Booking this week off work was a terrible idea! I've been glued to it all day, not quite confident enough to invest in the stock market yet :-D

I did however run out of cheese straws and wine, now fully restocked and back in the game.

I remember reading somewhere that the clans carry over, rockstar stated it fairly early on if I'm not mistaken.

I just picked up my copy, even the police turned up for the midnight launch, it was all very convincing! :p

It was nice to see you guys on Joystiq today :) Congratulations!

Looks fine on my monitor, but i'm in the boat as Shane. I ran into a similar predicament recently and ended up dropping in another midtone, might be worth considering.

A lovely background though, the pixels are very tidy, just the right amount of dithering to give it that weathered look. I'm interested to see how you implement characters.

Icey, here's an idea. Have you thought about putting -everything- you've drawn over these past years into one single project? You could make an immensely expansive world, one that i'm sure the community would love to explore.

You have a unique art style which is consistent throughout your work, it's just a shame you feel the need to work on eight things at once. You may have to re-jig story and puzzle design but i think there's merit in the idea.

You could even call it Penultimate Pub Master Quest Gambit VII, if you wanted.

Who needs an inventory anyway! those things are so 80's :-D

Alaskaban, i would suggest you reconsider posting the code. it may be helpful for others to learn from.

Very well written and the animations were fun! *slap*

Certainly not too many colours! The roof tiles could be defined a little more, if you don't want solid lines try using a mid colour that is somewhere between the line colour and the base tile shade, to fill in the gaps.

You could do with a little anti-alias to smooth those diagonal lines where the floor meets the wall, take the wall colour and set the opacity to 50%, draw a pixel on the floor and use that colour to line the edges (avoiding double pixels). I would suggest using a dark brown for the edges of the window frames, always avoid using black (or near black) for shadows. I find it best to lay down the shape with mid tones first, leaving yourself plenty of room either way to add shadows/highlights.

Otherwise a very tidy background, keep it up!

Hi Daz, i'm not normally a fan of pre-rendered adventures but that preview was very well put together. Absolutely screaming with atmosphere thanks to the sound design and the parallax effect works really well. Keep it up!

Commendable but the old boy needs to learn to anti-alias :D

Oh, by obsessive focus on realism and neglect to include anything "fun", you mean unique mechanics that set it apart from the crowd and a true-to-detail experience. Okay. At least it wasn't fuckin Minecraft.

But what if i want to walk around the station in nothing but a towel? Now that would be a unique mechanic! In all fairness it's been quite some time since i've played any of them, so i'm happy to take your word on their credibility.

I'm not sure i get the Minecraft comment? The voxel sandbox idea may have been around long before Notch, but he made a damn good stab at it!

He does indeed have a rather badass moustache!

I think the main problem with the Police Quest games (from what i remember) was the obsessive focus on realism and subsequent neglect to include anything fun. Paperwork is never fun, even in a video game! I remember a lot of walking, talking and failure.

Running the cursor around scenery must be a pretty common pastime between adventure gamers :)

Hey, Jim Walls sent me a friend request on Facebook! How cool is that?;)

I'm secretly hoping Ron Gilbert is next;)

Probably looking for some advice on how to make a game that doesn't suck :=
