The Rumpus Room / Re: Ponch is in trouble now

I'm pretty sure it's called "A Ponch in the Park"... ;) and we know how the "original" ended... 8-0

I basically always use "Show unread posts since last visit.", and once I read one post I just use the browser's back button.
Works just fine, only down is that you can't see edited posts. But you can't  see those either with any other method that I know off anyway, except for manually open the threat to check for any editing.

You know, being "strict" with you, might just mean he saw your potential miles away, and he knew that being strict would only make you better and take advantage of all you potential. So even if it's a pain that he's only "picking on you" in the end he might just be doing you a favor. ;)

Since there's a terrorist in the picture, I'll say: 24 ?

RetroJay, maybe you just holding the A key a bit too long, and AGS interprets as 2 key strikes, and thus skips the text? /beats me if this is even the way AGS works).
You could set the dialog to only mouse or only timer, and then see if you can still make the dialog flashing away to happen? Just as a test, not saying you should change game design, but might be useful to make sure it's not a keystroke you're making that you don't even notice. ;)

Oh... I can already see the potential for this one! The Body hits a wall and the head continues it's journey... (laugh)

Please disregard if what I'm asking is sooo basic, that doesn't even apply here... but since I noticed advanced users forgetting a few basics I'll ask anyway.

What type of events have you set you for the dialog?
That little line that says "Allow Speech to be skipped by which events", cause maybe that is interfering?

But probably has nothing to do with this, since you wish to let the player type away from the text...

I would say that graphic resolution, amount of characters/objects/animations in a room have more influence into the game speed, rather than a bit of text, no mater how big that text is (okay, maybe if it's like 50G file, might be a problem (roll) )...

Hopalong, you got it! :)
I had completely forgotten about it until I saw that image.

Sorry CaptainD, forgot. I'll edit it for your pleasure only. (laugh)

Yup, the 18-55mm would solve most your daily day problems... you'll also need a macro lens, if you like/wish to take close up pictures (like a flower, a beetle, or something else small).
But make sure you buy a good one, preferably Canon. I once bought a cheap compatible one for my Canon, and it stopped working a day or two after I bought it. I got it replaced, but I should have gotten the cue and traded it in with a Canon one right there. The new replaced one stopped working a week or two later, and I ended up with a lens I couldn't use anymore (and if you wonder why I didn't went and replace that one also, it was cause I bought it in China, and by that time I had returned home... :-X ).

ah crap! Don't know the game, but I recognize the lower left head... and I can't remember his name! (roll)

EDIT: Got it! Mortadelo y Filemón!

Finished it now. (laugh)
Thanks bunch for fixing it, loved playing this little gem full of humor! Great job!

If any complaints, is that the video play hacks on my machine, and specially the end video was like watching a slow motion film dropping frames all over.
Not sure what AGS uses to play the video, but playing it outside with VLC plays just fine, no hacking and really smooth animation.

just a quick check, where exactly have you defined global_variable?

You need to add it to the Global Variables, and it needs to be called exactly the same.
You don't need to import it, just define it there, and not in any script file...
Hope I make sense, and that am helping a bit here... otherwise just say so, and someone better than me will jump im to the help, am sure. :)

Adeel, frankly I can't see why you mean you are "part of a minority"... I didn't see any posts saying the game looked bad or that the art style is awful... What we said is "It's not type of game KQ is knowns for, not the type of game _we_ are interested in, and might as well have been called something else, cause it would be all the same for the generation that does want to play platforms and/or action-adventure games.

It's like now a days, people don't dare get something done with a brand new name, we just need to reboot everything. It's sooo much easier to just grab a random established name and then just do something completely different to a completely different audience. Instead of just saying "Okay, we're picking up this old concept, update it to today's graphics, get rid of all that boring puzzle solving and walking around, we need to run and jump and be super active, oh but we've kept the name! Surely that must count for 90% of the game already right? Right?" (roll)

What the, did it do to me? That's not fair, I wanna my old system back!

If you're using Windows, try a System Restore (if it's activated on your settings).
Rememberer to backup any important files, and good luck!

I think this thread is hunted by all these lost cities... errmmm... files.

Really really nice game, unfortunatly I seemed to manage to get it stuck into the hourglass...
Spoiler

This is a spoiler view at the risk of your own insanity, if you have not yet played the game!

And now I have to close the game and start over, as I hadn't saved... :~(

EDIT: Just played it again to the same point, saved it this time around, and yup, something happened! Is this a bug? Or am I just unlucky to have gotten a broken copy? (I got the zip file, but should not be anydiference, right?)
