Yay! Thanks for the GetPixel function, I did not expect it this soon :)
I'll try to test it later today.

I'm a big fan of pixel art and when it comes to adventure games, I mostly play 320x200 or 320x240 games and very rarely any higher res games. Hand drawn images can be nice, but there's something nostalgic about pixels I just can't seem to shake off.

I guess I'll have to wait for it then and use a non pixel perfect collision detection meanwhile.

I used modplug tracker for a few years, but nowadays there are a lot of better free trackers. I liked Jeskola Buzz the best, but it's not being developed anymore and it was quite unstable, crashing for random reasons all the time.

Advanced Technical Forum / Overlay collision
Tue 19/02/2008 21:40:35
I wanted a pixel perfect collision detection for overlays, so after thinking about it a bit, the only solution I could come up with was that I create create an object off screen or in the same position with the same sprite and use the Object.GetAtScreenXY function on every pixel. Is there a better solution or will this have to do? If I'm not mistaken, you can move/change an object only once per a call of repeatedly_execute, so I would have to make one object for every overlay I have, but since I switched from objects to overlays because of the limit of 50 objects+characters per screen, that would make the change pointless.
Would be nice to have a DrawingSurface.GetPixel function, that'd make something like this a whole lot easier. Though I'm aware it's in the tracker.

Though I discovered a few days ago that there is a limit that is not mentioned in the manual - you can only have up to 50 objects/characters per room. If you have a lot of inventory items plus some other stuff in the room, this might be a problem.

The russians are already calling this a anti-satellite missile test, claiming it's not the first time a satellite becomes unstable and that usually they just burn up in atmosphere. But I wouldn't trust that source, since they've so many false accusations lately :)

Also, there are several ways to download the video from youtube.

I vote for CodeJunkie.

I think proximity just misunderstood how the nominees were chosen, so to be clear about it once again, they were voted by ags community not chosen by a small amount of moderators.

This is probably no help, but I also had trouble with my M-Audio soundcard (not AGS related though), so I bought a second soundcard (the cheapest i could find) for such things. So now they're both in my PC, hooked to differents sets of speakers and I'm happy with the solution. I can do my audio editing with the better soundcard and play games etc. with the other.

One of my high school best friends was from Lasnamäe as well and also had trouble with chemistry, but we helped him through it, explaining everything in simple terms. I remember explaining him some stuff with beer bottles representing atoms and such and it worked. He's a teacher in a university now (not a chemistry teacher though). So personal tutors would be the best help I suppose, try asking your classmates.

I like how the face looks RPG-ish, it's cute.

I tried my hand on a quick paintover, though I might have gone too far from the original style.
Still, some pointers:
* Use less saturated colors
* Give hime him a neck
* Lower his waistline and shorten his legs a bit
* Lengthen the arms

I hope it helps.

Well it's time. I'd like to thank everyone for entering, got a lot more entires than I was hoping.
It was a tough choice, but I'm giving the first price to Darth Mandarb. Very nice pixeling.
Loominous comes close second with his beautiful drawing and ninepug gets the third place for the original angle.
Thanks again everybody and feel free to take over Darth.

Though I would not call it a sprite by definition, I would consider it as a valid entry. So you're very welcome post it.

Very nice everyone. If anyone else wants to push a late entry in, let me know. If not, I'll probably choose the winner in about 8 hours or so.

I actually find the new version a lot more user friendly and since I saw the 3.0 beta I decided to postpone my project and wait for the final to come out so I don't have to work with the old one anymore :) 3.0 version is definitely more programmer oriented and since that's my strongest side, I'm supporting the change.
