I'd just suggest that RPG's haven't STAYED popular on the market. They've pretty much only recently come back. There was a period where the Eye of the Beholder games represented the streangth of the RPG in the market, then there were YEARS when RPG's just dissappeared from the shelves, as no one was buying them. So perhaps it's just a case of being patient for Adventure Games to come back around?

ALSO RPG's can't be the way forward for adventure games, as RPG's were around before Adventure games (as we know them) came into being. RPG's were around before COMPUTERS as we know them came into being, so turning adventure games into RPG's would be a step back, away from a format that has presumably evolved so that a very specific story can be told in a specific way. Monkey Island 3 wouldn't have worked as an RPG, nor would Day Of The Tenticle. To move FORWARD the Adventure Game would have to think of different and better ways of telling an interactive story. They'd also have to start being more origional with what stories they told. No more "save the princess" bumph...

I'm not saying that turning to the RPG is going to produce BAD games, but I think it's important to remember that it wouldn't be a step FORWARD, and wouldn't it be nicer if people moved forwards, as that IS the only way for something origional to get made?

So it IS an advert... That's a shame... Mind you, I guess it was fairly blatent... I just thought it might have been being ironic and weird when it was showing off the car.... :=

This is totally brilliant, although is it just an advert for something?

BANG ON.

Or U571 to the real british soldiers who died so that we could break the enigma code during world war 2.

Only that's much MUCH more disrespectful, and sort of like the re-writing of history you might find in the book 1984.

Mind you, 1984 is a really dull book. It's kind of like Hamlet... Really boring, but very handy to be able to say you've read.

I REALLY wish I could laugh at that film. But it just makes me REALLY angry. I HATE it with its deeply un-sympathetic charcters who are presumably some hollywood film writer's idea of what computer users think is cool (pvc dungarees with roller blades?!?!?!) and it's general lack of understanding of ANY theme it touches on.
I quite like the fact that the plot pivots on the sinking of an oil liner, but features only half a second of stock footage of the liner going through a wave.

No expense spared eh?

I played vegetable patch extreem turbo loads... Not so much VPXT 2 because once I'd finished all the chapters, I was so exhausted I couldn't go back to it.
I don't play Ross Noble Arena much...

I'm a bit dissapointed no one else wants to see the monsoon. But it's an exciting picture of a mangrove beast! Is it some kind of giant snake with legs?
#109
Is warcraft 3 any good? 1 & 2 were always too repetative and slog-some for me, but the third LOOKS tempting...

I imagine it's something like Sacrefice, which is an unbelievably good game...

Yes, welcome! I hope you stay longer this time!

I would like to go to see the monsoon in north Australia... If Mittens could be timed to match this I'd come along! I may come along anyway, but I would REALLY love to see the monsoon. (I read about that it happened, and was almost as hooked as I am on the idea of visiting a mangrove swamp... do you get them in Australia as well? A Mangrove swamp in the monsoon, and I'd probably never leave!

Have you changed your name since last you posted, or have I simply missed you so much that I've blocked you out of my memory to cover the hurt?

I never understand why people say that music SHOULD be taken forwards. Why SHOULD music go in ANY particular direction?

Andail did a very VERY good job. Thankyou Andail!

I guess now AGA is the in-coming monthly picker, I can get used to NOT being pick of the month any more... Oh well. Twice should be enough for any man I suppose... And I'll have to finish some more games before it could be one of mine agian anyway.

"Deep in de hart of Afrika-ka-ka-ka...." ?!?! When did the chemical brothers ever say that? I remember "It began in Afrika-ka-ka-ka..." Is this connected?

never the less, it sounds like a mind-boglingly brilliant holiday!

I'd do a Richard Longhurst cake, except that the amount of e-numbers required for the colouring would be dangerous!

I thought that the sending-the-floating-crystal-to-fetch-the-lense-down-the-hole puzzle in The Dig was totally and utterly inspired. When you spotted what it was you were doing, it all seemed so obvious! EXACTLY how a puzzle should be done!

Awww man.

If it's CJ who's ultimatly responsible for this, no one'll EVER have the guts to chase it! We can't exactly tell him to get his arse in gear, as it would seem more than a little un-greatful...

I nominate Mr Fibble to put himself forward to CJ to be in charge of picking the pew pick of the month.

p.s. what's tankers game?
