If I say yes, will my ambitions regress?
If I turn blind eyes, will another arise?
I find myself suffocating in thought,
a little distraught,
so far from the goal I have often sought.
A monster you say?
I've one inside.
Still beating and still alive.
Still waiting for her moment to rise.

My vice is your anchor.
Just be sure to thank her.

Thanks for the lovely comments cat, tsa and visionmind :) I'm really happy you all liked the atmosphere I was trying to achieve, it seems to have worked ;-D cat, that clicky keyboard was practically MADE for this game!

Happy to see people consider the game a unique experience, i'll be building on the concept and re-releasing something in 2016, a v0.2 so to speak.

Good to hear from you Atelier :)

Thanks to everyone who voted! I thought i'd won for sure before vertigoaddict snapped up those last two votes, I was really impressed by the length of your entry vertigoaddict :)

We will have to think of a super interesting topic together, two minds means twice the awesome, right? ;)

Also a big congratulations to WHAM and Grok for finishing their entries and creating two great games in just four weeks!

Atelier seems to be AWOL :P

I believe voting was meant to close on the 20th, do we have a backup plan?

I loved this Cuiki, my favourite of the orowc games. There was something about the immediacy of the interactions/navigation and the lovely facial expression that really had me hooked from the start. Looking forward to the upcoming larger story :)

Selmiak, Mandle and Cassiebg: Thanks for playing!

Cassiebg: I'm sorry to hear the letters were too dark, this was something I was worried about for some players but I had already exported all the assets for that puzzle! I'll take this on board for any future updates :)

Selmiak: Glad you had a go, perfect setting for playing aswell - I was hoping people would play fullscreen (screen edges are ablsoloute black to fit in with the bars you will see on a 16:9 monitor).

Mandle: You've definitely got what I was going for, I really appreciate your enthusiasm towards this release. The ending is up for interpretation but you have pretty much hit the nail on the head for what I had in mind.

Has anyone else played? I would love to hear your thoughts! :)

So yeah...This summer's MAGs theme is DROWNING...

Interpret this theme any way you like:

Literal drowning, saving someone from drowning, drowning in paperwork, feeling like you are drowning in a relationship...etc.

I went with 'drowning in the Bitstream' or put more simply, drowning in data. I wanted to give the player a similar feeling to drowning in the ocean - claustrophobia, helplessness, loss of navigational bearing, lack of sound par your own body and breathing apparatus.

Bulbapuck: Thank you for playing! I'm really happy with the response this is getting :)

I wish I could have made it longer and judging on the response so far I most likely will, I'd loved to have added more after Terminal 2 but time did not permit. I'm a little shocked at how two of you have mentioned the word 'best', it's too short for that but this does make me want to release more things :)

I have had a report of a text entry GUI that doesn't disappear when changing rooms under certain circumstance so I'll be updating the download link tonight with this fix.

Can't wait to watch those let's Plays Bulba! :D

Thanks for the lovely comments :)

AprilSkies: I'm really happy you liked the game, it sounds like you *got* what I was trying to achieve, thanks for the kind words and smile you put on my face yesterday. Although best AGS game? Heh, not sure what to say to that :P

Cassiebg: If you need a little advice to point you in the right direction just drop me a PM :)

Dualnames: Thanks for an awesome write up! I was worried that I was being a little too vague when presenting the player with nothing but a login screen but it seems this wasn't the confusing part for most. I really didn't want to break immersion so having any kind of pop-up message explaining the controls/concept was a no-no, glad you liked what I was trying to achieve. I agree completely about the upper/lowercase thing, wanted to implement it but ran out of time. The next update will include some bug, typo and typing fixes, If there is enough interest I'll release a 'deluxe' edition with some of the cut content I wanted add but didn't have time.

Funny you should mention Kojima, MGS's menu vibe and the ending of Sons of Liberty were an influence :)

Stupot: Thanks for your initial thoughts and compliment, keep trying, there are imaginary people to save! (Also happy to give hints)

Not a bad reception so far, if a little controversial (laugh)

Hey Cuiki, that is indeed where it ends, there should be some credits too! I would have liked to expand the game further but this was the best I could manage in an otherwise super busy month :)

You're the first person who has confirmed completion, thanks for playing and the kind words :D

I tried to keep the sprite count to a minimum but alas, the thing is indeed a bit of a monster. Sorry about that, it was the trade off for the CRT warp and glitchy bits of animation.

Here's my entry link to GIP forum. Yay!

It was great fun and feels pretty awesome to finally have a game out there that I can be proud of :)

Hack your way through complex folder structures in an attempt to bring down a mysterious organization,
set in a hostile world where the vast majority of it's inhabitants are completely reliant on respiratory breathing aids.

Created for the August 2015 MAGS competition.

The game has permadeath, but it's (hopefully) not too annoying. :P

I'm done! Totally super really definitely done!

Will get a beta out tomorrow at midday, if anyone wants to help test I would need reports in before the day is up (nod)

But otherwise, I will release and hope that there aren't any major errors in any of the 82 rooms (laugh)

It's been great seeing all your updates on this Pyke and a big congrats for the final release, Stasis hits all the marks for me in the art department. Super creepy. Do stick around!

Although I believe your thread will be moved :P

MY BRAIN HURTS >:(

But i'm -almost- done! 67 rooms SO MANY FOLDERS o_o

Good luck on the testing WHAM :) I probably have more bugs than Australia.

*Edit: Game is now fully playable from start to finish! Now to bug hunt and add some missing sound effects.

My first proper MAGS entry :-D

A delay on MGSV at this point would actually be appreciated, something I thought I would never say! The crunch is on, I have Relentless Tropical Juiced and was up until 5am last night. I may have wasted an hour playing Rocket League, but we won't talk of that.

...and I still don't have an ending to my game. (roll)

Hey LostTrainDude, awesome stuff. Just what I was looking for, Lost Pinjacks would be fit the part nicely if you could send me that? :) I've dropped you a PM with my email.

I love this forum, thanks again LTD.

Howdy!

I'm looking for a musician who has a (preferably pre-existing) chiptune/keygen style track, for use in my MAGS entry for this month's competition. The game is based around hacking on a 4:3 CRT monitor.

I'm after something that you would expect to hear playing on a software keygen. The deadline for MAGS entry is the 5th September so i'll need the track before then - the sooner the better! :)

The main backing music has already been created by another musician, but this track is very ambient and intentionally different in tone to the track that you will provide. I would imagine your track to stand out and ooze with funky vibes for the scenes that it will be used.

Here's an example of what i'm looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9STiQ8cCIo0

This is an unpaid offer, I'll feature your name and website link in the game's credits sequence, which will also be on a CRT monitor ;)

Feel free to reply here or PM.

Eek! I leave you guys for one week and come back to two finished fully playable entries, jeepers!

I'm back from sunny Norfolk (after a 6 hour drive) and now have two full days free before the release of Metal Gear Solid V, this game could be disastrous for my productivity so looks like i'm stuck here the next 48 hours try to finish my entry. Someone pass me the cola and potato crisps, i'm going in!

Congrats on finishing early Grok and sounds like your entry is in the bag too WHAM, psyched to play the competition :) That title looks beautiful PlayPretend.
