I could send you the mini-raycaster I did in C in my spare time in January :P, but only has blue walls, and brown floor.

PS: and has no wall clipping, and it's Wolf3D style :P

Well, sometimes when you have a game in mind, and you're a newbie, you plan it to be all big and pompous.  When you face reality you realize that sometimes your game is too big to finish it, so you put it off for a while. My game was originally to be something full-size scale, but I realized when I was doing it that going that way I'd never release anything, it was super-shrinked to what was going to be only the prelude of the game :P, and I'll be releasing it soon.

It's a matter of determination and planning carefully what you are going to do, but learning to plan can only be achieved by making a project.

Check this e-book: http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/

It's called the Hacker's diet, written by John Walker, the founder of Autodesk, although the name could be misleading, it is actually a quite serious book, and it explains you why would you lose weight, and shows you a technique to lose it.

Hey, remember sometimes there are stories which are aimed at both targets, take Spirited Away, for example, it was marketed as a movie for kids, but you take a look at it (I'm 20, physically :)) and you notice it has a much deeper plot that your average kid movie.

Thanks, man, I DO have a savegame (I'm oldschool, I guess :)), and I gave the real Diary to Vogel (I was always giving him the fake one).

This game is very well though, I'm playing it again to find all the endings, and it amazes me with the little details that change the way I'd have to play...

:P I don't know if this goes against the rules of this forum in particular, but...

According to almost every walkthru I've read, when I finally reach outside of the castle with my father, I use the motorcycle, and Indy goes automatically to Berlin, and has to pass a guard post.  But in the game this does not happen, it goes directly to the airport, and I want to go to Berlin in order to Hitler sign my travel pass.  Am I missing something from the game?

It's a bit deeper explanation, in a bitmap image each pixel has a specific color, made of three values: red, green and blue, each of these values can take any number from 0 to 255 (total of colors a pixel can take = 255*255*255 = 2^32, that's why it's called 32-bit). When I say averaging, I'm saying that you take each pixel, and average the values of the three primary colors. I wish I had a site that explained this better, I'm sure there are a lot out there, but I hope it was enough educational for you :).

BTW, you don't have to know this to make your blurring better, as the computer does this automatically for you, and the blurring has to look good for you, no matter how the blurring is done ;).

Man, you progress is quite remarkable, as someone said here, it's almost a transition from an original Sierra game to a remake.

You said the spaceport was on a planet, if you're unsure about the stars fading, you should check if the spaceport is in an urban area, if it does, you could add also some 'light pollution' to the scene to make the star fading more real. Light pollution is a faint gradient from below simulating bright lights coming from below.

Anyway, your image is ready and set to be included in your game, my congratulations again.

FYI, pixel blurring in computer graphics is done by averaging the surrounding pixels (typically the 3x3 area around it).  I don't remember well about sharpening, I think it's by averaging the surrounding pixels except the center pixel.

General Discussion / How do you MIDI?

¿What software are you currently using?, ¿Do you use a piano or another instrument with MIDI interface, or do you put the events with the mouse?
I use Cakewalk for composing, and forced to put the events with the mouse, because of my total lack of money to buy a piano. :(

Well, I composed the tune this week, but when I wanted to upload it, my provider went offline :P, well, at least listen to it :). Bye!

Well, what I usually do is to draw things first on paper (I can at least draw something a bit better than a stick guy), because the scanner is in other part of the house and I'm quite hasty, I take pictures of them, trace them and colour them.

The image you'll see below took me about 1 hour or 1-1/2 hour.  If you're talking about developing a game, it's really recommendable that you plan the rooms first while you're developing the plot, in order to know what you're going to draw, you don't have to plan every single detail, the most important things, and the things below them, that way you can be flexible with the game if something happens in the middle of the production stage.

With the last message I was saying that at least the final result of scriptitng the intro is rewarding, I've finished it.   TK, of course that all the tools to script an intro are there, but there are some things you want to make sure are synchronized and besides that, display long time enough to be read.

There is no Timer bug as frustrating as the SQ1VGA or the SQ4  bug :'(, in one case you barely could escape from the Sariens when the "You hear footsteps behind" msg appeared, and in the other case it was impossible to escape in the Skate-O-Rama part from the Time Patrols.
