I love sci-fi, but having a fix palette is not something I work with.

General Discussion / Re: the blender 3D thread
Wed 01/09/2021 18:35:55
Haven't tried the grease pencil either, but doubt I could produce any decent 2D graphic with just a mouse to draw with.

Keep them coming Tycho! Only other Blender abstract  cra... errmm... artist that I know is selmiak.  (nod)

My newest Blender stuff is plastered all over my newest game "Trade it forward". But I was neither friends with Eevee nor Cycles this time around.  :( Think I need to stop using those cool materials from BlenderKit, they are way too heavy (read good quality) and my poor computer and GC can't handle them. Think I would have saved time making my own materials as I usually do, than waiting forever to see it render (if it didn't crash).

Download here (I'll change the link once I've added it to db): https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2564-trade-it-forward/

And with a few minutes to spare.  (laugh)
Hopefully there won't be dead ends or crashes.

Edit: Link now points to the DB!  (nod)

PS - I know the start GUI sucks, just lacked the time to make it better.  :-[

Nah, I don't wan't an extension. I'm looking forward to sleep more than 4 hours per night.  (nod)

Definetly, yes, unless my computer crashes and loses all data or there's a major power failure that stops me from uploading.

Right now it's playable, but there's one bug that can leave one stuck in an endless loop (which is driving me nuts).
And another one heltenjon just found, but that I think I know exactly how to fix it.
And one cutscne missing, that is missing (just really need some more Say commands so the player can know what happend.
And the current game star GUI kind of sucks and I need to add the game title to it.

That's about it. Rest is just polishing and adding more interactions with stuff around (which I have the text, but lack the time to add).

* Cassiebsg looks at calender...

Uhm... there's still a few days to go... but now I dare not ask for an extension, so the 31 it will be.  (laugh)

Good job you two, by getting done before time!  :) (nod)

I'm the one behind, not you...  (laugh)
Time and work just haven't helped, as I'm putting extra hours at work so that we can deliver the projects on time there (and missing deadlines there has much dire consequences than in here...).
Anyway, I'm starting to get friendly with Blender again, so sprites are being rendered like mad atm...
Coding, though requires concentration, and when both husband and son want one's attention, means only a few hours at best during the night (when I'm suppose to be sleeping...  (roll))

But I do plan to meet the deadline... and hopefully it's be a game by then, and not just a show of intentions.  ( (roll)
#349
I'm trying to meet the deadline, but there's still no playable game.
#350
Could we place a small text in the replace all GUI warning about that?
#351
Sorry, I seemed to have found another bug (not sure if it has been reported before).

I needed to replace some characters by another (text wise, not playable ones). So I just did a "Replace All" entire project.... and it worked, it replaced 92... but it did NOT replace all. Apparently it can't replace in dialog options?

Well, at least the rest has been fixed, so less for me to manually fix.
#352
Good job! they look great as usual.

And a good thing they have names... that pink backpack took me a while to figure out what kind of animal it was... a pink panda? a Pikachu?  (laugh) Focus on the backpack, take the tan color and imagine it's the head, then the pockets are closed eyes... and the top, the hair?  (laugh)  (laugh) Oh, and Zniw's arm is the hear.  (roll)

I guess, it depends on what kind of business it is.
If your business has some kind of design side to it, then I would say definitely! Otherwise you're probably fine with using a template. Though a custom design will bring the site up to a new level, no matter what your business is.

Anyway, there are plenty of good freelancers out there, and you can always ask for their portfolio and samples of their work, so that you can make an informed decision. If you don't want to bother with it, then do go with an established firm. You might end up paying more for the service, but on the other hand you use less time finding a freelancer that your happy with.
#354
Yes, it's the sprites backup file.
It should create a new one when you add new sprites to the project, I expect.
#355
That's actually a very good one! (laugh)  (laugh)
#356
I complained about it some years ago, probably at the time I did my first game.
But no idea where exactly I posted it, thought. Likely the wrong place.  (roll)
#357
I'm not sue this is the right place for this note/request, but...

I've noticed, again, that dialogues still do not save.  :-\
Meaning I just spend some time adding dialogues, then close the dialog and when I opened it again all was gone! Empty.  :~(
Now I'll need to go check all the other dialogues to make sure they're not empty/missing changes.
Can we either set them to autosave when closing it, or at least come with a warning that is hasn't been saved yet, and if I want to save it??? That would save me so much lost time.

Bizarrely, if I add a new option it does save, but not any text added on the right won't.
#358
good, so I was missing something, glad I asked. :)
I would have said it earlier, but I only noted it today and I haven't made a game since last year, and that one had very few graphics for me to have noticed.
Anyway, adding that tick "remember last import options" would be a great idea. I did look for one. What I didn't thought about was check the preferences.  :-[
#359
Okay, thanks a bunch for the new version. I'm using it for the current MAGS project.  (nod) :-D

But I just noticed something that is driving me nuts. When importing sprites, it doesn't keep my previous import setting. It's defaulting to "Top-left pixel" instead of "Leave as-is".  >:( Am I missing something, or is this another "feature" of the new import?

Critics' Lounge / Re: British Voice Acting!

Have you tried posting a thread on the recruitment forum? Just post that you are looking for want your budget is.
There might just be someone that'll take you up on your offer, and if they can deliver a good read does it matter if they're not voice actors?
