Didn't this guy appear in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean?

You might also want to consider IndieGameStand, Little Indie, IndieVania, MyGameIQ, IndieCity.

I can't vouch for any of them, although I believe IndieVania in particular gives indie publishers a very good deal  I haven't had any dealings with these beyond posting their PR information in the past.

Does anyone have any particular 'favourite' places to buy downloadable games? I want to make sure we're getting in touch with everywhere we can.

I'm happy with any of the following:  Steam, Desura, Beamdog, Stardock, plus of course WEG and Screen7!

Just a note for your future kidnapping attempts: announcing publicly your plans to do it usually won't result in success.  You want to be sneaky, man.

Ah man, foiled again!

Dave Gil - if you're reading this, forget all about it.  There will be no kidnap attempt at Adventure-X.  These are not the droids you are looking for.

Just a suggestion...

Kidnap Dave Gil and don't release him until he's signed a binding contract to create and release Purity of the Surf 2 in 2013.

Who's with me?  8-)

Based on that hint alone (I take it "Hard to imagine the lead actor as he was then when you look at him now." was the hint), I'm going to guess at a film I've never seen and never intend to see - Home Alone?

Barney's wife is too disturbing - I don't think I want to play this game now!  8-0 :-D

Stair Runner?

Ah well, maybe it won't work so well then... it certainly wasn't a bad idea though   ;-D, just that their rules are a bit too strict!

I did email Andrew at Brawsome Games about this just in case we could do some sort of tie-in (I presume he'll be there), but with the one booth, one developer rule that probably wouldn't work either.  :-\

Looks interesting!  Will give it a go tonight.

Edit...

Played it.  Fun little game, I like the scoring system - first time I got 9/10, second time 5000,5000!!

It's given my nightmares about when my daughter grows up though...  8-0

However, the problem with such pop culture references is that they don't age well. The Macarena anyone?

I guess I must be old and hopelessly not-with-it.  I remember the Macarena... I have no idea what "Gangnam" is!!

Adventure Lantern is always a good read.  I didn't know they were planning Beneath a Steel Sky 2 until I saw it in AL!!  8-)

I'd appreciate it if you can both come dressed as your avatars so that I can recognise you.

Congrats on the release - I enjoyed testing this game (even if I didn't quite have enough time to do as much testing as I'd promised - sorry!  :-[).

That's not really a particularly easy question to answer, but I think I'd have to say the key to it would be that you can actually forgetting that it's voice acting, and just feel like the characters are naturally talking.  I think TellTale's Sam and Max games in particular are terrific examples of this - once I've seen the characters and heard the voices, I just can't imagine any other voice for those characters.

When voice acting goes wrong, it's usually a case of poor translation or poor emphasis.  In some games it actually sounds like someone is reading awkwardly from a prompt sheet without any real understand of either the words used or the way the character who's talking feels.  To me the Secret Files games (at least the English versions) were particularly noticeable examples of bad voice acting.

I don't know whether that's partly answered your question - probably not really, but it's the best I could come up with!

Will there be a series of irrational inventory-based puzzles to solve in order to be able to enter the exhibition?

That would be awesome. But I have to ask : Discworld kind of irrational, Broken Sword kind of irrational or King's Quest kind of irrational inventory-based puzzles?

A combination of all three, with a bit of Ocean Spirit Dennis thrown in!!  (laugh)

SEARCH pile of leaves - find ancient amulet
STEAL breadcrumbs from small child
USE breadcrumbs to attract pigeon
USE ipod on pigeon to frighten it
USE frightened pigeon on ancient amulet
TALK TO ancient amulet
Receive wisdom of the ancients
USE wisdom of the ancients on tree
tree becomes ent
TALK TO ent
PICK UP paperclip
USE paperclip to unlock gardener's shed
PICK UP shovel
USE shovel on lake in Hyde Park to create channel diverting water to ent
ent will now distract guard for you
PICK UP kipper from residual waters of channel
SLAP Ocean Spirit Dennis with kipper
ENTER ADVENTURE-X

Quick update - work is steadily progressing on the game, and now that Adventure-X has been confirmed I can tell you that I will be presenting about the game there (or if for any reason I'm unable to be there, M0Ds will do it).  We hope to have a new playable build for you to try at Adventure-X too, but I can't confirm that at the moment.  Even if there isn't a new build on display, be assured that we are making progress!

I will also be doing a short presentation on the other Captain Disaster game (announced on the dev blog but not on the AGS forums yet), Troll Song and The Journey of Iesir.
