If you liked Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers,   you might like Peter Weir's The Last Wave.

Money's not an issue for me. I can't ask for time off work this early, well I could, but I'd get no for an answer. I might sign up and just hope I'll be allowed to go. But it'd be a huge bummer if I'm denied time off that week

I have made plans already for a week or so before Mittens and then again just a few days after, I was hoping I'd be able to stay an extra week in Canada, but it doesn't look like it'll happen. I'd still like to come for that one week though.

Hmm, unless I'm mistaken, there's something hidden nearby that will get you inside the farmhouse.

I loved this game too.

Jockey full of bourbon also opens Down By Law, a truly excellent film. Waits himself also stars. I love (most) Jarmusch movies.

I was introduced to Waits by eric (The excellent 'I'll be gone' was the song, Bone Machine was the first album I got) It's been a while since I listened to Waits. I did enjoy his last album 'Real Gone' all the way through but for some reason it's not as memorable as some of my favourite albums of his. Looking forward to the hearing the Orphans-set. From what I understand it's a bunch of old covers, songs from soundtracks and some songs that he wrote long ago but didn't record until now.

Swordfishtrombones is my favourite but if I had to pick one it'd be Rain Dogs, simply because it's all great and it's got even more of the good stuff. Frank's Wild Years is also great, as is Bone Machine. He hasn't released anything since then that has appealed to me as much, but I do find Alice, Blood Money and Real Gone to be great albums. Don't care much for Mule Variations.

Don't like pre-Swordfish-Waits as much, but I do enjoy that as well even though I only own The Heart of Saturday Night (The Ghosts of Saturday Night is one of my favourite songs of his) and the Used Songs compilation.

I'd love to see him perform live though he doesn't tour often nor for very long.

I love the art and the first comic was great though it would perhaps work even better had Lucius not said anything, instead just wearing that look on his face.

I think the third comic would be much funnier had it just ended with the second to last panel. It is as though the punchline is him calling her a silly bitch. The slapstick alone would work great as end to that lengthy buildup.

Unless some great tragedy occurs I promise I'll be there. Sounds like a great place. If you do have the possibility to check the place out personally before we decide on anything it'd be great.

Ah, Elvira and Waxworks. I love those games so much. Elvira 2 I have never finished. Terrible music and very difficult. Though honestly I haven't really made an effort to sit down and actually try finishing it. I just wandered around exploring. As said it is necessary to map. Funny how I didn't mind this at all years ago, it was made part of the gameplay.

I didn't know the graphics in PC-Elvira were scaled down, I think they look excellent as they are. I'd try the Amiga version but the disk swapping is so frustrating.

Waxworks is my favourite of the three. Also, personally I think those death scenes are far more horrifying than those in Elvira. I first tried playing it when it came out and couldn't because it was too much. I tried again a few years later and now I love it. The Mine "chapter" is my favourite. To me it's the most tensely atmospheric part of any horror game out there. You really don't want to go on deeper into that mine.

So yes, I strongly recommend these games. You can buy the HorrorPack at AdventureSoft's website.

There is also their first game, Personal Nightmare, which is a real-time adventure set in a small village. It seems very nice and atmospheric though the Underdogs version crashes too often. It is also available for Atari and Amiga with better graphics, but gah! the disc-swapping!

Haha, well done, Nacho.

Nice collection of photos too!

Where do you have to be and at what time of year to find this type of scenery, Quintaros? Because seeing this with my own eyes is far up on my list of things to do before I die.

That reminds me, m0ds. The story you told me about the bartender and your sunglasses, here's the comic I was talking about:

I am also back. I enjoyed it very much. Sorry I didn't say goodbye to anyone but Helm, but I didn't want to wake anyone up.

Nacho & Lorena, thank you very much for organizing it! I'll assume Goldmund gave you the money I gave him to give you for the camping costs.
#333
Ok, I guess that's everyone. I'll send a PM with the list immediatley.
#334
It's probably mark ->at<- screen7.co.uk ;)

Edit: oops :P
#335
Just so you know, I'll pm everyone who's going with the list once I've collected as many as I can. This to keep the numbers private from everyone on the board as Nacho suggested. If you want to share your number with the rest of the mitteneers just pm it to me (or if you don't mind, just post it in this thread).
#336
Perhaps it would be wise to gather everyones numbers again like we did last year? I don't have the numbers anymore even though I was the one who gathered them last year!

Evil jellyfish... the only thing worse are wasps. Funerals, weddings and going to the dentist are close behind.

Someone is going to die at those cliffs, don't trust these two!

So will you be at this year's Mittens as you promised?
#338
I really liked it as well. Alot of people would probably wonder why you were remaking it. Wasn't it generally well recieved when it was first released?
#339
I'd like to make a request to visit the cliffs by the sea in Benidorm. I've been told by people who've been there that they're very nice. Is it easy to get there?

I still feel guilty about everyone missing the 17.30 bus because of me. But I think we should be prepared to catch it because chances are the plane might be a few minutes early and provided I get my bag from the luggage-retriever thingamajig fast enough we might be able to make it. Also, I wouldn't mind if people didn't want to miss that bus just because of me, but I would appreciate it if at least someone would stay just to help find the way to the camping site. Unlike Andail, I'm not good at finding my way around foreign places.
