Across the pond (but guess this one depends if one is in the USA or Europe (laugh))

I probably won't be attending the awards, but maybe someone would like to use Minifeg as an avatar? (nod)

Congrats to you and the team! :-D

Hi and welcome.

You can script it on the GlobalScript, but instead of using the object name you need to use it's ID.

So let's say your obus ID is 1:

replace obus with object[1]

Simple as that. Good luck!

It's great what you guys managed to do with an "impossible" shape... (nod)
I had many many ideas, but had to throw all away, cause there was just like 1/3 to 2/3 of the shape left to fill. :~(
So, I officially give up. :(

Ahm... RetroJay, you don't need all that import/export stuff, all you need is to define a Global Variable (you find it on your project tree) and create the variable there with an initial value. Then all you need to do is set it up in the script to change that value, and then the if/else condition to check for the change... ;)

Really lovely stuff there! :-D
Love it how you get the "portraits" speaking, it's something I fell that is missing in a lot of games that use portraits.

Here's a few thoughts I had while watching the video:
Spoiler

I miss some kind of frame around the portrait, or a "fade" in the edges of it... don't know exactly what and how, just feel that there's some kind of finish missing in there.

I missed the "hand gesture" inviting to sit on the sofa. But not sure if it's possible when the portrait and text is running. Just felt natural to me to have the character do the gesture. I know I did it in my mind. ;)

The Ambassador seems quite unease seating like that... Maybe he's not planning to stay very long and therefor isn't relaxing on the sofa?

And now that I looked a second time at the video, I feel the arms/hands to be a bit stiff in their swing. Remember that when we walk, there are 3 major joints that are moving, and sometimes even the fingers swing a bit. But that might be going a bit too far for this. ;) It's not a big deal, I didn't even noticed it the first time I watched it. But if you have the time, you might wish to adjust it slightly.

Hope I'm not abusing... if so just send me to go find "a corner in a barrel"... (laugh)

Hints & Tips / Re: Mess Goblins

Sure, since you ask :)

Here's the solution:
Spoiler

Use the chewing gum to stick the candy on! ;)
Spoiler

You need to chew the gum first, then use it on the floor.

Isn't it true that timers "cancel" it self after they run out?

Think you want to setup your timer to run 20 minutes. And if I remember correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong, an not that good at math) the game runs at 40 cycles a second, which means 20min*60sec*40cycles=48000.

So, that would mean you need to set you timer to 48000. And then check for when it's run out. If you don't start that timer again in your code, then that should do it.

I think I only have one mess left, and I'm pretty sure I've figured out the next puzzle, but I'm stuck getting something I need.
Spoiler
Where do I get bait to catch the fish? I'm carrying candy, chewed gum, the fishing pole, a paperclip, a coin and the nail file.

Hint 1:
Spoiler

What do fish like?
Spoiler

It's black and has wings...

Hint 2:

It's sweet and sticky...

If these hints aren't enough, just say so, cause I can't think of another hint without giving the solution away. ;)

Congrats! or should I say "gratis"? ;)

Just lovely. ;-D
I'm still fiddling with it, think I've tried like 10 different stuff with no luck. :-X
Maybe my last idea will be the successful one. (nod)

Anyone actually played an adventure game with a joystick?

Ahm... didn't even thought it was possible... 8-0
Then again, I don't think I ever had a joystick for the PC, and as far as I remember I've only ever player adventure games on the PC (okay, I tried some text ones on the Amiga, but those don't count as you need to write and not point&click. ;) ).

1st: JWALT I really love the idea of using a tablet to "teleport" elsewhere. And nicely done! (nod)

2nd: MISJ' This lovely Disney style genie is just awesome! Very well done and imagined breaking with the "conventional" idea of what a portal is. :)

3rd: I<3PINDORAMA My mind still hasn't quite figured out how this portal works... :~( But sure is original! (laugh)(nod)

Granted! Unfortunately you lost your voice.

I wish for the next person to wish a wish.

AwesomeBump is free: you can find it at awesomebump.besaba.com

Haven't tried it for sprites, only textures for Blender... but should work? :)

Ahm... How does one download? Can't see a link to click on when I get to that dwl page. :(

Today... reason why I didn't had time to model one on my own... ;)
But inspiration come from the above mentioned thread...

However I had something more like this in mind (starting min 1): (laugh)

I promise I'll post the original portal once is done, but it wasn't that interesting as a sprite, the environment was/is though. But don't delay the competition on the name of it. (wrong)

Anyway, here's my cheated sprite (yes, I stole the model from roca.com, and it's a real life toilet! probably more fitted to this thread though: something toilets (laugh)

Anyway presenting the ultimate portal (just wish my 3D skills were at a level that I could do a swirl):

Unfortunately my portal isn't cooperating, so I won't make the deadline (yesterday I thought I finally had it cooperating, but it didn't. So I'll have to work a bit longer on that one, but... I'll try and make something up with a new idea I just had today. (laugh)
Hopefully it'll give you all a good laugh if nothing else. ;)
