You could just try and make it smaller and see if that works better? (nod)

Lovely! :)
I just love Roger!

And a first person adventure game for a change:
EXHIBIT #39: Shivers

Box:

Catalog and Portuguese manual:

The CD:

Let me know if you want a close up of any of the box/cd art/text... I might be able to grab it from the high-red photo... otherwise it will require a new photo in the summer...

I've tried a bit of the demo and love the graphic, animations and gui, great job there but...

Spoiler

I really don't like the font. Sorry, I know you probably put in a lot of hard work on it, but I find it hard to read as being so big. Maybe if it was smaller it would work, I can't say.
Spoiler

Haven't tried much more than the first task, as the mentioned above problem, made me want to stop.

I really don't want to add more wood to the fire but...

Why you dissing a new member who criticizes that he/she doesn't like pixel hunting? You have absolutely no knowledge of who this person is. What makes one not be a "noobie" and have the right to speak it's mind? Does one need to have made a game or two, before his or hers opinion can be valid?

I don't like pixel hunting either, had you not a overhotspot "help", then I would have gave up on it also, or waited for a walktrough. Even with the overhotspot, it's hard to spot the stuff when they aren't bigger than a pixel or two.
I found the wallet by pixel hunting, cause I wasn't allowed to leave the house without it, had I been allowed I wouldn't have found it.
The red flower was "oh, there's something there" and the other one I was going crazy to find it, and only cause I knew there were two cause Monsieur OUXX had mentioned it, so I knew I needed one more flower.

Adventure games are more enjoyable if you don't need to comb for stuff, and rather make you use your brain matter to solve the problems (like the trunk puzzle).

Just take the criticism as "do less pixel hunting, and more intelligent puzzles" and we'll all be more happy.
Doesn't mean you can't hide stuff, but then give clues either visual, spoken or sound related, so you can help the player to find the stuff. Could be for instance a timer, that if a person has checked all obvious hotspots and some not so obvious, but after some time has not stumble into that spot, then Indy could have said something like "I remember there was something around the window..." or "uhm... this flower smells familiar" (after the player passes by it for the 10th time without noticing it...

Now go make part 2, cause we're waiting for it! :)

The game looks great, but please put in keyboard support. There is a reason why almost no platformer uses mouse controls

+1

Or add a response of up/dowm on the mouse... I find my self trying to jump or stand up by pulling the mouse up. (laugh)

I also loved the movie, don't get why some ppl don't. One of the few I have on DVD (but have not watched it as much as you did though)... ;)

Anyway, here's a new movie clip, hope it's not easy... ;-D

A perfect world? (with Kevin Costner)

Sorry, didn't knew there were others with the same name... :-[

If you really want to learn how to draw a human figure in any imaginable position, then yes, a wooden mannequin you can use to train hand drawing is a good idea. And they are not that expensive nowadays anyway. You can also just sit and draw passer by people, that helps you grab the very essential features of the human body, since you need to draw fast (cause your model will not wait for you to take all details).
And we are in the internet age, so there are lots and lots of reference pictures and videos for you to practice. ;) Meaning that you don't need to start with a blank slate, you can get a ref. picture and then just paint over it to get the right proportions. If you do persist, the you will eventually get good at it and will be able to draw a convincing human from a blank slate.

Good luck! :)

PS - And yes, the 9 "heads" is the normal proportion for an adult human, a child will have less "heads"... Here's a good reference picture for it found via Google:

I don't know much about health bars, but how did you code it?
You probably want a global int variable that you can add/subtract point from, and then display it's value as the player's health.

I also seem to remember to ave read about health bars here in the forum in the last six months, so I would suggest a search for it. ;)

Perfect World?
Probably not, I just have the feeling I've seen that scene before...

The first few moments were pretty good:
Spoiler
Smaug laying waste to Lake Town and then being brought down (though I felt how Bard took him down was kind of stupid).

Ah, ah aha...
Spoiler

I was "when did he had the time to set that rig up?" and "as soon as he releases the rope, he's going to fire the arrow and take his son's head with it"... (nod)

After that it just fell flat for me.  I hate saying it, but it's how I feel.

Quote from: Mandle on Mon 05/01/2015 03:17:23One thing I really, really hate about these Hobbit films is Legolas and his uberness!!!

Okay, since I haven't read the book, I did not know he was not in it... great... major role for one that did not even take part in any of it... (roll)
Spoiler

And I could not let my imagination believe that that tower would actually hold there for them to fight/dance and crumble little by little...
Sorry, but these structures are bearing and counting on their weight to hold in place, as soon as you lay them down they won't hold and would have crumbled right away.
When I saw what he was going to do I just thought "great, drop a tower on the troll... your flaaaaaat.... whaaaat? noooooo!" :~(

The point WAS to milk the franchise from the start. It was never about the story. Since we already knew that the story was not big enough to fill 3 full length movies.

On the positive note, I loved watching the end credits and all that fantastics art! (laugh)

I don't really play full-screen anymore, as I enjoy to be able to break from a game, read a forum, check irc or icq, etc. Kind of feel "claustrophobic" and like am missing something. (roll)
The other AGS games normally pause as soon as you click outside (and then I go and add a line to the cfg, to let them run even if am doing something else) but this one works the other way around. ???
And I don't see the line in cfg that should do that (multitasking=1).

But I did try the fullscreen for this one, and the screen is just too big for my mouse to follow... and there are some weird stuff happening in the "black" side bars... I'll do a screen cap later if you want to check it out.

Would love to help!
I don't know Japanese, but always wanted to learn (just have lacked to courage to cast myself into that task, yet). So this is perfect, play and learn! (laugh)

Am not sure what's more frustrating... dieing over and over again, or posting a post that doesn't get posted... :-\

Hahaha...because everyone knows Cassie just LOVES games that require reflexes... 8-0

Actually I quiet enjoy action/reflex games, just not platformers and games that you need to start over from scratch like in the old days of no save games. So I rather enjoy the save game of this one. :)

One thing I found useful early on was:
Spoiler
In most cases early on you can just jump right on top of enemies with the bat readied and nail them instantly when you land,
[close]

One thing I found out...
Spoiler

You don't actually need to kill the bad guys at all, you can just run and jump past them, since they don't shoot, kill on contact or follow you once they are off screen...
Probably missing a collision detection here, though that would make using the bat very hard. 8-0

One thing I'm struggling is that, when playing in windowed mode, once my mouse gets out of the game window the game continues playing but I have no way of controlling the character anymore, and thus death is upon me. >:(

Only movies (triology) I've seen in the past 3 years at the cinema... Either I'm a fan or there's too few quality movies I want to watch at the cinema. (laugh)

I enjoyed that they finally killed some main characters, as in the past 2 they were a bit too "lucky" for my taste.
3D was "meehhh"... I miss the out effects. Without out effects, it's pointless, since you miss the depth concentration after 5-10 minutes, and then it's like watching a normal 2D movie.

Did found the ending a bit "too easy"... but don't know if the movie is at fault or the book, since I have not read them.

Managed to get to the 1st boss... my nerves are a wreak, my hand hurts and I've cursed a lot... And when I finally was getting used to the controls... you add a new control... 8-0

After some counseling I finally managed to convince my banner that it's "participating that matters, not winning"... so...

Oh mighty King Fork, I present thee the rise of the 3 pointed crown and it's defending lions:

[IMGzoom]http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/ww258/Cassiebsg/Misc/bannercomp.png[/imgzoom]

I pray it is worthy of your consideration and that I will not end in your gallows...

RUN EVERYONE!!! He will EAT US ALL!!!
(And use our children as hors d'oeuvres!!!)

Done and done... my poor attempt to a banner was so ashamed of it's self that it buried it's head in the sand. And no matter what I tell it, I can't convince it to enter the competition... (roll)

Bedpost and Tin Can.
... I thought "bed pole" even before I noticed a hotstop called "bed pole"...
As for the tin can, yes, I hadn't noticed it either... my mouse was already going to the opposite side of the screen when accidentally got past over it and I said "tin...? wait, there was something different there!".
