I was thinking more of specifically a novel / novella based on a game, but graphic novels etc are cool too :)

Has anyone ever written a novel/la of their pointandclick?  Or had one written?  Or ever seen one?

I ask because I'm writing one now for one of my own games, and it occurred to me that I don't remember ever seeing such a thing - but years ago I remember often getting a novella with a computer game, for instance Starglider 2 and Elite 2: Frontier both had books with them (though in the case of Frontier it was several short stories rather than one novella).  I seem to remember other games doing similar, but can't remember specific examples.

Thanks for these!  I'm not a great fan of his game, the humour isn't much to my taste, but I really enjoyed Torin's Passage (wish he'd made more games like that) and will definitely take a look through that.

Yay!  The game is fully released!  Congrats to Andrea and Mark! ;-D

Boo!  My savegame files from the press preview build don't work now. :P  I can however confirm that it was worth the wait. (nod)

Interested to know if the intricate lighting will affect the character sprites the walk in the area by the windows though.
As I am not the programmer on the project, I cannot say. But the lightshafts coming from the window, are painted on a seperate transparent layer, so I reckon it should be possible :)

If it could be made to work, that would look pretty awesome.  Anyway terrific work on that background!

Very interesting question Jack!  I'm not really sure, but I think for me it might have been A Beautiful Mind - not the first time I saw it, but the second.  It was amazing, actually like watching a completely different film (whereas in truth I saw it in the cinema twice, a couple of weeks apart).

When I started reviewing movies quite a bit (ended up with over 500 on them on Epinions) I started noticing / appreciating other aspects of movies that generally had passed me by, too.  But since our oldest daughter was born I've watched hardly films that aren't animated!!  (Fortunately I love animated movies so it's not too bad. ;))

To me, it is a thing of beauty. (nod)  Interested to know if the intricate lighting will affect the character sprites the walk in the area by the windows though.

I can't get my head around the perspective of that screenshot, but somehow it does look vaguely familiar.  Not entirely sure what genre it is, maybe something like And Then There Were None?

Your favourite incompetent buffoon of a space hero Captain Disaster didn't start off as a computer game character - the original short stories that inspired the games (currently The Dark Side of the Moon and soon to be Death Has a Million Stomping Boots, and in hopefully not too many years to come There's a Hole in my Galaxy) is now available for Amazon Kindle, priced at $2.99.  To make Danvzare happy I'm not going to be offering this free anytime!

It's comedy sci-fi, very silly and referencing many sci-fi books / movies / TV series, not so much breaking the 4th wall as ignoring the fact that it exists, etc.  It's not for the serious (or sound) of mind.

1 copy sold yesterday and it was tremendously exciting, but obviously it would be nice to sell a few thousand more! ;)

If you consider porting the game to mobile devices, you can't have a two button UI, though...

AFAIK there are two realistic ways to emulate a 2-click interface on handheld devices - click / click and hold, or click / double click.  (I have no idea how well they actually work.)  For a game whose team I'm on we looked at a few different ideas and I have to admit that we've opted for a sort of hybrid one-click system for portability though.

I agree with Radiant.  Also disagree with your artist - it's all about how you design the game.  Verb coins are immensely frustrating to use.

Offering your book free, to quite possibly the only people who will ever know of it's existence?
Sounds like a great idea! :-D

Sadly true, though you never know! :P

I *ahem* bought it. Now the only question remains, will I ever read it?
I've got quite a build up of books to read already you see.
If I do read it though, I will leave a review.

Thank you for your *ahem* purchase.  If it helps any, this is a shorter read than your average novel, so it won't take you long.  (Of course you will be enthralled by the amazing writing and want to read it again and again and again, but...  you know, first time round will be quick.)

Thanks for the compliments! I honestly have considered every single option out there! My only problems with ags were the complexities of the cross platform building. I am not aware of any other pnc games made with corona. I have created the system with the idea that one day, when it's finished, i will 'open source' it so everyone can use it.

Really interested to see what you come up with - all the best with development!

Looks good!

Out of interest, did you consider AGS?  Have any other point and click games been made with Corona SDK?
