It's a hard shape/topic... :O
I got a sketch, but it's far from finished. I'll try and finish it until the deadline, otherwise I'll post the sketch.

I think Snarky is right.
You could try another place to store your pics. I use PhotoBucket and it suits my needs, but there are others like imgur or flirk (probably misspelled!)

I would say, yes, even if not a direct help with writing a game in another language. But you don't just learn to code in a language, you get to learn also how to program and how the computer "thinks". So I guess, once you start thinking like a computer when writing the code so it behaves like you want it, then that experience will hold on and be carried on to your next stage, where ever that may lead you.

And welcome, I'm also new to the community (been her since March) and going slowly with my game (mostly cause I really don't have that much free time, but I think it's a lot of fun). :D

Made a little video of my first animation dialog. :)
I know, not that big of a deal, but just felt like sharing.

The Rumpus Room / Re: Chef AGS

Every time I read the name of the topic, I think "Sounds like a nice game"... ;)

straydogstrut, sounds like some x-mas yummy sweet desert we have in Portugal, called Rabanada (though, here I prefer the sugar syrup to the sugar on top). ;)

Concept: Misj' (and now go make that game! There's just so much to explore there!)
Artistic execution: Selmiak (that is just beautiful!)
Playability: Misj'

Personally, I rarely give much credit to how many stars, or in this case blue cups, a game/movie/show has, but will rather read the why the reviewer thought so. In other words, maybe the reviewer thinks "this game is a gem because of all the mini-games and cinematic hugs cut scenes", then even if it gets the max blue cups it's probably still not the game for me, since I rather be free from (forced) mini-games and long cuts scenes tend to bore me (if I want to watch a movie, I'll seat by the sofa and turn my brain off for about 1,5 hour... lol).
So, for me, the reasons why one rates a game like they do, are more important than the rate it self. It also provides the author with some feed back/criticism, where to improve the next game (assuming the author agrees with the points, that is).

EDIT Hmm, what about "Prefer stretch to width / height"? This is same as "no borders", but without "no" word.

Isn't that also known as "Full screen/fk ratio"?, and with borders would be "Full screen, keep aspect ratio"?... or is it just me that has no idea what you guys are talking about? :)

Congrats to all! :)
And many thanks for the votes. My very first souvenir!
And my "guy" is loving it! He hated that halve-wit barrel I gave him for the pool, he kept complaining that it wasn't stable enough even if it gave him extra protection...

Try this (from your Haunted Castle thread):

Code: ags

I don't have many suggestions, just a single one. I think the flag needs to be bigger. The pole should almost touch the roof. Looks rather "weak" as it is. Not sure the 3 pictures behind it work there. You could try and move them slightly, maybe closer to the "walkway?"? That space just looks cluttered as it is.

I like the rest. Though, I think I preferred the mountains as BG. ;)

General Discussion / Re: We are not bemused

If English keeps "evolving" that fast like that, I better start thinking of re-learning the language again... http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/Smileys/AGS/smiley16_laughing.gif

But all language evolves, and we "old ones" just get annoyed at those "youth" that can't spell or write right... and one a couple years, the circle will complete, with the current youth getting old, and thinking that the young ones can't spell or write properly...

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Entrapment

Hey.

Thanks for making this game freeware! :)
I just downloaded and played it, really nice and cool sound track, very fitting.

Unfortunately I had suspected who the killer was from the moment I read your synopsis above (and somehow hoped I was wrong)...

If you really want some bad criticism, then I have a couple points...
Spoiler

Basically, they aren't really story related or puzzle related, but art related. I find it odd that the Hotel has a strategically placed shaft just to run the cables up to the roof. And was kind of disappointed that the recording was seen from the players  view angle, rather from the camera's angle! Was it to save time into making another room?
[close]

As others say, the intro cut scene was a bit too long, and dialog between far/son felt a bit forced and unnatural. And you could have break it, by letting the player start playing by getting the mail. ;)

But overall, really nice game that kept me playing and immersed in the game. I didn't even got to save, so now I need to play it again from the start, just to see the other ending. LOL

"Almost" because of the red square under the hand keeping the saw.

Yeah, I know, I wasn't sure what to do with it, so decided that he had a red cape on... but the art sucked there to show what it was suppose to be. ;)

This is looking awesome jwalt!
The only "grip" I have is the fact that Tabata seems to have that sword glued to her hand... or maybe it's her obscure physic powers that hold the sword in place? ;)

1 - AprilSkies (Who would have guessed that a pool could hide such a big and awesome sub?)
2 - Billbis (cause tentacles are cool!)
I'm split on 3rd place though... I just can't decide, so I'll split my vote in 2!
3 - jawlt (a piranha? realy? I would have never guessed it!) and selmiak (cause Elvis is alive! ;) )

I haven't played that many AGS games yet, so my list is rather limited ATM...

But All pigs deserve to burn in hell is currently my favorite!
Even if rather short, it has a great story, simple graphics that do the job and a great atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much, that it will have a definite place in my top favorite adventure games ever! :)

Like selmiak, I think that there's missing something at the bottom of the dress.
Not sure if it's the lack of shading, outline, or something else; but maybe it's missing some detail to show that is actually a dress laying on the floor, and not a weird "blob" and funny shape dress... Maybe only having it "flow" being the character, like it would normally do when one walks and then stops???
