I've sent you the remaining money I owed you, Berian.

I've considered going to Brussels for a day or so earlier. I've not been to either Paris or Brussels, but I figure one day might be enough in Brussels while I'd rather spend a few more if I went to Paris.

It would be fun to meet up, Andail.

I've looked at some flights and I'm not sure what would be preferable for getting to the chateau. Going to the main airport in Brussels is rather cheap for me, departing from Gothenburg, only 1500 sek. But from what I've heard it's difficult to get from there to Vireux. I suppose it might be easy to go to the main Brussels airport and on to Charleroi and from there to Vireux. Anyone have more info on this?

Getting to Charleroi using RyanAir is a mess, I'd have to go to Glasgow or something and from there to Charleroi and I'd have to spend a night in Glasgow if I chose that option.

I'll be there. Creed owes me some money that he's going to pay you, Berian. If you havn't received the money from him by then I'll give you the money myself.

General Discussion / Re: Diary of the Dead

Did any of you see the Grapes of Death? It's a french zombie-flick from 1978 about the owner of a vineyard spraying the fields with some pretty bad stuff and the local population turns into zombies. It might sound really (and is, fairly) silly. But it's rather well done and very entertaining too. If you can find it, go for it.

If there is room (or if there will be if anyone else drops out), count me in.

I honestly don't know what to think about making games nowadays. I still think about what might be fun to do and how to do it. The problem is I hate to scale things down. Things always get too ambitious. Another problem is that I don't spend as much time on the computer nowadays. Previously I could spend entire days just working on a game which is probably not something I would do today. Even then I never really got close to finishing either of the more ambitious projects. Since Revenants I've planned several games and made tools to help make those games in MMF, but after loads of work making those tools I just don't have enough energy left to make any actual content.

I guess I'll probably think of something that I can pull off. Eventually.

Regarding releasing old unfinished games. There isn't much worth showing of The Asylum. I still want to make Revenants in some way though, even if I do have to scale it down. I'm not letting go of that.

As for Calsoon. That game was made in one week as a joke for a friend. Calsoon+ wouldn't really be worth releasing. The few very minor changes would still make it the same crummy game.

I still own the gaspop domain. However, since I just wasn't making anything new for a long time and since the index kept getting hacked I just threw up a blank index until I have something new worth showing.

Nacho, perhaps. Havn't read the DaVinci Code. I'm mostly interested in going since Gabriel Knight 3 takes place in Rennes Le Chateau and it seemed like a nice location.

I'd love to go to Rennes-Le-Chateau, or at least somewhere near so you can visit it for a day or something. That's almost as far south as you can get. Could be expensive though, both traveling and staying.

I'm interested in both France and Miami though.

There are at least 5 self-titled albums in there! Most have been guessed by now though.
#312
Hehe, all are correct so far. I'm surprised you didn't spot the other obvious ones though!

Nice list, evenwolf! Many of those are among my favourite artists.

Threw together a folder of some of my past and current favourite albums (still like 'em all though). If someone could name the artist behind each album without looking I'd be very impressed!

Song: Myrrhman by Talk Talk

Comments: Not a fan of post-rock, but I love Talk Talk's experimenting in that genre. Much more quiet and subtle compared to most other acts I've heard. The song brings on images that appeal very much to me, a bit like Tom Waits' "9th & Hennepin" story.

How I discovered it: Nothing special, I'd gotten lots of recommendations for the album "Laughing Stock" and ended up buying it. Sadly they disbanded after this album, though Mark Hollis (frontman) released a solo album some years later which is supposed to be as good as the last two albums of Talk Talk.

Fun fact: Talk Talk started out as a 80's synth-pop band and then suddenly went from that to experimental post-rock.

Song: The Bogus Man by Roxy Music

Comments: Forget about Love Is The Drug and More Than This (though I guess I like those as well :P ) Roxy Music peak  way above that. This 9-minute gem of a jam can be found on their awesome second album "For Your Pleasure" (when Brian Eno was still in the band). The creepy music matches the great (and slightly cheesy ("The Bogus Man is on his way, as fast as he can run. He's tired but he'll get to you, and shoot you with his gun") ) lyrics perfectly. Great performances by all. Nice treatments by Eno. However, Ferry's vocals is what I like most about it.
How I discovered it: I first heard, or rather, listened to Roxy Music when an old live performance was shown on TV here.

Fun fact: I've heard of the boogie man but what the hell is a bogus man? Bogus, dude!

Song: Kentucky Avenue by Tom Waits

Comments: One of my favourite Waits-songs. From the album 'Blue Valentine' my favourite of the albums he recorded pre-Swordfishtrombones. It's a sweet, funny and very moving song. Waits' wonderful vocals are backed by a simple piano line being repeated to great effect. It brings back pleasant memories of growing up even though I don't exactly share those of the narrator in the song. I guess it treasures those kind of memories in general.

How I discovered it: Nothing special about it, always meant to check out the album since I liked all the songs from it that was on a Waits' compilation.

Fun fact: Judging by this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLAV_rhoQ0s , I wonder if Waits is just in-character all along or if it really is based on his own childhood. Either way, I prefer the album version to the live recording in that video.

Song: The Jungle Line by Joni Mitchell

Comments: Tribal drums and a C64-ish sounding synthesizer dominate this awesome song.

How I discovered it: A friend played me a few songs by Joni Mitchell. I liked what I heard, so I looked her up on allmusic.com and bought 'The Hissing of Summer Lawns', which seemed like the most interesting album to me (also the wonderful album cover appealed to me). The Jungle Line is the second song and it surprised me since it didn't sound anything like what my friend had me listen to (and it doesn't sound like anything else of hers I've listened to since).

Fun fact: At the time it was probably a very unique recording (1975), mixing african drums with rock like that. It reminded me of what I'd heard by Björk when I first heard it.

I sent some money for the cabin, but I havn't heard from Quintaros if he got it or not. Biggest problem for me is I have to be home here in Sweden on the 23rd of July. Earlier or later would be fine.

I'd like to go. I've got the money and I've got the time.
