I've gotten into the park and had a little wander around, looks good so far!  I'll get back to you when I get further :)

Thanks, that question was just based on something I was told in a PM and I has a sudden horrible moment of thinking no-one realised it was more than 3 screens of playable demo!   :o

Can I just check, some peole have managed to get inside the park, right?  The games got about 12 playable screens right now.  Getting into the park was just an introductory part of the game...

Very nice graphics!

I haven't read the book - is the Coca-Cola reference from that or of your own devising?!?

I'm not really sure about the head close ups when the characters spoke, but I can see why you included that.

I look forward to the game when it gets releases - sounds weird and wonderful!

Hey you can never have too many RON games!! There hasn't been a new one in quite some time so I'm super excited about this!!! I'm a HUGE fan on RON and I've played all the previous games ;D.

True, you never can have too many RON games... I've nearly played all of them myself!

I hope you enjoyed this one so far... it's got a long way to go, but hopefully this demo gives an idea of what it will become (though admittedly I've been very cagey as to the main plot...)

I am also horrible with graphics, but the one tip I can give you is that you don't leave empty white spaces like you did in the picture before the gate.

I definately can't help you since I am already myself overburdened with a too ambitious RON project!

But, still, I wish you much luck!! :)

Thanks Ozzie, and thanks for the tip too.  One thing I tried to do with this game was have screens different sizes, some bordered by black an some where the player character is very small due to the size of the environment, but I realise a lot of the graphics look really bad.

All the best with your own RON project, I look forward to seeing it (someday - probably before mine gets finished whenever it is...)

Another Dave in relation to RoN? Don't we have enough already?  :=

There's always room for another Dave!!  ;D

I wanted to do a RON game to start with to give something back to teh RON community as I've enjoyed many of the games set in Reality...  want to do a sci-fi adventure game at some point later on, but I'll definitely need a good programmer and graphics artist for that one!

Latest Demo Version: http://www.games.darscom.net/LODD1.2.zip

Game's website: http://www.games.darscom.net/live_of_death.html

Version 1.2 features:

- some redesigned locations
- a few new puzzles and some extra random stuff like a statue of a 2-headed squirrel
- several bug fixes

Storyline

Without going into too much detail, this game puts you in the role of Death, who has been having trouble sleeping (yes, Death sleeps - bet you never knew that...)  An odd character materialises and suggests that he can help, firstly by Death performing a number of good deeds... which is where the game stars.  This is Act I, most of the locations and some of the puzzles are in place.  I've not tried to do anything particularly clever coding-wise because... I can't.    The storyline will develop far beyond this initial premise and go into Death's background history, but that's for when the game is actually finished...

NB - I've emailed Dave Gilbert who introduced the Death character to RON, and he seems happy with my ideas for this game.

Thanks all,

CaptainD (or Dave if you want to use my less pretentious real name!!

I kinda liked it.  You just can't not like a game that insults itself at every opportunity!  ;D

Eugene, this is a great - and unique - adventure game. Teh built-in hints system is a great idea (though I still can't find that damn rubber stopper in the hut!!) and the photos are excellent quality.Ã,  The style reminds me of the 16-bit first person games such as Dreamzone, but much better!Ã,

Will have to get round to reviewing this properly soon.Ã,  :D
