Great to hear that this is (very almost) finished, I bet Nancy's occupational benefits helped you reach that climax so quickly, eh Technocrat :P

Oh and the lighting in that exterior screenshot is spot on!

Half-Life 3 is coming, Valve are just waiting for the right time. Half-Life 3 has to be one of the most anticipated sequels in video game history. Hl2 turned 3D gaming on it's head and was a good 5 years ahead of it's time. What do people expect from HL3? They expect the impossible... Photoreal? ARG? VR? Freeman on my freakin' doorstep? If anyone's going to do it it's Gaben.

There is FAR FAR too much community support for Valve and their games, they won't give up and they wont disappoint. We just have to give them time, my money's on a virtual reality console that looks like a HEV suit.  :=

Oh and yes, massive Valve fanboy here.

P.S. - Not a big fan of the episodes, I choose to deny the existance of episode 3 and it's impact on HL3 development.

What a great looking project! Some lovely screenshots, you've really nailed the atmosphere  (nod) Best of luck with this!

This looks great DazJ, the character fits in nicely! Do you have different renders for the changes in lighting?

Great work so far! The dusty old forums now look very tidy.

I noticed that there is very little (maybe zero?) spacing between characters on the board information box. It becomes fairly hard to read on higher resolutions:

Might just be me, Chrome on Mac.

Everything else is ace (nod) My avatar is now a little slower with twice the pixels!

The Rumpus Room / So... AGS at work? *Shhh!*
Mon 23/04/2012 15:38:00
So i've recently started a new job, it really couldn't be better! I'm working in my chosen field (media) and everyone is super nice. I've found the job to have certain indisclosed perks, one of which is the killer 3G connection that this town has, my phone browsing is almost as quick as my home Internet connection!

So today I find myself with nothing to do and the whole AGS forums in my pocket. I -want- to spam every thread with Chicky nonsense, but I'll contain myself.

So, anyone else find themselves on the forums at work? I only wish I had my game plan handy so I could work on that :P

A lot of detail is lost in some of these, remember to keep the colour count low!

Bwana, for example - cool sprite but is a little hard to make out if you don't get the reference. I guess some characters lend themselves better towards uber low res than others.

The Roger smileys are very functional, they're easily read without zooming in. I think this is the standard we should aim to achieve with any new smileys.

The Java and quicktime prompts are a bit shit.

Indeed, dark times for British casual gamers. I remember some ten years ago, before the mass 'Game' store outbreak there were a lot more independent game stores. Hopefully they'll be on the rise as they usually stock retro consoles and games.

Grim: I plan on picking it up from Tesco, the 24hr stores usually restock the game shelves at midnight.

I went back to Game for some bankruptcy bargains and there was only one copy left, reduced to £12.99  :=

So i snapped it up, didn't realise that it came with an awesome poster! Makes a brilliant motivational poster, sure beats the typical 'hang in there'.

I need more boxed AGS games.

This looks beautiful, I'm in love with the tree background.

anain: Thanks for the kind words, I keep telling myself that it's just my body playing minesweeper, and the game'll be over soon.

Bici: You see what I did there?  := It actually didn't occur to me until I started typing.

Arj0n: Thanks, but that could take a while!

Tabata: I win, I have more face pox. Talking of company, it sucks pretty bad because I live alone and can hardly go out for supplies,  I've lost my appetite anyways.

Stupot: Thanks man, very kind words  :) It's been pretty hard, bit of a shock to my usual life.

Anyway, I won't steal the thread any longer. Consider my question answered :)

Chicky has chicken pox D:

It's the most annoying illness of my adult life.

Fix me? You said you could help!

Edit: Worth noting that i have consulted a doctor and am not actually looking for a cure on the AGS forums, more of a plea for sympathy  :=

Yoke!!

You left me fucking heartbroken!  :'(

Man, we clocked some serious hours chatting on MSN. I genuinely thought you were dead, or locked up, or with the FBI.

Did you get any of my (slightly obsessive) emails?

Who cares, Yoke is back!! 2.0 baby! := Seven years? My brain hurts.

Hah, yes! The left copy was originally behind the right one, clever eh? Had there been more copies the entire shelf would scream rue!
