For the sake of this thread, I think you should be called a Grammar KGB Agent instead of Grammar Nazi.

How is a fridge ever "random"?
I cannot get over that one!

Either I've missed something or you need to check those eyes Tomi - it's "RUNDOWN" not RANDOM - admittedly I thought it should be 2 words no 1, but according to spellcheck you can do it either way.

Demo release getting closer! We've added tons of content compared to my original idea for the demo, so I hope everyone will think it was worth the wait.  ;-D  (The talking pizza alone should make it worth the wait...)

Keep up to date on the Dev Blog.

So THIS is what all those lovely background graphics have been for!  ;-D

I'm interested to see how you develop the plot.  Bonus point for the spelling of "daemons"!1  (laugh)

That is genuinely one of the most terrifying thoughts I've read for a long time, mainly because it's impossible to think there isn't quite a bit of truth in it.

However thinking back to my own youth and attitudes then, while I'd be inclined to agree with you about not being particularly willing to show it so publicly, I think you also need to consider that we really didn't have as much opportunity.  Anyone with an internet connection can throw their creations at the world these days, back when I (we?) were kids it was such a new thing and far fewer people had easy access to it.  I also shudder to remember my own first offerings with AGS way back when we were using EZ Boards - I was proud of it even though it was admittedly terrible, not so much because of what I thought it was but what I thought it could be (this is before I concluded that I would never be a decent coder!).  The weird thing was that I remember a couple of people emailing me to tell me they really enjoyed it!  (That probably stopped me from realising for a while how abjectly terrible it was.)

Perhaps also a factor is the fact that "reality" and "talent" shows have distorted people's perception of what is actually reality and talent?

Actually that's a pretty interesting idea.

Looks!  Are you going to be running a parallel semi-legal Kickstarter campaign?

It depends. Is that easily programmable?

Eek!  You're asking me a programming question?!?!

It should just be a case of having another image - like an outline of what's there or the same image differently coloured - to temporarily show up at the xy position when the mouse cursor is over that item.  Don't ask me how to do it though!!

Nice.  Will the icons also be highlighted in some way when the mouse cursor is over them?

Ah nuts I was so close to working this out, but I never once tried missing out the top row completely!  Just did the alternate easier puzzle instead.  :-[

IndieGameMag did a feature on us, which was nice - http://www.indiegamemag.com/zero-to-hero-captain-disaster-gunning-for-2012-release/

We've also been featured on No Signal Input, GnomesLair and Jonathon Wisnoski's blog

AdventureGamers and GameZone have both promised to mention us soon.

EDIT - GameZone Feature posted

are we going to get to wear that mop head as a wig?

Not quite - but you've very close!

Oh right! I do actually have the stories in a paperback collection (along with some other stories), it's on Amazon but no-one buys it anyway.  Getting your books into print is one thing, getting them into high street shops is quite another (at least, that's how I see if from my own experience).  :=

Although come to think of it, so far I think the only thing anyone calls his is "Captain"... if I could maintain that throughout I guess it might just work!  8-)

Thanks both for replying!

kconan - very good point, hopefully the demo which will be out soon and the frequent updates on the forums here, the dev blog and several other places will help to convince people that we really will get this game released.

NickyNice - that's a really cool idea actually, though I'm not quite sure how well it would work with there being probably a lot of lines that will also need to be re-voiced.  Certainly something I'll keep in mind though! :)

I don't remember exactly, but doesn't his email asking about the password also contain information about how the username is set up - first 3 characters of surname and first name or something?  If you use the computer, put that username in and then put the password cracker in the USB port you can get into his email account.

Apologies if I'm not quite answering your question, I think that's where you are in the game!)[/hint]

Read the emails, but I can't find the relevant info in them.

I hope I'm remembering this right...

Spoiler
You should be able to work out from one of the emails how the User Names are set up.  Do you have anything in your inventory that could help you get the passwords?

Further hint if you need it:

Something that plugs into a port on the computer...

This is a general question, although if we decide to do a fundraiser for the Captain Disaster game then obviously we'll try to take any points brought up here into account.

I think it's a given that the majority of people who back a game financially on Kickstarter, IndieGoGo et all use it effectively as a pre-order system.  Which is great, but what other things do you like to see as options in a fundraiser - access to beta versions?  The possibly of your name as an Executive Producer of the game? the chance to be involved in the game design process - even if it's in a very small way, such as naming a character that appears in the game?  Those are all things I've seen, along with other things like meeting the game creators, game-related merchandising etc, but I wonder if there's anything that particularly attracts you to a project, or something that you'd love to see offered but never have.

This looks great.  Love the art style and animation, and the storyline sounds fun.  All the best with development!

A shadow under them should help make them look apart from the grill.

Or a black outline round them.
