why introduce a competing seriese, when we could simply set AGS community games in the RON setting? People's attentions are already spread out over loads of competing projects (I know at one point there was a slew of MAGS alike things going on, almost all of which have dissapeared, and MAGS isn't exactly as steady as once it was) and there's no real reason why we would NEED a second game seriese. Why not AGS-community RON games? It'd at least give people more options for jokes, if Mittens was held in RON, we'd be able to have all the hilarious jokes as the expence of mittens atendees, PLUS room for jokes within the nicely established setting...

Who knows, some Mittens characters might even get picked up as regulars in the seriese...

wouldn't that be slightly poitless, when instead, we could all make RON games?

I'm not sure how broadly this would get used, as sound files REALLY bulk out the size of a game... and there's probably more important things that could be implemented...

PLUS, you could probably do this with scripting, without TOO much trouble.

I only use the word "homo" because words like "gay", "bum-basher" and "feltch-boy" make me cringe slightly.

I just can't think of a nice word to mean feltch-boy, particularly since "gay" always makes people think of "Lorence Llewellin Bowen gay", not "wears-sensible-trousers gay". And I definatly wear sensible trousers.

I know LOADS about games, but if you tried to talk to me about "Radeon" and "GeForce" I'd glass over. I think you're a little harsh to judge these people!

I suspect they know pleanty about games, but very little about reviewing them, beyond reading the script.

It sounds lovely. I might even be convinced to turn up!!! (although naturally I'd be happyer if there was a more glove-related name...)

Jolly good idea.

General Discussion / Brush's with fame...
Fri 22/08/2003 15:27:21
Inspired by m0ds's threead about working near to a former TV voice-over type, I thought it was about time I started a thread:

Has anyone had any exciting brush's with fame? Anyone met anyone exciting?

for my part, I've been brave enough to seek autographs off of Neil Innis (who was in that Monty Python film! and lots of other stuff)

I've had similar encounters with:
Julian Barret and Noel Fielding (of The Boosh, which you may have seen on BBC 3 if you have it. I was at the filming of the pilot show!!! I'm so COOL!!!!)
and Ross Noble (who is going to become jolly famous soon, I'm pretty sure).

I've also ALMOST been brave enough to ask the rock-profile boys (Matt Lucas and David Walliems [spelled wrong no doubt]) for autographs!!!

irritatingly I've never EVER seen anyone famous in the streets or anything.

And Phil Reed does not count.

My brother-in-law met Ian Hislop in the sandwich queue. Aparently he's nice (although anyone who voluntarily eats sandwiches, let alone PAY for them, is a little on the questionable side)...

I remember it...

what do you mean you work NEXT to the guy that presented it? Do you clean urinals, only he does the left ones and you do the right ones?

I'm afraid I was always somewhat dubious about the shows reliability for promoting quality. I got the impression they just hoiked their opinions directly out of magazines, without really making much effort. But then I'm a cynic. Sorry.

I'm not fussed for lense flare.

Hell, I'd settle for paralax scrolling...

Yeah, but that happens in so many fantasy novels. It's prolly just coincidence.

Y'know, I remember thinking about wether American Psyco was based around Dorien Gray when I was reading it, but then I forgot about it untill organes just reminded me. He's so clever!

WOO WOO I'm only 33% gay (and as a homo, I'm allowed to be happy about that without being homophobic ha ha)

Irritatingly I had to say yes to the "do you ever worry that you masturbate too much" question, even though when I DO think it momentarily, I always then conclude "don't be daft".

gah! stupid two-answer multiple choice questions!

I too have never owned leather troose.

I'd like to read a review of Dada: Stagnation in Blue written by someone outside of the community. As far as I can see, the whole point is that it's ambiguous on a lot of levels, so it should make for an interesting one to present to an outsider.

I'd also like to see an article espousing the importance of a balance between planning and producing.

I think another interesting thing to do would be interview industry people from outside of the Adventure Game genre, and probe them on what they think of the genre, and how they would make it better (keeping in mind that it shouldn't lose it's essential adventure-game-ness). This would simply be and excuse for me to read a Jeff Minter interview, because he's utterly incredible, and probably not pro-adventure-game at all, although I'd be fascinated to read about how he would aproach the genre. Probably a difficult man to talk to though.

As for previews, I think that I'd prefur a more speculative article. Since we all know how games pop in and out of existence (often before they're even begun) specific studies of games might be a bad idea. Although some kind of predictive examination of current trends and where they might lead would be fun to mull over. Sort of like a society column, but leaving out all the boring bits about human interaction...

wow! a shake screen command! I never knew there was one of these at all! Let alone a fancy one that I'm not going to use!
