Thanks guys, your encouragement is really appreciated (by all of Team Disaster, not just me).

Hmm... maybe we could enter the Olympics under the banner Team Disaster?!  (wrong)

Hm... you think a grate effect would help?

Might do - try it and see what it looks like.

Hm? The main icons don't stand out enough? How so?

I just think the contrast could be better - darker colours for the icons on the light colour of the interface background.

When you compare the first image with the second hopefully you'll be able to see what I mean - against the dark green those icons really stand out, but against the grey they don't so much.  It's really only the hand icons that look a little wrong to me, the eye and mouth are a bit darker and so do stand out.  The hand icons merge into the background a little.

If the icons themselves were a bit darker or even if you added a black outline around the hand icons, to me I think it would look better.  I also like the graduated fill in the top version more than the plain colour of the second - but again, just my opinion.

In that case, as you've obviously thought about all this and have a plan, I simply look forward to the game - I've yearned for a proper Zak remake for years... all the best with the project, and I'm sorry that I can't help from an artistic point of view.  If you need help with writing, puzzle design or voice acting later on I would be happy to help of course.

I'm afraid I'm no artist, but being a long-time Zak fan I would of course love to see this project come to life.  You mention you have spoken to David Fox about this - does that mean you've already been granted permission to go ahead by the copyright holders?  I seem to remember another Zak game (I think it was Zak 2 by Lucasfan but my memory's a bit iffy) being closed down.  Since LucasArts have already released a Special Edition of MI1 & 2, it's not outside the realms of possibility that they would be looking to do other games such as Loom and Zak too  (apologies if they've already announced something, I haven't been keeping up).

Anyway, assuming you are able to go ahead with this project, I'm sure you'll have a huge ready-made fan base for it, and there are plenty of talented artists on the AGS forums who may want to help.  I'm just worried for you that if you don't get copyright issues etc sorted out beforehand that you and others could put a lot of work into this only to end up not being able to release it, which would be a massive shame for several reasons.

Congrats on the release Vince!

Hopefully I should be able to get my review done soon, I'm a reasonable way into the game.  The little vignettes at the start did a great job of setting the mood and introducing the characters btw.

Whoever designed the wiring puzzle needs to be shot, however.  In the end I had to take the easy option to get into the lab!  :-[

Great news!  Looking forward to seeing it fully baked  ;-D

"Team Disaster"?!?!  Well I suppose it's appropriate...

Guys, thanks for your kind comments and I'm really glad a few people are looking forward to the game.  Just to let you know what's happening at the moment, right now we're finishing off the playable demo - implementing the puzzles first, then updating the dialogues, descriptions etc, and finally adding all the voice acting.  In 2-3 weeks we should have a fully complete playable demo for you.

In the meantime we're also working on assets to be used in other parts of the game - backgrounds, music tracks, puzzle and story design etc.

Well personally I like it, it's an attractive and clear layout, you win in terms or aesthetics and functionality.

My only real concern is the choice of colours - I think the main icons don't look right / stand out enough.  If you're going for a light grey background they need to be darker, stronger colours (to me).

Incidentally I love the savegame icon, very stylish!

lulu.com?

Don't ask me, I didn't name the site!  ???

Adder - really cool concept sketches you've got there!  Can't wait to see what you turn them into for the game.

I'm no artist either, but I have to say this is starting to look very, very good indeed.

Keynote presentation from Icey?

Only if it's a complete annotated history of Oceanspirit Dennis and his roots in Norse mythology.  That should take several hours.

I'd rather have jumper cables attached to my nipples instead.  :=

What, AGAIN?!  That really didn't end so well for you last time.  8-0

Given the game it's for, perhaps you should try to make it look like the hood of a Desoto?
Cracking idea! ...how?

Would using these as a reference help?

Would buy one out of curiousity if it was physical, and in a shop nearby...

Aw man, and they told me that digital publication was the future... (wrong)

There is a paperback version with the same stories, but looking back it's not edited as well.  Amazon yes, local book store near you... never I'm afraid.

Oh cool it's a dancing mini-game!

Uh... sorry, I was looking at it wrong...  ;-D

What you've shown so far looks cool Rocco - nice to see someone trying to make a different type of game too.  Don't recall too many stealth games made with AGS!
