If you do - you might be pleased to hear that me and a couple of guys I know are RE-MAKING IT! But this time it's for the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad!

I know we're leaving AGS behind for this total re-make, but none the less I thought I'd come back and post about it here just in case any of you would care to "like" our facebook page and keep up with all the latest news about the new game! There'll be all kinds of silly promotional stuff to see soon.

Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Vegetable-Patch/202712266436207?sk=wall

Sure - Nothing much has happened on here yet, but give us a break! We only just started and it WAS the Royal Wedding over the weekend! But now's the BEST time to get us on your news feed - you can be one of our early fans who (if it takes off) can say things like "I was there before it was cool" ;P

Go on - give an old AGSer a thumbs up on a social network web-site! We'd absolutely love to tell you all about our game amongst your regular friend and family updates!

Hello. I am interested to know if it is possible to make AGS draw lines.

Ultimatly I'd like to build a function which I could call e.g.

DrawLine(28,24,56,93);

Where the numbers are the a ad y values of the start and then end of the line I want on screen.

A single pixel width line would be fine, but I don't really know where to begin!

Is this possible??!?!

I suppose not MANY people will have come acropper with this, but in vegetable patch extreem Turbo 1 & 2 (and now Vegetable Patch Extreem Tarrot) the limit of having numbers that only go up to 2,147,483,647 is jolly frustrating. It's not at all difficult for people to exceed this as a score in the vegetable patch games and as far as I can see there's no easy way of getting round it (the Patch Turbo games had a "MAXED OUT" feature that explained you'd scored a bigger number than the computer could think of, but it wasn't satisfactory at all).

I just wondered how difficult it would be to have a capacity for 64bit numbers available. I suppose I'd be the only person who'd apreciate it, so if it's a jolly complicated task, don't worry... It'd just be really really handy!  :=

General Discussion / GLASTONBURY WOO!
Mon 27/06/2005 22:14:25
I've just got back from the Glastonbury festival (sorry for the Anglo-centric thread btw, I kow we're a multi-cultural society on here) and it was BRILLIANT!!!

Was anyone else there? I can recommend to EVERYONE the amazing live-show of a man called Ceephax... Although how to get hold of his stuff is beyond my poor mental-powers, and besides the only MP3s he's posted on-line are poopenhime compared to the live show!

BEEP BEEP!

Does anyone know where you can download "Lazarus wants pants" as I cannot find it. :'(

General Discussion / 7 days a vailable?
Mon 11/04/2005 14:38:26
I downloaded 5 days ages ago, but when I come to get 7 days off of the underdogs, it keeps telling me there's an error. Does anyone else find this, or is my internet-security being too secure?

I know you can buy it off of Ben direct, and I may be able to grudgingly concede that the first game is one of the best made AGS games I've ever played (even though there's no explanation of how any of the bodies got under the floors) but I'm not coughing 5 dollers into Yahtzee's paw for the privalage of the "special edition"... Outtakes and an "Author's" commentar? why isn't there a "being sick" emoticon here?

General Discussion / Birthday Boy Hurray!
Wed 24/11/2004 14:50:49
hurrah! It's my birthday!
I got a Ludo board and a copy of "Freddie got fingered" and a tarpauline and a photo album and a CD wrack so far! AND some money! Woo hoo!

Saddly there are no AGSers in Derby who I can go and look at to celebrate, but Ã, if there WERE I'd go and celebrate at them.

Hurrah for being 22!

I never posted to update that I'd uploaded the final (bug free) version of VEGETABLE PATCH EXTREEM TURBO 2, so I'm using this as an excuse to start a new topic about it, and attempt to drum up some more interest!

If you weren't playing it because the last thread about it made out like it wasn't finished, then play it now! The graphics are AWSOME!!:

Not long ago, Andail popped the RON games on as the pick of the month, giving special mention to my game, the petulantly titled "Nihilism"

This was enormously flattering.

Then I looked at the RON site and ordered games by their ratings... Nihilism came last!

THIS made me to giggle!

Also, the disparity of opinion in the two on-line reviews of RL&BAT made me giggle a little (although I think AGA was a little snooty about it. Lighten up!)

I was once told as a child that if you can make something that people like or hate, then you've successfully made something interesting (and thus, in my measurement, good) and you've only failed to do anything worth while if people are un-moved.

As such, I feel a little bit proud to have opinion divided over my games...

I just wish people would divide their opinions over VPET, since I at least made a web-site for it! Sheesh!

Does anyone else ever read their own reviews? Does anyone else find they get bad reviews (or are people always too polite?)

We're two months behind on the pick of the month!
Has the output been too slow of late to get enough decent candidates?
Or have we just not had time to update!

Has snail quest been picked yet?

General Discussion / ARTIST NEEDED
Thu 15/07/2004 12:47:52
Hello, I realise this thread might be in the wrong place, but I guess the moderators will move it where it needs to be.

I'm working on a project that's very very close to my heart.

It's basically going to be an isometric adventure game with a stripped down inventory system, and some RPG elements dropped in for good measure. It will be a sequel to the text adventure game "The Golden Wombat Of Destiny" and will share many of the locations and themes from that game (easy to find on the internet - and fun to play if you want to have a go)

It is important to me that this game LOOKS good, and as such I need an artist!

I know it's demanding, but I'd really like just one person to take on all the backgrounds and characters, because I think that the smaller the team, the easier it is to get it to work.

There's no enormous rush on this project, and it'll probably take a while because I want it to be quite big, so a certain degree of faith and desire to work is envolved.

ALSO: the workload will obviously be biggest at the start of the project, in order to get player character animations and GUI art out of the way. I'm letting you know this just so that people aren't put off by there being LOADS to do at the start, because it won't be that way for the whole thing.

I've had good experiences of working with Squinky on Vegetable Patch Extreem Turbo 2, which I mention to assure you there's no need to worry that *I* might not have the dedication to carry it through.

The look is very much open to your enterpretation. I have some pics that Squinky knocked up before getting pregnant if you want a starting point, but as long as it's brooding and looks GOOD, I'm happy for the artist to make the look of the game just the way they want it.

Someone in the UK might be useful, as I had great difficulty explaining to U.S.A squinky what a chav/charver was. He kept thinking I meant someone who had some sort of street cred...

PLEASE help me!

look! I'm finally making use of the web space sylpher's been lending me for ages!

My mate Kevin has put together (under my watchful and guiding eyes) THIS amazing self-promotional web site for me:

There's even an on-line game with a prize!! How dedicated to my fans am I?!?!  :-X

General Discussion / WAAA HOOOZIE!
Mon 10/05/2004 12:27:23
I'd just like to celebrate Vegetable Patch Extreem Turbo 2 being downloaded 100 times!

I know it's sad of me to keep tabs on the stats, but I had a private wah-hoo when VPET 1 reached a century the other week, and I couldn't contain my joy over the sequel also getting into three figures.

Thankyou EVERYONE who's downloaded it...

Now if I could just find the time to learn front-page and make a sodding site for it...

Advanced Technical Forum / bloomin' strings!
Thu 04/03/2004 00:43:29
I've got two strings in variables (saddly they have to be in variables) and I want to swap them round.

I've been trying to use strCopy, but that doesn't seem to like having both strings represented with variables
i.e. it wants:
strCopy(juju,"pupu");
not
strCopy(juju,pupu);

Can anyone suggest ways to juggle strings in variables?

Thankyou!

P.S. I "RTFM"'d already, but couldn't see anything!

General Discussion / AGS banner
Tue 23/12/2003 12:53:06
I was just looking at the banner and wondering if it was time yet to re-do it. Bring it up to date, and give some OTHER games a little free advertising...

I guess it'd be a lot of work though...  :-\

Advanced Technical Forum / the time
Mon 22/12/2003 17:23:08
is it possible to pluck the time from a computer's clock in an AGS game? This would be nice from the perspective of making a game that reacted differently at different times of the day/week/month etc...

I'm trying to figure out how to legally distribute my game (on floppy disk) only I need to be able to effectivly zip it up and then have an "install" type program so that people don't have to use win-zip to open it up. Does anyone know how to do this without breaking copyright laws? Also: Could anyone do this for me (unless it's REALLY easy) as I can't really download any programs right now as I'm not even using my own computer (let alone a fast and effective one).

I think A Day In The Life by Mr Rodekill (I hope I got the title right) had such a thing, although I'm not sure...

Any help or advice would be greated with greating and possible cake (but not cake like on Corrination Street, wot the old people ate... I mean regular cake... I don't even WATCH Corrination Street, I just heard about it from my BF. Aparently it was funny)
