Congrats JackPutter, we look forward to see what you come up with for the next mags theme and what your next game will be like.  :)

The site/forum's been having connection problems, maybe connection to the DB failed when you checked.  ;)

Yeah, they look great, very different in style from the previous though.

Will these replace the old, or will they coexist?

The A-Team?

You know they keep throwing this death statistics and all, but I would like them to also mention how many people died of "normal" flu in the same period.  (roll) That would be some thing I could relate to and maybe get people to panic less and realize that, covid-19 or no covid-19, we should just keep certain rules to minimize spreading sickness to those that are already weak.
The gov today announced that they "may" forbid people from going out... if they do they'll just give the hoarders a reason to keep hoarding... as they'll be "Ah! Glad I bought all that stuff when I did and not listen to the gov."  (roll)

I'm just glad it's not Ebola, to be honest, the way it's going it would wipe the planet of people in a flash.  8-0

I don't play for money.

It's the same over here JackPutter, they even decided to use the excuse to close the border today until then 13th april.  (roll) Of course, if you're a national or driving a truck in/out with supplies you still can cross the border... just turists can't. Considering that the 1st that tested positive here was a danish journalist that returned from a conference in Germany, I don't see how stopping tourists only will help anything. They're likely not the ones going to visit sick relatives in the hospital or the ones in a resting home.  (roll)

My husband was shopping this morning, like he does every Saturday morning, where we get milk and fresh bread. No fresh bread cause of the virus, and no milk cause of the hoarders... and then one other costumer was complaining about how bad it was that there was no milk and yadda yadda, and finished with "It's good I bought 15 liters yesterday!"  8-0 My husband felt like hitting him.  :-\

PS - This is not the pasteurized milk that can hold a month or more, but the kind that can hold about a week...

Yes, over here as well. Crazy people, one would think they are planning to be home sick with exploding diarrhea for a month... or a year even...   8-0
I don't get it either. We do miss a single pack of toilet paper though, one of the toilets only has one roll left... but we still have half a pack on the other... And so what if it runs out? We won't die because we don't have it... there's always other alternatives.  (roll)

Oohh, THAT movie!!!!  :-D Loved it, seen it at the cinema and all. But I'll let someone else guess.  ;)

I just realized I didn't answer about winsetup.

Winsetup allows me/the player to choose the best and most compatible settings with his or hers PC. Some people want OpenGl, others something else. It also allows me to check "windowed mode" on, I never play full screen, so before I ran any AGS game, the first thing I run is winsetup. Or if the dev has locked the mouse to the window by some odd reason, I can also uncheck that. So yes, winsetup is important to zip. You should basically zip any and all files that are in the compiled folder.
What I normally do is compile all files, rename the windows folder to the game name, and then zip the folder. That why I also provide a nice folder for the players.  ;) If you compile to other versions like Linux, do the same process to create a new zip for the Linux version.
Do not pack both windows and Linux in the same zip file, please. ;)

But since  had the full project pack, I just grabbed winsetup from there and threw it into the game folder.

Few comments about the games.  (nod)

Frozen Kingdom
Spoiler

Nice story and graphics are okay too. I like how you can keep delivering great games month after month.  :-D
However a few things did cut on my enjoyment: having to walk around talking back and forth so to get to the "next" stage, not being able to pick up the sword when I already knew where to use it and why, but had to go back there another time to get the "trigger" to activate, and the witch constantly bothering when just walking by.

The Frozen Shore
Spoiler

Cute little first game. I enjoyed the non talkative mood of the game, and the puzzle was good too. Though I would have liked to know what I was actually doing before I did it.  (roll)  And a few more responses to hotspots would have been nice. But I did enjoyed it and you got my vote.  (nod)

Unfreeze
Spoiler

Good effort, and like lanchong, I'm not into timed games either, but that was important for you, so there.
However killing your player when he's stuck in a long blocking cut scene is not cool, IMHO, and it got me mad (not to mention it ruined the dramatic scene entirely). You should pause the timer, since the player has no choice to leave and cuts down on willingness to explore the environment if you just going to die like that.

EDIT: I forgot to add that the voice work is top notch! And adds a lot to the game.  :-D

That's weird, still not showing on my end.  (wtf)

EDIT: just noticed that all youtube videos that are embed on the forum aren't working for me.  :-[ Weird, they were working  just yesterday, and restarting FF didn't help.

So it was probably working with the full address, sorry...  :-[

You need to remove the address and just leave the video code... as in delete: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=  and leave zI-uF3y37A4;)

Congrats on the release.  (nod)

Is it Steam only?

Uhm... okay, seems like my info about using UTF-8 was wrong, and it's ANSI instead.  :-[

make sure you save and encode the .trs file to ANSI and NOT in unicode or UTF-8 encoding.

Looking amazing.  (nod)
Keep up the good work.

Just out of curiosity, how far along are you in the game now? roughly...

@Slasher, that's because the key was never suppose to be in his pocket in the first place. He probably placed it there so it would be possible to half-play the broken version.

Edit (a bit spoilery):
Spoiler

The key is actually in Clara's room, which is why I think he placed it in the players pocket, since that room was broken and unplayable. Now that it's playable, he removed the key from the pocket, so it can be picked up where it was in the first place.

EDIT 2: I just unpacked the "releasable game" ... why the hell isn't there a winsetup file?  8-0

I've actually found the cause and solution for both bugs (and posted it on the thread) last night, but it's not up to me to fix and upload a working game.
#1080
Okay, I did a few tests, basicly just /* and */ for codes in rep_exec and blocking the code for the cinema bars seems to solve the problem that is lines 607 to 641 ( 644 to 654 are blocked by you)

I've only tested by placing the character on room 1 and opening and closing the stove door. But before I blocked those lines it would be stuck in walk to mode, and now it's not.

EDIT: you the one that asked for help. I also tried to read the script before and gave up, since it was impossible (or too much effort).

EDIT2: Seems like there's more code that needs blocking, now I went outside and after the "discover Clara scene" the mouse is again stuck in walk to mode, this time blinking.

EDIT3: So I figured out what is happening with Clara's room. And it's got nothing to do with engine bug!

Simply in GlobalScript line 147 you have:
Code: ags

function repeatedly_execute()
{
  //behind tent
  if (behind == true)
  {
    if (Game.DoOnceOnly("disco")
    {
      cJames.SayBackground("blabalan"); // I'm typing and don't want to type the text since irrelevante
    }
    cJames.ChangeRoom(4, 690, 380, eDirectionLeft);
  }
// script continues
}

If you haven't spotter it yet, you never change this condition to false! Which means it keeps repeating (the changeRoom) and blocking the player from doing anything!

Add behind=false; before you change room, and it's fixed.  (roll)
