Wow!  VERY nice screenshots!

I'm constantly amazed at the sheer amount of talent there is in the AGS community.  Some amazing pics here already!

Hey, I missed this one among all the Gemini Rue excitement!  ::)

This looks like something my little girl might enjoy when she's a bit older.  I like the graphics, perfect for younger adventure gamers.

I interviewed Katie Hallahan of Phoenix Online Studios about The Silver Lining, why they chose the Torque game development tool, and their plans for the future...   I  thought she gave some really interesting answers, hope anyone who reads it will likewise enjoy reading them.

Here's the interview:

I am legend.  Apparently.

You'd better believe it.

Everyone, lobby Dave to make a sequel to Purity of the Surf!!!  ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D  (Okay, that's only second on my wish list... a Special Edition of Zak MacKraken and the Alien Mindbenders, with Tim Allen voicing Zak, is still top!  :o)

Er... sorry... I'll shut up now.

To get back on topic... only two days to the official release date for Gemini Rue!  Dunno if anything significant will have changed from the press build I've played, but if you like sci-fi adventure games, you're gonna have a blast.

Hmm... my interview with Josh had no input from Dave, but I did call him Legendary  ;D

Maybe it's just me but I'm actually looking forward to the action elements. I've thought for ages that adventure games would be much more enjoyable with a few action type situation.

I liked the action elements in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back); they weren't perfect but they provided a nice change of pace.  Gemini Rue looks like it'll be one hell of a game...

This is going to be one great-looking game!  ;D

You guys are taunting us, not fair :D.

We prefer to call it "Building Anticipation".  ;D ;D

I don't know if there are any good soundtracker programs around these days - they might help you get the sound you're after.

I await with interest your innovative dialogue system...

Don't get too excited.. it's not *that* innovative.

Okay, I'll only await it with mild to moderate interest.  :=

Just to add my vote to the episode1+2 idea - with the extra / updated features it should certainly be enough to make fans of the game buy it.  Certainly more people would buy that than simply an enhanced episode one (though I think there are definitely a number of people who would buy that).  If you could bring the storyline to a logical end in your first game, but with an obvious launching point for game 2 (originally your episodes 3+4), that would be the best option IMHO.

Very moody graphics!  ;D

I await with interest your innovative dialogue system...

Hmm... I feel that I may be wasting quite a few hours of my life on this game when you've finished... for some reason I've always had a weakness for this style of RPG!  ;D

- We hate pixel hunts ourselves  ;D
- Hint system is being developed
- The logic will (hopefully?!?!) make sense to everyone.  We're working hard on making everything make sense - well, at least to us it all makes sense...
- We're trying to make something that will appeal to hardcore adventure gamers as well as more casual gamers - but yeah, it's a tricky balancing act.  :=

looks handsome, remember to avoid pixel hunts like the plauge, consider implementing a highlight system(see: Monkey Island 2: Special Edition or Runaway: Twist of Fate, the thing to remember here is while MI2 doesn't need a highlight feature Runaway 3 does.) and overly messed up logic, best of luck to you. Also, remember, hardcore adventure games are the thing of the past, the core game can be hard, but make sure to place an in game hint system or what Kaptain Brawe did with the core and casual difficulty levels, walkthroughs spoil games, and you really don't want that.

More manly chain saw-puzzles?

Rats, I don't think we have ANY manly chain saw puzzles in the game yet...

This looks realy interesting, kinda like Curse of Monkey Island, but softer.

I'm interested to know whether you're talking about just the graphics or the game in general?

I'd say it'll be CoMI but more satirical  ;D

Of course now we need to have a baby girl in the game so "CaptainE" (actually her name is Phoebe  ;D) can provide the sound effects.  8)

An enormous amount of work is going into this game which is why it's not going to be finished anytime soon, but it'll definitely be worth it.  If anyone would like to back us financially so we can give up our day jobs and work on it full time, things would go a lot quicker...  ::)
