Hey KB!

Firstly, sorry I never gave you more feedback on your design doc - I was a little preoccupied with getting the Captain Disaster demo out.

Secondly... this looks awesome! Love the title, too  :-D

Since the game is not an RPG and more of an adventure game it really feels fun to make something different while using the same theme.

Fancy using Adventure Game Studio to make an adventure game - what a radical concept!  :-D ;-D :P

Hope development goes well.

Thanks Khris!  When you complete it can you let me know how long it took you?

So far (from my excessively obsessive scouring of the net for anything relating to the demo release) feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.  I'm not sure which emotion I'm feeling most about that, happiness or sheer relief!!

Thanks, but I'd really rather have your thoughts on the demo!!

Recruitment / [HELP FOUND]

POSITION NOW FILLED, please lock this thread.  Thanks.

"Searching for Sam and Max" is a freeware game in development - it's not strictly speaking a S&M game, but rather a homage to the dynamic duo - who are missing and need to be rescued by Richie, the player character.  Richie has taken up the Freelance Police mantle since they went missing, but now the Commissioner is in trouble and has issued Richie his most challenging assignment - FIND SAM AND MAX!

We (FrankT, Geork and myself) are looking for a background artist who can produce 320x200 resolution backgrounds in a similar style to the original "Sam and Max Hit the Road" game - anything along similar lines will work for us.  If you think you can help (sorry this is an unpaid position as the game will be freeware) please PM me citing examples of your work.

The demo version of Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots has now gone live:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/Games.aspx/Detail/1598

There will be the odd change in this part of the game in the final full game release, but this gives you a good idea of what the full game is like.  We hope you enjoy it!

I'm particularly interested to see how long people take to complete it.  I don't think it's particularly difficult but it should provide a decent amount of playing time - I have a time period in mind that I was aiming for and that I hope we've reached or exceeded for most people; I'd be grateful if some of you could post your completion time to see if my estimate was accurate or not.

I also knew right away that the items I mentioned were a reference to the brothers' likes and dislikes. But when I first started singing, I didn't even click them, because I thought they'd be needed later -- and clicked the brothers and other people instead. But it's like with, say, the rhyming sword fights in Monkey Island (at least the 3rd one had them, can't remember the earlier ones) - you just have to try stuff a bunch of times.
On a side note - gotta love how much thought and creativity went into this!

I absolutely agree - loved this puzzle once I figured it out (which, unusually for me, was quite quickly!  :-D  Many puzzles in SoMI I worked out by accident though.  It was a great moment when I finally worked out how to defeat the Sword Master!

Also, sorry if it appeared that I was belittling your puzzle-solving abilities - that really was not my intention!  :-[

Fitz - there is a definite logic, you just have to

.  (Well yeah, that sounds a whole lot easier than it is in practice, but it's definitely logical not random.)

I think the timing is a little fiddly on that puzzle.  Glad you've got past it! :D

If you can make the hacker more popular, he will calm down a bit...  without wanting to say too much, try playing around with the jukebox a bit and see what happens...

If you time it well enough, wait until pex throws the extra knife strike, then you can actually hit him with your cane

I think this stumped me for a bit until I told them that I was on a Pirate Ship... things then rolled on logically with information you could easily find on the readouts.
