Play as Arrabella, lost and scared in a world not all that different from our own.

My second MAGS game this year, this time i've tried to make something more traditional.

Controls:

Arrow Keys: Move
Space: Interact
Esc: Menu

Due to time constraints I haven't been able to test this as much as I would like, the sound design is pretty rushed to meet the deadline but I hope you'll enjoy it :)

Please note: Some users are experiencing issues with lag on the first playable screen, I'm not sure where the rules stand on me fixing this before voting is over. Hopefully it doesn't ruin the experience too much!

Good to hear Stu, last night was crazy stressful and I ended up going to work with only 4 hours sleep.(two less than my regular 6 this past month!)

I'll find a way to fix the restore game GUI and update with a screenshot when I get home.

Looking forward to playing everyone's entries!

Personally I think with the amount of work it takes to make an entry in one month, a few minor usability tweaks after the game has already been submitted would be fine. But that's just my opinion, rules are rules :p

Besides, it sounds like everyone's games are a bit buggy :D

I'm so psyched to finally have free time again. I'll do a GiP thread and proper announcement after work tonight. Well done everyone :)

I'm happy to play by dem rules, although I have to go to sleep now so i'll have to live with my bugs for the time being :P

I think the restore game gui is broken in the version above, also spotted a few annoying visual glitches. Are we allowed to fix those sort of things after submitting? Maybe, maybe not? :-D

I've finished! I'm uploading now whilst doing a final playthrough. Eeeeeeek!

finishing this game has been quite the trick.
Only 13 hours left and and much to implement, I'll be leaving work early with a fierce intent.

Hey dude, thanks for the kind words :)

I'm not much of a programmer so all of the effects were composited in Adobe After Effects, this soon became a massive pain when I ended up with a painfully long list of rooms. I think if you were using Unity or similar you would use a graphics shader to warp the screen and then overlays for the static/glitches etc. In Bitstream's case each 'screen' is a static AGS background with the warped text built in, then all the glitches are room specific pre-made views to run at the appropriate places, a semi transparent static overlay is used to tie it all together.

Now seems a good opportunity to say thanks to Cat for picking Bitstream as the AGS game of the month! It inspired me to enter MAGS this month and I'm now a few days away from having another game for you all to play :)

That title screen is amazing Eggie, reminds me of Hylics but with a hydro Sarlacc pit. The screenshot you shared looked equally as awesome.

I'm back home now, final to-do list is finished and it's loooooooong. I've definitely made the game too long.

Also I genuinely scared myself at the weekend, mistyped a room number somewhere and ended up walking earlier areas but with a creepy overlay and eerie music from later in the game, totally caught me off guard.

Working away from home, 13 hours a day, never alone. No time to work on my game, such a pain, mega lame. But I'll be home tonight and to my delight, I have tomorrow booked off.

Is it bad that I'm getting sick of writing in rhymes? Good luck for these precious last days all :)

Looks fab Mandle, I especially like the handle!

I've been meaning to say...

I live near a lot of Military bases, they're certainly quite peculiar places.
Some of them have the strangest of sounds, one's that can be heard from miles around.
So the other day I recorded their siren, to muffle the sound where the monsters are hiding.

I've played a few hours but not had a chance to get stuck in yet, all my free time is getting sunk into MAGS this month, Fallout 4 makes for a good incentive to get finished early :)
