That was exactly what I thought! :) A funny cut scene from DW2... maybe I need to get DW2 and play it one of these days.

I think one is probably the minimum... then again, if you make a game that only uses a GUI, then you probably get away with zero rooms.... (laugh)(roll)

Wouldn't it then be better to change the camera when the character reaches "the critical" point in the BG, and move the camera so it never shows the black edge (maybe using a region)?
I'm no expert in coding, but it would probably be easier to add a few lines of code to each room, instead of having to redraw all the areas, and behinds and hotspots, an objects, if you are that far along.

Maybe cause it's from DiscWorld II? I've only played Discworld and tried to play Noir (it kept crashing so I gave up on it). Unless  there's another game that plays with Discworld. :)

You're not doing a 100% identical game (otherwise you would need to use the original verbs), so where the door open/disappears to, is entirely your choice. ;)

But maybe Khris or someone with more experience will have a solution for your problem.

AGS only resets that stuff, if you import a BG with a different resolution/size than the original one.
Are your BGs shorter than game resolution? I'm no expert, but if you import shorter BGs then AGS needs to fill in the space with something... otherwise it should just scroll until it can't no more with added black edges like those.

But maybe someone with more experience can give you a better reply and solution to the problem.

Don't know how to solve your problem, but a solution could be to have another object for the open door, and so the player clicks on the open door object to close it, and the hotspot of the open door, to change room. Think it would a logical solution for the player to understand what is he/she is doing. ;)

If you don't mind asking... what's permadeath??? Do you mean to permanently kill the player?  Permanently kill the player's computer? Something else related with death?

Don't think it can qualify as a BG... though... I could always draw a character from above, with a few lines... (laugh)

LSL was one of the first ones I've played, can't remember if I played the "remake", cause I'm not a fan of it (the Remake). (nod)

I'm not sure I remember much nor if I would be a good Beta tester, but if you like, I'm up for a play test. :)

Hadn't even realized that there were differences to WinExplorer... maybe cause I avoid it like the plague? :P Only ever use it, when a program insists in using it, and does not let me drag and drop the files from my favorite prog. (WinCommander)

Oh please, selmiak, don't expect too much... if I work as much on it as I have done in the last few days, it won't be more than a few 2D lines... :embarrassed:
I'm still trying to catch up on RL, that I neglected to be able to meet MAGS deadline.

I won't make it, am still doing the 2D plan and have yet to start lifting walls, much less adding detail, lights and rendering, unless I actually sit and hand draw a BG...
