Hello! I am asking a big big favor! And a lot of trust is involved!

I need one of you kind American ags'ers to do a little christmas food shopping for me. I've got a couple of friends (and myself) who love american food but can't really pay the price that importers charge us over here.

If someone would be kind enough to buy me these items, then i will pay for all the item prices plus whatever shipping costs. I'm hoping it'll be cheaper than the websites that offer these products.

I would like:

2x big bags of hot cheetos
a BIG amount of hot Beef jerky (over 1lb)
A 24 crate of mountain dew
And some fruity loops with the marsh mallows in :)

I don't know how easy it will be to send them over here, if the cost is too high then i guess there's no point but i really want to get my hands on these items!

I could pay via paypal.

Hope someone can help me!

cheers :)

General Discussion / Classic car drivers?
Sun 03/12/2006 17:23:59
Here's a new one, was wondering if anyone on the ags drives a classic car? Seeing as we're so in our retro gaming, why not retro driving!

Personally i drive around in this beauty, she's called casper.

Post your cars chaps!

So i'm considering getting a new digital camera, something decent like the Fuji S5600 SLR.

But i'm not really sure it's worth me putting my money into something if i'm no good at it.

Take a look at these photo's and tell me if it's worth me carrying on with photography. Be harsh, please. These photo's were taken with my old digicam before i sold it.

And my fave one:

So yes, critique please.

Ahh, how nice to have a program which is so easy to use and yet so powerful! Excellent!

Okay, so i'm learning 3ds max in prep for a degree in digital media that i will be taking next year.

But i'm having problems!

I've made a house, go me  :) But now editing polygons im having a problem using the camera in 'perspective' view. I've never had problems with this kinda of thing before but the camera seems to lock up when zooming in and out. For example if i zoom too far in the zoom will lock and i wont be able to zoom in/out anymore (sometimes if i keep scrolling back to zoom out eventually it will zoom out).

This is very annoying! I want to carry on creating my house but i can't do so untill i can get my head around this damn camera.

Any help would be much apreciated.

kind regards,

Just wanted to show this one really, sorry its a bad scan i ended up having to take a picture of the sketch with my digicam.

I'm really happy with the way this turned out.

Comments please! And maybe some advice on starting colouring!

Was bored at the girlfriends house so i started doodling.

Scanned them in and tried colouring the background and spriting the chatacter. It looks okay i guess but nothing fancy. Would really apreciate some input and tips on making it look better.

Howdy,

Monkey was helping me with some of the HTMI scripting untill 4am this morning and we made a good deal of progress.

But he's asleep now and i'm having a problem :P

See ive got this code

gIconbar.Visible = (mouse.y >= 180);

which is under repeatedly execute in my global script, its there to make the gui visible when the curser goes to the bottom of the screen. But i have two problems.

If i have used the gui off command to turn it off it still comes up when my curser heads to the bottom of the screen, i'm guessing because it's in repeatedly execute. How would i go by fixing this?

And also i want there to be a 2 second or so delay so the gui stays at the bottom after i move my mouse to the botton of the screen...

So basicly, the GUI takes up about 25% of the bottom of the screen, but the hotspot to make the gui popup only takes 10% or so. What i want is after the gui has popped up i want it to stay there for 2 seconds or so, so that the user can click the buttons at the top of the GUI.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense but I'm tired and rambling.

thanks in advance.

sorry for the boring topic but this is really bugging me.

I would love to find out what game it was i played when i was young.

right it was an point and click adventure (i think) and i played it on playstation. It had:

dragons as characters, cartoony disney like dragons.

You were a dragon knight

There were female dragons (i think)

And you were in a castle

That's all i remember, sorry its not much. I'm really high at the moment so i may remember more tomorrow.

Also if anyone bothers to read this part then i would like to chat about this too. I go through completely random burts of creativity with my game. I go weeks without working on it and then i'll simply work on it solid for days and days. Does anyone know how i be in the second mindset more often. I really want to get HTMI finished.

Also i am looking for a new musician to work with me seeing as Stefan Z isn't replying to my messages.

Also also, i'm sorry about my lack of posts recently; or lack of interesting posts. I really love this community and everything it gives, im on here every day and i simply do not give enough back to you guys.

So thats about it, sorry for the randomness but you know...

Lots of love, Nathan.

Hello again,

My friend Kelly wants some advice on this sprite, she needs help with the arms/legs. She hasn't finished the shading just yet.

Any advice?

Howdy,

I've got a lot of spare cash floating around and i want to buy myself a birthday present so i'm looking to start photography. Now i've got this terrible habbit where i won't keep at anything unless i think it's going to benifit me somewhere in the future.

Now i believe i've got quite a keen eye for photograhy, i've studied art for three years on different levels and i'd like to think that that would help. But i'm not really sure where to start. Obviously the work that LGM does is quite amazing and very inspiring so i've got myself a role model to look up to already i just need some pointers of where to start.

I've yet to buy myself a camera and i've got a budget of around £200 but im not looking to spend all of that if i can help it. So i would apreciate some help buying a camera, i'm guessing that my best option is to go with one that you can fiddle around with the settings yourself (exposure etc). And after that any pointers of where to start would be apreciated too. Oh, and to add that that all do you think that photography is a good career to look into? I'm looking at my options for uni, also to what extent does photograhy have a part in graphic web design? As a graphic designer would you be asked to take your own photo's?

Thanks for reading, hope i can get some pointersÃ,  :)

So i've been shopping round for the best parts to keep to my budget and i think i've landed on a nice system that'll be running the new releases for a good couple of years.

Take a look:

Processor

Pentium D 805 Dual Core 64 bit LGA 775 2 x 2.66 GHz

Ã,  £86.07

Cheap motherboard, with full support for components

Asus P5VD1-X SKT775 PT880 1066FSB AGP and PCI-E VGA slots

Ã,  £37.46

RAM

2x512 ddr400 pc3200 (this'll do for the mean time, the motherboard has support for two more sticks)

£60.08

Harddrive

Maxtor 6V200E0 200GB SATA300 7200rpm

£49.94

Optical Device

LG GSA-H10ABAL 16xDVDRW/RAM Internal Black (cheap, and better than my 32x cdrw)

£25.84

So that's £264.89 overall, and then i've got the choice of getting myself a pimp little case to go with it aswell. I apreciate there's no graphics card there, i'll be running my agp card untill the next pay cheque comes through and i can get myself a PCI express card.

I apreciate there's a few other bits i may need, such as a usb card (stupid cheap mobo doesnt have any usb ports) but these can be picked up in town.

What do you think, is it a reasonable system? Or for the same amount of money should i get myself a 360?

Okay so I've had a fair amount of help with this from Eric, using Ghormak's palette program i've managed to get mine sorted and all the colours are in the relevant slots and all seems to be working. But when i try to press my button to change the colours of the bg nothing happens. Here's the code:

  if (interface == OPTIONS) {
    // They clicked a button on the GUI

    if (button == 0) {
SetPalRGB (18,26,17,17) ;
SetPalRGB (19,63,29,13) ;
UpdatePalette () ;
    }

    if (button == 1) {
SetPalRGB (18,27,24,5) ;
SetPalRGB (19,58,55,35) ;
UpdatePalette () ;
    }

  }

and here's an image of the palette

Do you think it's possible that the background isn't linked with the colours in my palette and moreso link to the 'room dependant' colours?

All help is greatly apreciated, i really need to get this sorted this morning!

Or atlest fake vector. I've been playing around in photoshop.

here's my latest creation, a picture of my girlfriend:

what do people think? It was fairly easy to do and a good laugh. Looks quite professional to me too, think it's worthy to go in my portfolio? Would it appeal to professional advertising companies?

lots of questions :)

General Discussion / 3D modeling help
Wed 19/04/2006 19:54:01
I've been doing a lot of 3D modeling the last couple of days and am currently working on a female character.

As of recently i'd never modeled before, only designed maps so this is a first for me.

I was wondering where i'm meant to go from here:

I've got my front faces sorted out and if iwanted i could connect up the sides but then the sides of my model wouldnt be rounded, just strait? I've been trying for hours and i really don't understand how im supposed to make the sides of my model round aswell as the front and back.

And help would be great, or pointing me in the direction of a tutoral (the one i'm following is pants).

cheers,

General Discussion / This weeks Kerrang!
Fri 07/04/2006 17:49:54
How awesome! This week in the UK Kerrang gives you free Metallica's master of puppets remastered on CD! The likes of Trivium, Machine head, Bullet for my Valentine, FFAF and even Fightstar have all recorded the great songs for a one off album!

Seriously, it's a must buy. Even if you plan to sell it on ebay for large sums later in life!

General Discussion / New demo cd released!

Hey all

My band have recently recorded some of our tracks and stuck them onto a demo cd. You can listen and download two of the tracks on our www.myspace.com/hatekills .

I was just wondering what you all thought really  :) We're not looking for a record deal or anything just yet so no harsh comments please.

In my opinion the best comedy to come out of bbc3, The Mighty Boosh.

Me and Amy are going to see them live in cardiff in a months time and really can't wait. Are there any other boosh fans in the forum? I know Cam watches it in Australia so i guess it's broadcasted in other places than the UK.

If you ever have the chance to catch an episode then go for it, you won't be dissapointed.

General Discussion / domains for one pound.
Thu 02/03/2006 19:28:38
No really, 1GBP. Sign up at the site, pay via paypal and you'll be given a username and pass via email and then you get the domain. No strings attached.

www.domains-at-1pound.co.uk

I ordered two domains and was a bit stumped on logging in. The login on their site wouldn't work and i didnt know why. But i finally got through to someone after two days of trying and it turns out this is the url to login:

www.domains-at-1pound.co.uk/cpanel

seriously, there's no catch. They also offer hosting with the domain for something like 6GBP.

Hope it comes in useful.

*edit*

HAHA! Turns out for your pound you also get hosting and ftp!

General Discussion / Myspace and overlays?
Tue 28/02/2006 00:19:51
Okay so i'm a pathetic coder. I barely know html let alone css and as for php pah!

I'm looking to edit my myspace profile, but i don't want to use the usual myspace gen crap where it changes background colour etc. I want to make an overlay.

Now i have this .htm file

http://www.hotspots-place.co.uk/CODE.htm

which links to all the right places on my myspace profile and i basicly want to overlay ( think it's called) it over the top of my current profile. Hiding all the default comments and about me crap.

I understand it's quite a hard job but i honestly don't have a clue how hard. Any help from the forum members would be greatly apreciated.

cheers,
