Nothing much to tell right now other than that we're still working hard getting the pitch demo finished and making sure everything's as perfect as it can be.

Thanks all for your feedback, it's really helpful.

And the game is out! Has anyone else played it yet?

Yep... not thirlled with the interface to be completely honest, but the puzzles, characters, humour are all spot on, the visuals are lovely and the music is great.

Congrats on the release!  VERY impressive screenshots!  8-)

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Narrator voice
Thu 17/05/2012 12:37:31
Just getting opinion as it will influence what we decide to do on a project at the moment...

If in a game the characters' speech is all voiced, do you generally prefer EVERYTHING to be voices - object interactions, looking at objects etc?

The two main ways of doing this are having a narrator (a la King's Quest) or having the player character describe everything in the first-person.  Personally I would tend to prefer the latter, although a large part of that is because I really disliked the narrator voice in The Silver Lining games.

Also, would you think it was actually odd for the characters to talk, but for you to be expected to read descriptions etc?

Ghost is not a ghost but is, in actual fact, a giant sentient meat feast pizza.

It's a little play on characters from a classic adventure game you all know and love (I hope that's not against the rules).
I couldn't make out every word but I know I heard "Mediocre, Mansion of Mental, Menial, Mindless, Mutated Midget Moles!" hahaaa good stuff

If I'd done more of a Brian Blessed impersonation my Guitar Hero microphone definitely couldn't have handled it...  >:(  At first I was going to use "p" for my repeated alliteration, but that just produced tons of feedback hiss.

The text for you and anyone else who's interested:

"Don't dawdle, Flash, we've found the maddeningly mediocre mighty mansion of Ming the Merciless and his merry mental menial mindlessly masochistic mutated midget moles!"

I must admit that I nearly lost the flow at "merry mental"...  (laugh)

I thoguht you grew into the voice, didn't sound much like him at the start (to me) but towards the end you got the accent and inflections spot on.  (Pretty sure it would be better than my Connery anyway!  :-D (roll))

You absolutely nailed Guybrush's voice Rob, fantastic work!

I know the mic quality isn't great, but I was just having a bit of fun...  8-)

My 17 month-old had a screaming fit last night between 2am and 4am, now I feel like the walking dead... still haven't played the game yet, and ProgZmax's description of it being similar to Jurassic Park has really made me unenthusiastic about it.

Tabata is actually a highly intelligent genetically modified mouse who is bent on TAKING OVER THE WORLD, one adventure game related forum at a time.

Weird Science?  I remember some strange biker dudes turning up in the living room in one scene of that, not sure about viking warriors...

I'm looking for someone who can sound reasonably like Orac from Blake's 7 - not an exact imitation, just matching the snidy and generally unhelpful attitude.  It's to voice an on-board computer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoHkaFDTiD8&feature=relmfu - 0:54-1:00 as an example of the type of voice.  The character will appear in theoretically 11 or more episodes.

Please PM me if you're interested.

**I've had a couple of people contact me so the position here is filled, but if you want to be considered for another character in the future feel free to contact me anyway **

I've got two Steam keys for the PC version of this to give away - first two people to PM me get them.  Even better if you could send me a short write-up of your thoughts about the game afterwards.

**BOTH NOW GONE**

Nice work.  I too thought the Zool backgrounds were a little overpowering!!

I'm intrigued by this game... is it the world's first point and click platformer?

Although he still denies, Captain D is also a 24/7 superhero, known by some (like me) by the name... Captain Duck!

Arj0n you fool!  I'm spitting feathers here (literally) - you told me that my secret identity was safe with you!  Do you have any idea what a setback to avian crime-fighting this is?!?

On another note, Eric's real name is Mamma Benson-Whitfield.
