So it's about time to announce the masters of sock art!

I must say, it was quite hard to choose, since all of the entries are well done, but someone has to go home with the trophies so here it comes:

3rd place and the bronze sock goes to cat:

2nd place and the silver sock goes to apl1985:

And the golden sock goes to Tabata for the amazing Booker the bookworm. If I ever find myself in a need a sock puppet, I know where to ask now ;)

I want to thank everyone for participating and making this a fun competition. See you again in the next one!
I'll leave the rest it the capable hands Tabata now...

Since the forum was down, I'll give an extension if anyone wants to submit an entry. If not, I will announce the winners later today.
Very nice entries so far!

There was an adventure game called "Wrong Way, Wally!" that featured a wallaby as the playable character, it was made in AGAST (Adventure Game Authoring System). Don't know if they ever finished it, but they had a playable demo.

Welcome to the forums apl1985 and I'm glad and honored to have your first post in the competition I'm hosting. And both entries are neat so far! Keep them coming!

It's still cold and freezing in many parts of the world, so it's a nice time to look for some warmth that wool socks provide us... and slide on the floor wearing them... Whoops, got a hole in my pair now ::)

Well at least I can make a sock puppet out of it. You guys got any ideas what it should look like?

Draw me a sprite of a sock puppet, doesn't matter if it's a simple sock with buttons as eyes or a big muppet. No size restrictions.

Need some inspiration? Check this video

The deadline is 4th of March.

There's some trophies as well (sorry, the washing machine ate one sock of each pair):

1. Estonia
2. Bensiinijaam (bensiin = petrol, jaam = station) or bensukas in slang
3. Kilometers

Wow, thank you! I think this is my first trophy on the forums. I was hoping for a bit more entries, since it's a neat topic, but 3 entries is better than none I guess. And the other two were nice entries as well. I hope you'll enter the next sprite jam too. I'll post a new topic shortly.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, now I have no idea why I stayed away for so long.

Ah, I did indeed misunderstand. I meant Aardvark by Seimiak, the elephant.

Edit:
Seems that I keep on making mistakes as I have been informed that this is not an elephant, but and ant-eater.

I vote for 5. Yzma by Antipus

Hey peeps!

I'm not really a newbie, but I've been gone so long that I might as well be. Last time I was active on this forum was back in 2008. I had some projects going on with AGS then, but life took some turns and I dropped working on those and coming on these forums altogether. Recently I found one of those projects and I got interested again, so maybe this time I'll manage to finish it. I was never too active here and I doubt anyone actually remembers me, since I didn't leave much of a footprint, but I always liked this community and it's good to see that a lot of the guys I remember are still here. I'll try to be a bit more social this time around and maybe I'll even work together with some of you at some point.

To say a few things about myself - I'm from Estonia, I'm in my late twenties and I work as a web developer. I first got into programming mostly because I wanted to make games, adventure games in particular and it's a dream that I never really let go. I also like producing music and play baseball.

Cheers!

Who's gonna love you when you don't love yourself? :)

I made a short demo game with AGAST about 7 years ago (wow, has it really been that long?). At that time I felt it was the best free adventure engine. I tried AGS as well back then, but found it a bit strange. But then AGAST died out then and I switched to AGS. And of course AGS has come a long way since then and now it's at the moment it's the best game making software I have used.
#34
Just stick with the name you have, I see no real reason to change it when you've used it for that long. And PrimalSpectre does sound a bit silly.
#35
It would be a nice feature. The save game thing also.

I've been also using PSP7 with Pro Motion for some time now, so I agree.
#37
I don't know, I always found the 2.7x AGS too uncomfy and weird, the 3.0x versions are much more convenient to use and I never used the interaction editor anyway so I don't really miss that.
#38
I'd say AGS has it's own unique programming language that is somewhat similar to many others like C or PHP in terms of syntax.

These may or may not be a glitches:
Spoiler

1. I didn't have to use two parts green goo to get my hot air balloon to rise.  I just mixed the two base components then added the coffee then the glitter, mixed and heated.

Spoiler

It's not a glitch. Let's say you have one glass of milk and one glass of water. If you mix them together you won't end up with only one glass of liquid, right?

Is this the sort of game that you can get into a dead-end situation? because I ran into some headaches picking stuff up and trying to juggle items especially the vials. example:
Spoiler
when making the hot air balloon gas, i mixed the formula incorrectly, using two yellows and two blues, I put in the coffee, handed the coffee off to another bot, grabbed the glitter and added that. Since the formula was wrong, nothing happened and I couldn't exchange the glitter for the coffee and the other bot wouldn't put the coffee into the beaker.

Spoiler

You can pick up an empty tube with any bot and the can place the glitter where the other tube was.

Nice game by the way. Good job. Very original.
