aren't for real. Kind of like video games.

Sparky, the dithering on the calendar and the phone are design elements--the day boxes and touch tones, respectively. You can tell on the calendar because a couple of the days are red. :P

In all seriousness, I have been rather dehydrated lately...

I shall get some water, because I don't have the time for a whole big long shower. Maybe some hot chocolate?

My main problem isn't that I'm out of ideas, it's really that I have to change something in a way that may require a lot of work...It's like I'm procrastinating, only I can't wait to open up AGS again.

EDIT: The original formatting was rather confusing and ambiguous.

EDIT2: The original formatting is now irrelevant, I changed the content!

The one thing I have a problem with---the one thing--is his mustache is straight, but his head is at an angle.

I doubt very much I'll be taking any drugs...

I'll just play some Sim City 4, see if that helps. I'm getting better! I don't cringe when I think about it!

I'm going off on a bike ride to Target, great exercise, and I'm gonna get either Sim City 4 or the Sims 2, for some totally off-topic gaming. That should help. Yesterday's Christopher Guest-athon helped some, but not enough for me to feel confident I won't try and start and get totally pissed (off) and abandon the idea.

I'm not from Singapore, but it's okay--I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
