Glad to hear MI2 is better, that's the next game on my To Play list!  ;D

Forgot to mention the UI, which I thought was pretty awful at times... I did revert ot the classic mode for some puzzles simply to use the old UI.  ::)

I didn't mean they should change any of the puzzles btw, just maybe add a few new ones in.

AGS Games in Production / Re: Arden's Vale

Looking nice... I'm especially looking forward to the "quite nearly logical puzzles"!!  8)

I just wondered if anyone else felt like I do that the Special Edition of SoMI was a bit of a missed opportunity.  The game itself is still fantastic of course, and the music / voice acting is great, the backgrounds are nicely painted etc... but there's no new content (surely a couple of extra puzzles could have found their way in there?) and the animation is disappointing (presumably they exactly matched the animation frames used in the original?).  I can't help but feel this could have been an amazing restoration of a classic game with a bit more effort.

Also, did it surprose anyone else, looking back, just how sparse many of the locations were?  Quite a few had only one or two hotspots.  I'd really criticise an adventure game for that nowadays!

On the plus side, the sequence of Guybrush robbing the Governor's mansion still made me laugh out loud.  ;D

Must have missed it - I seemed to be wandering aimlessly for quite a while!  Will try another direction...

Something to do in the various screens would be good though.  ;D

Pinhead Games have some good ones too.  I think they used Macromedia Fusion (?).

I can thoroughly recommend the SLUDGE games already mentioned - Out of Order is spectacularly good and Peas of Kejick is a lot of fun.  Deirdre Kiai's games Cubert Badbone PI and The Game That Takes Place on a Cruise Ship are also very good.

Congrats on making your first game!  ;D

Will take a look at this later.  I like the graphical style you've used.

After the first battle, the only things I could do were interract with the player character or houses (neither of which achieved anything), or move from one location to another.  I'm sure there must be something else to do in this game?!  Just haven't found it yet.

That mining boss sure looks guilty about something!  ;D

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, I found the Rob Blanc games.  Then I found AGS.

Not all that subtle, no, but definitely helpful!  ;D  Thanks.

Hmm... I'm in the lab, can't seem to do anything though.  Can you give me a subtle pointer in the right direction?

Uber-kewl!  ;D

Looking forward to seeing what you do with your dystopian future next...

Hmm... nice game idea, however as you say, in its current form it's a bit boring.

What I think could improve it:

1 - Make it a top-down view with carnivors and herbivors coming at you from all directions
2 - Add some power ups / power downs - something you can eat that will have a positive / negative affect.  Perhaps if you eat meat it stops you from being able to turn into a tree for a few seconds, vice versa if you eat a leaf
3 - Maybe add a level system - last 60 seconds and go on to the next, more challenging level

Hope these suggestions help!

Critics' Lounge / Re: Gunnery Deck

Looks good overall, but I'm not sure about the thick brown lines around the backs of those machines.  Perhaps a little bit sparse, but as it's a gunnery deck I don't suppose picture frames are appropriate!  ;D

That's very nice to hear. More so than if you just said that the game was emotional overall.

That section of the game took my completely by surprise, and really stayed with me.  I think it totally redefined the player's perception of Jack's character.  (At least, it had that effect on me.)

As so many others have said, Marionette was of course great.

However I found the flashback scene in Snakes of Avalon pretty disturbing (in a good way... I think?!), that counts as one of the most emotional scenes in any AGS game I've played.

Also, some scenes in Prodigal were pretty powerful...

(Prodigal is an old game - released back in 2005 - so I've put the db link below in case anyone wants to check it out who's a bit newer to the AGS scene.  I'm hoping the sequel will one day be released... it's been in the works for quite some time now!)

Looks great!  Love the graphical style, prefer games where you can't die, and am intrigued by "Advanced GRUNTS technology"!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hints & Tips / Re: Lightning Master
Tue 14/12/2010 15:42:58
I'm trying to think what point you might have got to, the only thing that comes to mind is, in the park have you tried getting in through a window?  (Near the time machine thingy)

I have read the hints and still can't figure out what to do now.
I have no keys, reached Andove Island, placed the rod on Castle Rock and dropped two spheres in the sculpture.  Oh yes, one time transport to '68.

I think I have searched all the locations accessible to me at this point and found nothing to interact with - except locked doors and codes.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks~
