Critics' Lounge / Re: Moonlight painting
Tue 31/07/2007 19:52:58
Well, a couple of design things...

The horizon is abrupt and doesn't curve at all, so it looks like sheet metal placed adjacent to someone's (admittedly realistic) painting of the Night Sky.

Second, the moon reflection doesn't look right to me, like it should taper on both ends...

But the coloration is nice.

More stars!

I put more effort in the beginning to playing single notes by just puckering up tighter, and intend master the tongue thingy a little bit later on.

And thanks for the correction, vict0r, I'll try that now...

*tries*

Well, it certainly doesn't sound wrong, so I'll take your word for it.

I'll try to find a definitive source somewhere, but I don't doubt I've made a mistake.

Tonality was never my strength.

EDIT: Failure has been changed to success!

EDIT2: Now I'm just nitpicking.

Sorry, I totally forgot about this thread.

www.harptabs.com is where I go for all my tab needs.

I can't really play as many songs as I should be able to given how long I've been playing (since November), although I play a mean 'Battle Hymn of the Republic.'

I could post a recording of that I made for a documentary, although it might be a bit embarrassing. My grandfather gave me a good tip today, and that is to play the scale (do, re, mi, etc.)  up and down, which appear to be 3, -3, 4, -4, 5, -5, -6, 6

(- means inhale, which is pretty standard in tabs.)

I just got a new Hohner Special 20 Diatonic C (Key of C means the lowest note--1--is C.), for my grandparents' 50th anniversary.

I play the harmonica, started in November.

Not terribly great yet, but it is a lot of fun. Don't go in there thinking it will be super easy to use, but practicing can be done at any time, really. It's a fun little instrument, and you can really impress people with some pretty basic songs.

I love it.  ;D

Have fun.

Hell yes!

I was looking forward to this game, and I don't even do that kind of thing.

Downloading now!  ;D

Critics' Lounge / Re: Need criticism

Well, the Graphics are standard amateur fare, certainly almost up there with Larry Vales, maybe a quick run through the Critic's Lounge on each sprite individually would help. (Well, not each sprite, of course. :P)

The animation is a bit fast, but seems smooth enough.

The up/down walkcycles leaves a bit to be desired. It looks like he trying to dance, or something.

The background works with the sprites. Simple, but effective.  ;D

Looks good. The graphics aren't distractingly bad, and are consistent (so far) so I'd certainly give a finished version a try.

EDIT: Added "consistent (so far)."

I'd like to offer up my services as Game Finisher! Have an unfinished project you just can't work on, but don't want to see die? Well, send me the whole shebang, with some notes on how you'd like it to end, and, provided it'll work with AGS 2.72 (although it shouldn't be a problem), I'll gladly complete it for you so you can show off that great idea you had before you got sidetracked with an even better one!

Naturally, there are some rules.

*Don't expect super quality graphics, but if I must supply new sprites and/or backgrounds, I'll do my best to match your style so it isn't inconsistent.
*Game should be at least half to 3/4 of the way done.
*English games only, please (well, unless you don't mind if there's no dialog)
*The game would be finished as soon as I could get to it, but no sooner!
*I will definitely not add any music. Unless you wouldn't mind a score played on the harmonica.
*As I am waiting for my own project to pick up some momentum, I do have the right to suspend both your project (although it wouldn't be very nice, so I probably wouldn't) and this offer.

I'd love the experience, so, if you're interested, just drop me a PM explaining what the game is about, how complete it is, if you have an ending for it, and a screen shot or two to give me the graphical feel.

****

Oh, and, I'd gladly do any 3D modeling for any project anywhere, although my skill level is questionable.

****

EDIT: And I would proof read just about anything. If I know anything, it's the English language.

EDIT2: Deleted a rule.

I knew there was a less clumsy method. *snaps fingers*

Live and Learn.

For Usermode 1, did you select 'Standard Cursor Mode?'

As for you second question, all you need to do is make a hotspot that covers the entire room, and handle the click under the Usermode 1 tab in the interaction editor for each room. Simple enough.

I started out with Moray and I have always felt an emotional connection with it, but I downloaded Blender around noon today. I'm gonna see if this is any good, and if it is, I'll switch, and remake the island scene in Blender.

General Discussion / Re: Intro movies - How?
Sat 05/05/2007 21:56:18
Well, this will be moved to General Discussion in about fifteen seconds, but do you want to make the animation, the video itself (as in, with sound), or the graphics?

LimpingFish...

You make me sad... :'(

I'm stuck using Moray...

Alas, I have no moneys!
#74
Just make all (or all but one) of the movements non-blocking. In scripting, this is the eBlock/eNoBlock paramter. In the interaction editor, I believe this is the option 'wait until move is finished,' which you set to true or false.
#75
Okay, I once again totally redid the island.

Whaddaya think?

IMO, the Spider-Man series was actually one of the best comic book-to movie-films I've seen. It sure is better than Fantastic Four.

Howard the Duck is better than Fantastic Four.

Next to GK3, GK1 is the equivalent of finding a hot, naked girl in your bed.
With huge knockers.
That taste like Oreos.
And dispense hunded dollar bills when the nipples are tweaked.

You have no idea.  ;)

I know I kinda missed the premarital sex bandwagon, but I'd like to say as long as two adults who take adequate protection and are willing to accept responsibility for their actions can have a one night stand or something like that. Of course, that could just be my raging teenage hormones talking.

Because two men can't reproduce!

There's actually a reasonable point here. If someone should see the purpose of intercourse to be reproduction and not pleasure, I could personally accept that as an argument to why it's not meant for two men or two women to have sex with each other.

Well, you did take that out of context. I said that is why the Story of Adam and Eve isn't the Story of Adam and Evan. I certainly wouldn't believe the story 'In the beginning God created to men and they gave birth to all humanity. And then they decided women should give birth in the future.'

I have no problem with homosexuality myself.

What -specifically- is wrong with two men or two women having sex?  And if you say "it's icky", you lose.
You don't think it's wrong, but I do, because the Bible says so. God intended sex and marriage to be between one man and one woman. Heck, if he didn't, then why weren't Adam and Eve two men?

Because two men can't reproduce!
