really good dragon, you can really see the manga/anime style in your pics. Are you gunna add some of the more 'adult' anime in your game aswell lol

The backgrounds are 640x480 yeh, so isnt the character a little small for those backgrounds. Other than that great art keep it up, oh and flash kicks ass yes ... but dont re-do the bg's in flash you'll lose your unique style. ;D

Yo, if your using MrColossal's technique with an animated object then the jigginess is probally because ALL YOUR ANIMATION IMAGES ARN'T THE SAME SIZE all images in an animation need to be the same size, otherwise it will jig.

This is kinda hard to explain,

shading.     for each side of walls you want it to be slightly darker/lighter than the last. The bendy light you have on the wall is really good judt make it a bit more prominant, make it darker.

layout.       I think the forground lampost? needs to be more round and could do with a glass case for the light. As for the crossing light do some more shading on the light and add a metal case for the bottom of the glass, also make the button smaller and shade it.  

Last thing, the two 'e's' and the 'r' on derks need the horizontal lines to be inline with the top of the 'I' in discount.

Thats it ! it might seem like a lot but its mainly just shading/ adding detail to the bits you've rushed.

Well a possesed chicken ... that can kinda communicate ... and can cast spells.  

This is my idea for the game im working on, i dont want to give to much away but you have been ordered by your boss to posess a chicken so that you can carry out his *evil* deeds.    

And your boss just happens to be satan   ;D

just trying to make convasation really i havent posted in a while, so how would you feel about being a chicken?

About your question for choosing the right backgrouns colours

well ... a while ago i had the problem that all my backgrouds seemed darker on other peoples computers, its kinda off topic but this is where psp came in handy. A lot of art programs have the option to edit light colour gama ect this is somthing that paint misses it can be very handy. Also on psp you can edit poppeted colours which paint lacks.

to your question, i find it handy to take a print screen ( the button on your keyboard that says prt sc) of a game that i really like and compare the colours of buildings ect. i use block colours for the main buildings then out line them in a darker version of the colour.

If your still stuck here's a wise word some AGS'er said to me once 'try searching images google for sam and max for some ideas of how to draw that style'. so if your looking for cartooney style try 'sam and max' or 'day of the tentacle' and if you want serious style try 'indiana jones and the fate of atlantis' or 'beneath a steel sky'.

hope this novel  ;D helps a little and keep with AGS.

i see what you mean,

at the moment im working on a comey but it has a lot of desperation in it. Just as your about to complete your goal (finish the game) along comes the 'bad guy' and ruins it for you. I really want a fell of character in my game so the player really gets involved in the whole affair. So i just thought id post err ... yeh

nice one!

wow i got a lot more reply's than i expected , i mainly use mspaint for building structures (bendy line tool kicks a$$) but the magic wand tool (psp) i find very usefull for filling block colours. Also its really useful that you can edit colours picked up with the popett on psp.

i've recently been playing games like search for sanity and aprentice, now seaarch for santy is obviously hand painted backgrounds but aprentice has really professional like backgrounds but it looks like they're computerdrawn. How do i get such a nice effect on my backgrounds which looks so damn professional.

Hi all,

just wondering how many people use ms paint for their art in their games. Personally i do and my friends think my art is great , but what really is the advantage of using say psp for backgrounds?

 :o nice character , it looks really great.  The only problem i can think of is that wont all these high res graphics bulk up the file size like hell? Im working at 640/480 for my game and thats pretty big,  but surley you will need even higher res for these characters too look good ahh well keep it up

HI all

Im considering a new concept for my game's caracters ... Plastercine! I will pose the characters i their frames and the take a shot of it with my camera. Once i have uploaded and cropped the image i will put it into AGS.

More to the point, my question is : will this work with 640 480 resolation and will it look any good?

Obviosly Monkey Island, and i totally agree with you there Peaceman thats the whole reason why i come to AGS. But when i say looks sweet i mean the gameplay, look at all the thing that are going on at once :o, the things that you can do :o, the AI, thats what i mean.   Its Sweet

Com'on Halo2 looks sweet, understandably it doe'nt live up to any thing lucas Arts made but it still looks realy good. i cant wait to get it. Then again more AGS related: What time is it, looks like it is shaping up to be the best AGS game around.

And whats wrong with being a chicken?

Yeh different facial expressions would look great ;D, like this  ::) you see you nee them because you cant animate any body language with a blob so facial is what you need.
