Woot, i'm back.

I got myself a canon Powershot A530 with a free £20 case! It seems to be pretty open as to what it can do with lots of manual settings which i don't have the first clue how to use :)

I'm going to review the 'advanced manual' and go up the hill to take some pictures tonight, should have some online by 11 GMT.

And your photo's are really cool too Eigen! Some nice desktops there.

Thanks for the ace replies guys! I'll look into the camera's you sugested, and the comments about working as a photographer are really inspiring. I couldn't care less about money to be honest, aslong as i can get along with a family.

I'm at a really open part of my life at the moment, ive almost got a btec under my belt, its my 18th in a few days time and it feels i can do whatever i want with my life.

I'll be sure to get some photo's up once i've got my camera, might be going down to get one tommorow. I'll see whats on offer. Oh and i'm most certainly getting a digital, i couldn't do without photoshop.

fun times :)

*edit

I noticed this camera in the shop when looking yesterday, half price seems like a good deal?

Howdy,

I've got a lot of spare cash floating around and i want to buy myself a birthday present so i'm looking to start photography. Now i've got this terrible habbit where i won't keep at anything unless i think it's going to benifit me somewhere in the future.

Now i believe i've got quite a keen eye for photograhy, i've studied art for three years on different levels and i'd like to think that that would help. But i'm not really sure where to start. Obviously the work that LGM does is quite amazing and very inspiring so i've got myself a role model to look up to already i just need some pointers of where to start.

I've yet to buy myself a camera and i've got a budget of around £200 but im not looking to spend all of that if i can help it. So i would apreciate some help buying a camera, i'm guessing that my best option is to go with one that you can fiddle around with the settings yourself (exposure etc). And after that any pointers of where to start would be apreciated too. Oh, and to add that that all do you think that photography is a good career to look into? I'm looking at my options for uni, also to what extent does photograhy have a part in graphic web design? As a graphic designer would you be asked to take your own photo's?

Thanks for reading, hope i can get some pointersÃ,  :)

General Discussion / Re: World Cup 2006

Football is pathetic. I hate living in England during the world cup. Too many pissed up twats roaming the streets shouting abuse at anyone without an england top on and ranting about how their team are going to win the cup. Face it, we're shit. I hope England loose.

General Discussion / Re: Cancer(?)
Tue 30/05/2006 10:05:13
Lost my dad to cancer when i was seven and my mum's been in residential care for almost two years now after having two brain tumor's and three strokes. There's not much i can say really apart from if any of you guys need someone to talk to just message me or hit me up on msn. I'm always up for a chat.

I have quite a hard hearted approach to these things. I've had numerous doctors trying to break the 'big news' to me that it's more than likely I'll get cancer because both of my parents have but in my look on things, if you get to it before it's had a chance to grow, no matter where it is then it can lead to a 100% recovery.

I remember a poem about cancer cells (i believe it was simple titled 'cancer cells') which helped my mum keep thinking positive, it might be worth finding it on the net and giving your girlfriend a print off Andail.

My condolences to everyone.

I bought a 360.

Sorry, my 2.0 AMD will have to do.

So i've been shopping round for the best parts to keep to my budget and i think i've landed on a nice system that'll be running the new releases for a good couple of years.

Take a look:

Processor

Pentium D 805 Dual Core 64 bit LGA 775 2 x 2.66 GHz

Ã,  £86.07

Cheap motherboard, with full support for components

Asus P5VD1-X SKT775 PT880 1066FSB AGP and PCI-E VGA slots

Ã,  £37.46

RAM

2x512 ddr400 pc3200 (this'll do for the mean time, the motherboard has support for two more sticks)

£60.08

Harddrive

Maxtor 6V200E0 200GB SATA300 7200rpm

£49.94

Optical Device

LG GSA-H10ABAL 16xDVDRW/RAM Internal Black (cheap, and better than my 32x cdrw)

£25.84

So that's £264.89 overall, and then i've got the choice of getting myself a pimp little case to go with it aswell. I apreciate there's no graphics card there, i'll be running my agp card untill the next pay cheque comes through and i can get myself a PCI express card.

I apreciate there's a few other bits i may need, such as a usb card (stupid cheap mobo doesnt have any usb ports) but these can be picked up in town.

What do you think, is it a reasonable system? Or for the same amount of money should i get myself a 360?

Love them! They scream professionalism.

I think we've all seen that before, what ever happened to using sprites made for the jam 'eh?

Chicky, it's a da Vinci drawing.

I know Steve... But in comparison to the proper Vitruvian it looks a lot more like he is hanging from something rather than standing.

I duno, it was just my first impression.

Now that's what i was thinking, why run a 640 res when the background is small enough to fit 320.
